Eternal Emerald Dragon
Chapter 1819 - 1818 - Obligations
Heaven and Earth had ratted him out!
There was no other explanation!
Lind quickly convened a meeting of his wives, Sun, and the royal leaders of the Krakens with the Leviathans. They were his trusted confidants from his long journey in the Divine Lands.
He explained what caused his near disastrous experience, which was not too uncommon with Master Tiers, yet when he got to his actual Mystery, none seemed surprised.
"HA HA HA! You really like to cause trouble Lind!" Sun was crying as he laughed so hard. His staff was used to keep him upright as he put his other hand on the simple wooden table they sat around.
While he would normally be chastised by others, the rest of the group looked at Lind as if he was thick.
"Divine Lord Frey, Master Tiers are always looking for a way forward. A new Mystery is often an inspiration for them. It is an obligation for the originator of the Mystery to explain as much as they can for other Master Tiers to try and grasp a way to break their bottlenecks." The King Kraken was trying hard to be polite but he was proving to be the true inspiration of his daughter’s antics!
He was clearly salivating to ask questions!
His wife, however, was more calm.
"Lind, given your goals, helping another Master Tier try to reach the Eternal Realm might not be a bad idea." Her words seemed like a good idea but he shook his head.
"I cannot fully explain, but outside our Divine Lands, things are bad. Very bad." He knew some things could not be revealed. He felt the restrictions rise against him. He now appreciated the pair that had guided him in his rebirth even more.
He had considered adding them to his group, but they were focused on redeveloping the Eastern Continent with the survivors of their faction.
It was a harsh time for them even after thousands of years.
Yet, at the words of her majesty, he considered the worth of what they were telling him.
"Is it restricted to only Master Tiers?" The leviathans now laughed at his question.
"Certainly not! It is almost an excuse for all Divine Realms to gather but you decide the extent of it. Obviously, some cannot come to keep their factions or powers working smoothly. Still, if you consider them friends, take that into account." He nodded.
That was not a large problem but he had a larger concern too.
"Exactly how long am I obliged to hold this celebration?" They all looked at him with some pity. None wanted to tell him the bad news and he sighed.
"Father, from what I have heard it can be almost a billion years depending on several factors." Fey spoke up. She looked annoyed and he could understand why. She likely had been pestered being what she was.
While she had not condensed new Mysteries, her depth of Life, Death, and Samsara likely far surpassed anyone currently alive. She also had to have held conferences or Dao discussions.
Obviously, she had not been forced to hold ones for that long, yet it was likely never going to stop so long as she was willing.
Lind knew he did not have that kind of time.
"What is the bare minimum?" His question seemed expected but Lysanna was the one who stood up.
"Beloved, while many know you have a goal, I do not think they will allow you to advance without a basic grasp of the new Mystery you condensed." Lind’s eyebrow twitched. He had not mastered it yet, how would he explain it to anyone?!
Before he could explode, Annabelle came to his side and hugged him.
"Lind, this could be good for you. Your next Mystery is a complete blank, right?" Her words made him pause. It was true he had no clue how to move forward. He still had a lot of work to do yet.
Time was the factor he worried about. The original Bastard was busy at the moment and he had no way to know how much was left. The Eternal Realm was a complete blank as well! He had no conception aside from how terrifying the power of it was.
He knew Immortals and Divine Realms were far apart but even as a Sovereign Tier, he had found a way forward. Just feeling the shadow of the battle in the Eternal Realm had left him hopeless!
Such an insane leap in power was not possible for him to grasp yet and he was running out of time!
A gathering of Master Tiers was not a bad idea. He now had 2 Master Tier Mysteries. There were Master Tiers with 3 that he could talk to if he gathered them!
He did not want to exclude those of the Apprentice and Journeyman Tier either. He had to find a way to include them without making them come to him. His mind shifted at that moment.
Rather than trying to host a massive gathering in the Blessed Crimson Range, he had another idea.
It would allow for all to gather and for those that can’t leave to still be included. It would require, however, for certain things to be in place.
"Is Project Ares still being built or is it done?" His question made some confused but his wives seemed to brighten at his words. Fey stared at him. She had been called in for the meeting but she knew what the project was.
[Don’t you dare!] He could hear her voice in his mind even without a transmission. It was not that he wanted to irk her but if his project was up and running, it would solve his problem.
He used the God of War name as a misleading title as well for anyone investigating it. While old Earth was far less prevalent in the Divine Lands, the factions had guided a lot of souls from there to the cultivation realms.
Anywhere there was life had been pinned to their hope. Heaven and Earth chose who retained their sense of self, but Divine Realm cultivators with the right Mysteries could take over from there.
Lind, oddly enough, lacked that power despite his intrinsic ties with the Mystery of Defiance. It was not a question of power, but of nuance.
Thus, many Divine Realm cultivators that worked for powerful groups had a lot of information from those worlds. Lind did not want leaks getting led to the true purpose of the project.
The reason being that something related to war was perfectly normal. Every power made massive investments in defenses, offensive tools, and armies for various uses. It would not cause many ripples.
He had learned harshly that cultivators craved new things like small children. His creations from the war were still the talk of many experts thousands of years later! The demand for those extreme items he made to kill Fiends while severing them from the Bastard were also being studied for various applications.
Thankfully, thanks to the war, the materials available to spread them far and wide were scarce. They had burned through billions of years of them!
Lind hid the fact he could recreate the effects; it would just be more complicated.
Project Ares was in fact an application of that very process. He had made the key components and then laid out plans others could work on while he was in seclusion or out and about.
Lind knew he had to leave but he wanted to make a place that was not an Inheritance that people would control or try to monopolize. He instead intended to make something possibly more ambitious that he had encountered several times before.
An almost living artifact.
Artifacts that were infused with spirits gained incredible powers by being able to channel Laws, Daos, and other functions independently of their wielder.
Things like his ships lacked spirits despite their complexity because they were many artifacts brought together. It seemed many refiners and Forgers were mystified due to how powerful they could be but it was all about compounding effects.
The idea of simple artifacts having such power was contrary to all the grading systems cultivators had created.
His ships had opened a door none had truly explored before. Now other experts were working hard to make complex constructs.
Still, Lind suspected he was closer to Older Twin now. He had set the project in motion but it had the unexpected benefit of helping him now, if it was ready.
"Project Ares is in the final stage. If you were to contribute now, it could be ready but will it work as you intended?" Ethry was the one to finally speak up. Lind smiled. They had no idea how much he had changed.
"Father." Fey’s voice made him flinch while his wives were amused. Sun was flat out confused.
Lind sighed. He dared not explain while Sun was present but he could give her some reassurance.
"It will be me. All of it. I will need your contribution later." Her face relaxed and he had to resist the giggle his wives started to have. Sun now seemed to get a gleam in his eyes but Lind looked at him harshly. "Unless you want that staff snapped in half, let it go Sun."
The True Lord Monkey became tempted until a chill entered the room. Lind did not even have to look to know Fey was exerting her pressure.
Sun wisely stayed quiet. Lind adjourned the meeting. He had no desire to tempt fate further!
