Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy
Chapter 3607: Firebrand City
Ronron switched her look. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Her green hair was now fully black, her eyes a soft amber color. Compared to her usual appearance, this made her stand out a lot less. She also wore a soft gray robe that made her look quite ordinary.
Even her beautiful appearance seemed to have dimmed a little.
Alex stared at the hair clip she had placed on her head that had caused the changes to occur. "Is that an artifact to disguise you?"
Ronron nodded. "I can’t go out looking like my regular self. People will recognize me immediately if I did that. It’s an issue."
Alex expected as much. He looked toward Greensoul as well. His appearance hadn’t changed much from before, but he had his hair tied behind him in a ponytail, and he wore a large hat that hid his looks. At the same time, the aura he gave off also made him appear as a regular Immortal realm cultivator.
With the way he looked and the aura he gave off, it was easy to misjudge his strength. This both helped him stay by Ronron’s side while keeping an eye on her, and allowed her to freely roam around without worrying about drawing eyes.
At the moment, Alex was more of an issue than the other two. His reverent aura that drew people’s eyes was going to gather a lot of unwanted attention upon him. Sadly, there was no way for him to undo that, so he had to work with it.
Finally, they left the palace and walked down the ivory steps until they arrived back at the teleportation formation at the edge of the cliff. The same formation that had taken them into this city was also the one that would take them out of it.
Most places had multiple formations to accept and send, but in the Sky God’s palace, there was only one.
"There are a few shops around here too, but these are mostly run by the families of the soldiers," Ronron explained. "Unlike the big stores out there, they don’t have everything you might need."
Alex nodded slowly. They stood atop the teleportation formation, which activated, sending them away. In the blink of an eye, Alex found himself standing far away from before. He quickly walked down from the formation and looked around at the various buildings he could see from where he was.
"We’ll need to wait for a while before teleporting again," Ronron said.
"What’s wrong with this city?" Alex asked. "This looks decently big and populated. Will we not find what we want here?"
"Maybe? But Firebrand City is most well known for selling alchemy ingredients and pills," Ronron explained. "We might have to visit many places if we go around here, and even then there is a high chance that we won’t find everything we want."
Alex supposed there was nothing he could do in that case.
"What do you think we should do, senior Greensoul?" Alex asked the man that remained silent next to them.
Greensoul shrugged. "I’m only here to look after the young lady. Whatever you do, it is all up to you."
"Don’t you have any advice for us, senior?" Ronron asked.
Greensoul remained silent for a few seconds before speaking. "I would highly suggest going to Firebrand City directly, but that’s just me."
"If that is what you say is best, then that is what we’ll do," Alex said. So, the group waited for a while for the teleportation formation to activate again, taking them over to Firebrand City.
Firebrand City was a massive city, with gold and jade spread across it like an emerald sea shimmering with sunlight. Massive gleaming formations came in and out of glow in every direction one turned their eyes toward. It was even more for Alex, who could see the colors of the multitudes of auras that emanated from all across the city.
Perfectly straight cobblestone roads were crowded with cultivators of all sorts. Many looked simple like them, coming to the city out of necessity. Many looked to be searching for new opportunities. While a scant few looked like rich young masters and mistresses who took carriages around the city to enjoy their time.
Alex saw several similar robes around the place, which made him believe they were part of a few different sects. Even if those weren’t sects, they had to belong to some organization at least.
However, one of those uniforms stumped him a little.
The uniform that caught his eye was a sky-blue robe, which was clearly made out of cloth, but held the appearance of a blue Sky God soldier’s armor. Alex nudged Ronron with his elbow and gestured toward one of the soldiers.
"Are those the Sky God’s soldiers?" he asked her.
Ronron looked at the uniform and nodded. "In a way. They are part of the domestic army. Their job is to maintain peace within the continent of the Sky God’s Palace. They are people who didn’t manage to become true Sky God soldiers, or people who didn’t want to keep working as soldiers in the other worlds, but still wanted to be a part of the army."
"I see."
Ronron looked around the city. "Should we get ourselves a carriage, or should we walk?" she asked.
"Well, that depends," Alex said. "How far away do we have to go? If there’s an alchemy store close by, there is no need to take a carriage at all."
Ronron looked around with a slight grimace. "I’m not entirely sure either. The last time I came around, it was with grandma. We took a carriage and it directly took us to a store the driver recommended, but it’s a bit far away from here."
"Was it a good store?" Alex asked.
Ronron shook her head. "It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either."
"Okay... then where do we go?"
Greensoul stepped forward.
"If neither of you knows where to go, why don’t you follow my lead?" he asked. "I have an acquaintance who owns one of the biggest alchemy stores in the city. And it’s close enough that we can just walk there."
