Chapter 266: Acquiring a Town from a Player
Caelus chuckled. "So it really was your Talent."
"Looks like I was right."
Mason scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "How was I supposed to tell something like that to a complete stranger?"
"Especially when you’re a player."
Caelus nodded. "Fair enough."
He understood Mason’s reasoning completely. Revealing a valuable Talent to strangers was dangerous in this world.
Mason relaxed slightly seeing Caelus wasn’t upset. "Thank you for understanding, sir."
"Once again, don’t let this defeat you."
"Get stronger."
"The next time someone comes after your family, make sure they’re the ones regretting it."
Mason quietly nodded. His expression was still heavy, but he finally had a direction.
"I will."
"I’ll become stronger."
Before leaving, Caelus smiled. "Be back at the market tomorrow."
"I’ll stop by."
Mason nodded without hesitation. "I’ll be there."
The atmosphere finally became lighter. Caelus turned and began walking away with Sylvia following beside him.
Caelus briefly thought about Extraction. Mason possessed a very valuable Talent after all.
However, Caelus decided not to extract it yet. This wasn’t the right time.
Mason was still emotionally unstable after everything that happened. There was no need to rush.
"Later," Caelus thought to himself. "There will be a better opportunity."
He looked toward the sky while walking. So much time had already passed.
He suddenly remembered the Domain progression. "Should we move on to the next section of the Origin Expanse?"
Sylvia smiled gently. "If that’s what you want."
She stepped closer and quietly added, "I just want to stay with you."
Before Caelus could respond, Sylvia kissed him. It was brief and wholesome, leaving him slightly stunned.
"Thanks for protecting me earlier," Sylvia said softly.
Caelus’s lips twitched hearing it. "You don’t need to thank me for that."
Sylvia simply smiled and continued walking beside him.
As they continued walking, Sylvia couldn’t stop smiling. Seeing Caelus become angry because Jason insulted her made her unexpectedly happy.
She liked the feeling of someone standing in front of her. She began wondering how she should reward him later.
Only she knew how valuable this experience was to her.
Her smile became slightly mischievous. "Maybe I should tease him a little tonight."
Caelus thought about entering the next Origin Expanse area.
However, he ultimately rejected the idea.
There wasn’t enough time left today. They were already Tier 3 members of the Golden Chamber, so they should first maximize their current territory.
"Forget it."
"We’ll do that tomorrow."
Caelus suddenly remembered Sylvia’s town. He smiled.
"Let’s conquer your town first."
Sylvia blinked in surprise. Then she immediately understood his plan and happily agreed.
"Alright!"
They traveled toward Sylvia’s town. Genesis Town was slightly smaller than Leaf Town but still contained many active players.
Caelus immediately noticed the current Town Leader. He belonged to the Silver Pickaxe Guild.
Caelus immediately remembered the guild.
One of the people who mocked him before entering the rift belonged to this guild.
"Small world," Caelus thought with amusement.
The Town Leader immediately noticed them. He confidently walked over with several guild members following behind.
"What are you two doing here?"
Caelus didn’t waste time. "I’m here to take your town."
Everyone nearby became stunned. Several players stopped what they were doing and stared.
"Did he just say he’s taking the town?"
"Is this guy insane?"
The Town Leader laughed loudly. "Do you even know who I work for?"
"I’m from the Silver Pickaxe Guild."
"It’d be in your best interest to leave before things get ugly."
Before he finished speaking, Caelus casually slapped him across the face.
Slap!
The Town Leader spun several times before crashing onto the ground. Everyone froze.
Caelus looked completely bored. "Finished?"
The Town Leader struggled back up while holding his face. He started threatening Caelus again.
"The Silver Pickaxe Guild won’t let you get away with this!"
Bang!
Caelus punched him in the stomach. The Town Leader coughed blood and fell again.
Every time the Town Leader tried threatening Caelus, he got interrupted with another hit. Slap, punch, kick.
The surrounding players watched in disbelief. "Is he really just beating him up without saying anything?"
"This is too one-sided."
Desperate, the Town Leader noticed Sylvia. "Sylvia Reign!"
"You’re from Genesis Town! Help me!"
"Talk him out of this!"
Sylvia smiled brightly and then laughed.
"Why would I~?"
"I only care about my hubby~"
The Town Leader stared blankly. "What?"
Several nearby players became speechless. They had never seen Sylvia act this way before.
"Since when did she have a boyfriend?"
"And she’s calling him hubby?"
The Town Leader refused to surrender despite being beaten repeatedly. "I won’t hand over this town!"
Caelus walked over again.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
He rapidly began beating the guy up as he cried like a pig.
The beatings continued for several more seconds. Each time the Town Leader refused, Caelus immediately hit him again.
Eventually, the Town Leader couldn’t take it anymore. "Stop!"
"I’ll transfer it!"
"Just stop hitting me!"
Caelus grabbed the defeated Town Leader by the collar. "Good."
"Transfer ownership."
The Town Leader opened the Town Management Interface with shaking hands. Instead of transferring it to Caelus, Caelus pointed toward Sylvia.
"Her."
"Transfer it to Sylvia."
The Town Leader reluctantly confirmed the transfer. A bright pillar of light descended onto Sylvia.
Genesis Town began recognizing its new owner. The system notification appeared in front of her.
[Congratulations.]
[You have become the Town Lord of Genesis Town.]
Sylvia looked surprised. She didn’t expect Caelus to give the town to her instead of keeping it himself.
She turned toward him with a soft smile. She didn’t mind it at all because she was more than glad to help him with something.
The surrounding players watched the scene unfold in silence. Nobody dared to approach them anymore.
With that, they began looking at the information about towns.
First and foremost, what they noticed about it was that it was not that complicated.
It was straightforward. The town leader didn’t have much authority like how it was in the Abyss.
And this was a Tier 1 Region Lord Territory. The way you upgraded a town was by having the leader of it reach the second rank, along with other smaller criteria, but it wasn’t hard.
The town itself was a way to keep every player in check without making it cluttered.
And town leaders could also add rules, such as no in-fighting inside the town, and more.
And on that note, Sylvia also got an achievement and reputation points for becoming a town leader, meaning she now had an equal amount of achievements to him.
There was also no stuff related to troops either.
Soon, the domain closing notification rang, and they were ejected out.
