Chapter 255: Aselia Is No More

Dr Sumeria carried out her thorough check-up. Yurian had already debriefed her about Aselia’s condition and the false story they had concocted. So she went with the plan regarding her memory loss.

Her MRI scans showed heightened neural activity in her hippocampus region, meaning her memories had been messed with. But she kept that information to herself and told Aselia to stay calm and rest as much as she could before going on any new missions.

After spending several hours with Dr Sumeria and undergoing several tests Aselia and Yurian left the doctor’s room and she felt even more confused. Their next destination was Aldridge’s office. Taking permission they entered and the same concern she had seen flash in Dr Sumeria and Yurian’s eyes was present in Aldridge’s eyes too.

"Good to see you awake, White Falcon. Please have a seat." Aselia settled down in the seat opposite him and he asked:

"So, how are you feeling?"

"I feel like everything is happening in a rush and I am utterly confused," Aselia was feeling something was amiss.

"I would feel the same if I would experience memory loss too, but I assure you we are all here for every kind of assistance you might need. You are an asset to us and we will protect you at every cost," Aldridge assured her with a grim expression. Remembering the promise he had made to Xiran that he will hide her away and keep her safe at every cost.

"Protect me? What’s going on? I feel like something serious has happened?" Aselia couldn’t shake the feeling that they were hiding something from her.

"White Falcon, listen very carefully because this is serious. And I want you to not defy my orders this time around. An original vampire is on your trail because of your blood and origin. That’s why I have decided to shift you from headquarters to a remote branch of ours. Your identity will be changed along with your appearance. Your ears need to remain covered at all costs."

Aldridge’s words dropped like a bomb on her. Her already hurting head felt like exploding. Too many emotions descended on her simultaneously and she felt like crying, she hardly ever cried.

"Sir! With all due respect, I am not leaving here because of some lousy vampire. Whoever he is, I am sure I can handle him. This is my home and I am staying put."

"No, you are not. He is right because the threat is much bigger than you think. Cities are being demolished by him, we can’t face him alone. You have to do this partner because I will be leaving with you," it was Yurian who spoke from her side instead of Aldridge and she stared at him in disbelief.

"But, Yurian..." she was interrupted by him.

"Do you trust me?" he asked her softly.

"With my life," she almost choked with emotions, not understanding where they were coming from. She was not an emotional person.

"Then do as I say. Time is of the essence and we need to leave tonight," Yurian grimly added.

"Yes, White Falcon. Listen to Yurian on this. You will continue to be a hunter but from a different branch, under a different name, from a discreet location. You are too valuable for us," Aldridge added with a slight shake of his head. He then addressed Yurian:

"Have all the travelling arrangements been made?"

"Yes."

"Have you informed ahead for living arrangements?" Aldridge asked.

"I have, there will be no issues. Have you notified the nearest hunter base that we will be arriving soon?" Yurian seemed uncomfortable about the living arrangements.

"Yes, I have. White Falcon, you will be training and guiding the new hunters over there. We need your extensive knowledge in the field to shape young minds. Of course, missions will be assigned to you as well."

"Can someone at least tell me where we are going?" Aselia uneasily questioned, seemed like everything had already been planned and arranged without her consent and she wondered how dangerous the threat was that she was being hidden away.

"Town of Lahoire in Tremais, my birthplace," Yurian quietly answered while getting up and Aselia stared at him with a blank expression. He never went home before and now he was taking her there.

"You must leave," Aldridge got up too and approached Aselia. His ever-cold eyes held warmth today as he held her shoulder and said:

"We always had our differences and you are the most difficult hunter I have ever trained and raised. But, I have always considered you as my daughter, so stay safe. We will keep the communication minimum and through secure channels, remember you are not Aselia anymore. That name is gone. Choose a name for yourself and make that your identity from today onwards."

Aselia was a bit taken aback by his affectionate words, the man had a stone in place of his heart and here he was being all affectionate to her. She simply nodded and said:

"I will and thank you Sir for everything you have done for me."

"Safe travels, go pack now," Aldridge ushered them forward and with one last look at him Aselia exited the office with Yurian.

On their way to her room, she saw Silver Wolf approaching them.

"White Falcon, how are you feeling?" his voice was firm but held concern.

"I am alright considering everything. How are you? How is Marhia? Are you people coming back from a mission? Because I remember the last time I saw you guys was when you were leaving for a mission but I guess that was a year ago."

Silver Wolf and Yurian exchanged awkward glances at her question and she observed that his jaw got clenched and creases appeared on his forehead as if he was trying to hold back. This further confused Aselia.

"What? Did something happen? Please! I am already plenty confused."

"Partner! We lost Marhia on a mission along with our whole Alpha team and Agent 35," Yurian grimly answered.
