[No core detected.]

[Do you want to reanimate the being?]

[Yes/No]

Seeing the panel seeking his permission, Lucian clicked on yes. Nothing happened for a few seconds, then a cluster of golden particles began to gather around the core.

Curious about the process, the demon observed the golden particles. Trying to understand its origin, he uses mana sense, but nothing returns to him. The particles weren’t made of mana.

As if guided by a hand, the particles began to mold into a shape. It first became a long tube, then took the form of a snake-like object. A moment later, something formed at the center of this snake-like skeleton.

"Heart..." Lucian whispered, trying to recognize the object that had formed in the middle.

Thin pipe-like structures began to shoot out from the heart, moving in all directions. Soon, more organs formed at the end of these thin pipes.

In a minute, a thin layer of radiance cloaked all of it. Soon, the demon could recognize a human structure.

Naked, the girl lay on the floor, her eyes were healed, and so was the wound around her throat. The only thing missing was the warmth she once held.

[You have reanimated a human: Misha Falgun]

Ignoring the notification, Lucian watched her movement. Weaving his mana, he covered her in a thin layer of blood, ready for any unexpected move she were to make.

Bringing her back was only the first step; now he had to somehow convince those who had invaded the dungeon to heal its master.

It wasn’t going to be easy, but Lucian wasn’t without any options either. He had a card under his sleeve as well.

A moment later, the girl let out a gasp, flailing her hands, trying to grasp something.

Opening her eyes, she looked around, her gaze landing on the demon and the goblin beside it. Seeing the burnt mark all over its body, she heaved a sigh of relief and opened her mouth.

It wasn’t a reaction Lucian hoped for, but seeing her relaxed made him a bit more hopeful. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

"Are you in heaven or have I gone to hell as well?" Believing all of them had died, Misha was at ease.

Shaking his head, Lucian ordered, "Stand up."

Finding herself dead already, Misha didn’t bother getting angry at him, "We are in the kingdom of light... so I don’t want to sully my mouth by cursing the likes of... but first you killed me and now had the audacity to order me around. Who do you think you are? And anyway, how do you come here? Are demons believers of light as well!?"

Seeing the burnt marks on its body, she was sure that Michael had finished his job, like he always did. She was heartbroken for not being able to meet her love, but there was nothing she could do now.

Wishing him the best in his life, she was about to stand up when Lucian interrupted her.

"I’m not dead..." Pausing, he carefully chose his words, "Neither are you."

"As if..." First, she scoffed at his words, but suddenly something hit her.

This place was too dark for being the Kingdom of light. Not only that, the ’Angels’ hadn’t come to pick her up yet. For some reason, she was covered in blood as well.

Looking at her struggling to comprehend the situation, Lucian spoke carefully, "You don’t have to worry, I’m not your enemy here."

Instead of giving her any answer, Misha was staring blankly at the floor.

’Is she checking the status...’ Guessing what she might be doing, he remained silent, glancing toward his master from time to time.

Lucian could sense that the mana around his body began getting weaker; a few parts of his body were already void of any life. There wasn’t much time left for him.

"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME, DEMON. WHY AM I AN UNDEAD NOW..."

Shouting, she began weaving mana, but Lucian interrupted her casting and asked, "See, I’ve brought you back to life. There is no need to be hostile. There-"

Fuming, she interrupted his words and flared, "No need to be hostile, my ass. I will kill you, demon... who asked you to bring me back alive. You are here... where is Michael? Did you kill him..."

She waited for an answer, but no reply came from him.

"You killed him, didn’t you. You crazy bastards. I hope you rot in hell. I hope your master dies as well...." She was cursing him when her gaze landed on another body that was on the ground.

"Hahaah!! Is that your master? Good good. He should be dead. That is the fate that you bastards deserve... killing my friends. Why are you still alive? Are you not going to accompany your master to hell?" Looking dead in his eyes, Misha insulted him.

Seeing her mock his master like that, a seething anger rose within Lucian. Knowing this wasn’t the right time, he calmed himself down. The girl in front of him is the only way to heal his master, and he wouldn’t throw it away because of some mockery.

"Why are you getting angry... You are the ones to inaved our home and killed my companions first. Wouldn’t you do the same if you were in my place?" Lucian said, his eyes bloody red, unable to mask the facade of his calmness.

Hearing his words, Misha pauses for a moment before muttering, "It.. It’s different."

"How is it different..." Frowning, the demon asked.

"We don’t go around killing others." She said, weaving her mana, trying to finish the demon.

Interrupting spell again, Lucian added, "Are you even listening to what you are saying. Don’t go around killing. Who had entered whose house first? How are we the ones to blame here?"

Misha was flabbergasted by his logic; she was trying to refute him but found no way to do it. The monster was right; they were peacefully residing in the dungeon before getting invaded.

Stuttering, she opened her mouth, "Beca— because you are monsters and it’s your nature to kill and eat humans. We had to be careful."

"Are you telling me that I don’t have the right to protect myself and my home. Is that the teaching of your god... is this how you are raised? To kill someone without giving them the right to defend."

"No...." Misha thought, but no words came to her mind; she wasn’t able to argue back with the monsters in front of her.

"I don’t want to talk with you. Kill me, there is no point in continuing my life as undead." Misha muttered, inspecting the room she was in.

The core was right in front of her, and she wanted nothing more than to destroy it. But in her way was the goblin warrior, its swords pointing right at her throat.

If she were in her prime, she could handle the warrior, but for some reason, she had regressed back to tier Ⅰ after getting revived. And when the demon was here, she wouldn’t be able to do anything either.

Leaving with only the choice to die honorably, at least.

"You can die all you want. But there is something I want before that..." Whispering, Lucian looked at her with sympathetic eyes.

Even before listening to his words, Misha muttered, "I won’t do it..."

"Even if I revive your lover. Would you not?" Saying, Lucian stared at her.
