Chapter 475: Twins

The pain was radiating more frequently through her as Irlana and Salia seated her in the car. Rony was barking loudly, seeing her in pain was stressing him out. He paced around the car in agitation.

"Rony, I will be fine. Be a good boy, Salia will be here with you. Stay," Aselia instructed, his big brown eyes radiated his pain but he stopped barking.

"To the hospital," Irlana instructed her driver and gave him the address. He started the car and off they went. She then went on to call Frila to arrive at the hospital as well. Aselia had already called Xiran and he was on his way.

It was still early in the morning and most of the people were still sleeping. Frila tried Yurian multiple times but he was sleeping and his ring was accidentally turned off, exactly the reason Warise couldn’t reach him earlier. So she went to fetch him from his room.

"Deep breaths," Irlana was instructing Aselia while holding her close and praying that they would reach there on time and her brother would have arrived. She tried to reach him but he wasn’t picking up.

"Sssss," Aselia whimpered as another sharp wave of pain hit her. She was clutching her back and was trying to hold on to Irlana.

"Hurry!" Irlana instructed the driver; who was already going fast. She dialled Rivan, he had been sleeping when she had left but knew he would be up by now.

As soon as he picked up she blurted out:

"Come to the hospital, Aselia is about to have her babies."

Rivan jumped out of bed at those words, his best friend was about to become a father and he needed to be there for him. His elation was beyond words and now he couldn’t wait to propose to Irlana so they could have children as well.

"Text me the address, I am on my way," he jubilantly replied while grabbing his clothes and heading to the changing area.

Irlana rubbed Aselia’s back as their car skidded to a halt outside the hospital. The driver jumped out and threw open the door for the ladies. Irlana helped Aselia out.

Frila was already there waiting for them along with Yurian. He was still in his nightdress for as soon as Frila had told him the situation he rushed out without thinking. He only called his parents and requested them to be there as soon as possible.

"About time, let me carry you since Xiran is not here yet," Yurian quickly gathered her in his steady arms and she looped hers around him as they all rushed inside through the parted glass doors. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"Thank you, Yuri. Please, call Xiran again. I need him," she pleaded almost in tears.

"He will be here," Yurian laid her down on the stretcher that had been brought so Aselia could be taken to the delivery room. Dr. Wanstine was already waiting.

"Everyone should wait here, send Señor in as soon as he arrives," Dr. Wanstine instructed and no one dared question her authority as she turned to Aselia and began assessing her situation.

Xiran and Warise had hardly evaluated the scene when his phone rang. Checking it he saw it was Aselia and his heart sank, knowing she wouldn’t be calling until there was an emergency. She never disturbed him at work until it was important.

"Xiran! I am going into labour. Hurry!" she pleaded almost on the verge of tears and he almost slumped to the ground.

"Go to the hospital with Salia, I am on my way," he breathed out with difficulty. He was so panicked he couldn’t even breathe. His battery was dying too, of all the days he hadn’t charged his phone when it was needed most.

"I have to go, handle the situation," Xiran gritted his teeth and informed Warise, who only nodded. He rushed to his car, hoping he wouldn’t be late or he would be damned to miss the birth of his babies. Because it was a fair distance away from the hospital.

Starting his car, he forgot everything, forgot the world, forgot anyone else existed, even forgot he had magical abilities and could teleport, he just needed to be there beside his wife so he drove like a madman. His thoughts were clouded with worries related to her.

Did she go into labour early?

What if something went wrong?

Although he had previously arranged everything in the hospital that would be needed for her delivery still he couldn’t shake his inbuilt fears when it came down to her. The pendant she had given him glistened against the sun’s rays and suddenly he remembered he could teleport now.

Smacking his head on his steering wheel he parked the car in an alley and leaving everything behind, instantly teleported into the bathroom of the hospital. He rushed out, making his way to the delivery room. His heart was frantic with every step he took.

Irlana, Yurian and Frila were already there and his heart dialled down a notch.

"Where is she?" he hoarsely called out and all of them turned to face him.

"They just took her in, she has been asking for you. Go be with her," Irlana hastened to him and he hugged her sister.

"Was she alright? Who brought her to the hospital?" he asked with a dreading heart while nodding in acknowledgement at Frila and Yurian.

"She was. I did now go and be her pillar," Irlana pushed him to the door and chuckled. Xiran opened it and entered like a whirlwind. Moving along the corridor he reached the room where they had taken Aselia.

His eyes found her through the window glass she had been shifted into a white and green hospital gown with small flowering patterns on it. He hurried to her side as a nurse was gently laying her down and spreading her legs.

Xiran yanked open the door and was by her side in a millisecond.

"Xiran! You are here," her voice came out in heavy pants and amidst all the labour pain she smiled brightly at her husband and stretched out her hand. He quickly held it, placing a kiss on the back of it.

"Sorry, it took me so long. I should have never left you," their eyes met and their hearts melted with love that sparked between them.

"Aselia! It’s time to start pushing my dear," Dr. Wanstine instructed as she took her position in front of her and Aselia tightened her grip on Xiran’s hand.

"I am right here with you, my love," he encouraged her as Aselia took a deep breath and started pushing amidst grunts and cries. Xiran extracted a tissue from his pocket as he kept wiping his wife’s brow. His heartbreaking in uncountable pieces seeing her in so much pain. His forehead was heavily creased and his eyes had taken on a darker shade of grey.

"Keep going, Leia. You are doing perfect," his soothing words guided her along the difficult journey of bringing a new life into his world. His other hand was constantly rubbing her forehead as he would randomly kiss her.

"We are almost there with the first one, one more push," Dr. Wanstine spurred her on, keeping her spirits high and with a last grunt the first baby was out. The good doctor lightly patted his chubby cheek and his cries filled the delivery room, bringing smiles to everyone’s faces.

"My beautiful wife, you did so well," Xiran smothered her with a kiss, his heart rejoicing on becoming a father, but they were only halfway there.

The nurse was ready with wipes and a blanket and he was neatly wrapped while Dr. Wanstine and Xiran focused on Aselia, asking her to push again.

Aselia’s heart was strung on her child for all she had seen by that time was a head full of ebony black hair. None of them had black hair. She pushed hard and grunted in pain for the final time and the second child was out too. Aselia fell back on the bed from exhaustion and the loss of energy. Birthing was not a piece of cake.

Only to be wrapped in the comforting arms of her husband, he blanketed her and she snuggled to him.

"I am so proud of you, Leia. Thank you for making me a father," he lovingly whispered to her, his eyes closed as he silently cried tears of joy.

"Xiran! Let’s meet our kids," she painfully murmured, once everything that needed to be out was out.

Dr. Wanstine and the nurses handed them their twins with affectionate smiles.

"Awww, look how adorable they are. Congratulations," they gushed at them. One was handed to Xiran and the other to Aselia. The first aspect they noticed was their kids were not identical, rather they were fraternal twins. One had black hair while the other one had silver hair just like Xiran. Both had their eyes open as they stared at their parents in astonishment.

Aselia was holding one with silver hair and she found herself staring into the ocean-blue eyes of her child, he had inherited the eyes from his grandfather for they were the same colour. And yet all she could think was this was her child and she would go to any length to protect him.
