Eternal Freedom's Ascension
Chapter 230: Promise of Protection
Ysabella’s heart shook with fear as she took cautious steps back. She had always been cautious about Kaiser from the moment he realized her true nature.
It always felt like there was something wrong with him. Now, she could confidently say he was a madman.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t find any confidence to display at the current situation.
Those blue eyes bore into her soul with a bone-chilling coldness that made her tremble.
"Haa... this is really a waste of time."
Kaiser sighed, raising his head as he held Kiera in his hands.
"Ysabella, you would not say a word about Kiera and neither would you give anyone any clue."
He spoke calmly, not a statement but a command.
"Else," His eyes sharpened. "I might have to send you to the death god—whatever he is called."
The blonde girl gritted her teeth in frustration, feeling helpless and powerless. If it was Kiera alone, she believed could handle the inhuman girl.
However, with Kaiser now in the equation, she didn’t dare risk it.
"I understand."
She nodded, her head lowered as she avoided locking eyes with him.
"Alright. I’ll say you promised me that. You should go back early. You still need to review your maths, don’t you?"
Ysabella force herself to nod, then walked out obediently.
She didn’t dare look back, too terrified to look at them.
Finally, when the door closed, Kaiser felt the tension ease in Kiera’s muscles.
She immediately turned around and hugged him back, burying her face in his chest.
He frowned faintly. "What is wrong? Haven’t I given are a warning? She wouldn’t disturb you anyone."
"No it’s not..." Kiera mumbled, her voice muffled. "It’s just that I was really scared for a moment. If I really got reported, then I’ll die."
Kaiser paused, contemplating something carefully.
"Come with me."
Pulling her arms off him, he led her out of the room. Ignoring the fact that they might be seen walking together, he took her straight to the chairman’s office.
When he entered, both Kiera and the man were surprised.
"Kaiser? What are you doing here? And with... a girl."
His eyes narrowed, studying the two of them carefully. Seeing Kiera cling to Kaiser’s sleeves nervously, his eyes widened.
"Don’t tell me... you got her pregnant?!"
Hearing the chairman’s shocking statement, Kaiser deadpanned. His gaze was serious, dispelling the man’s doubt.
"I’m here for something else."
Chairman Jonathan also got serious, his brows furrowed.
"What is that?"
Kaiser pointed at Kiera. "She’s not human."
Silence.
Chairman Jonathan and Kiera stared at him with with wide eyes, stunned beyond disbelief.
Kiera’s eyes were wide in horror. What was he doing? Reporting her to the highest authority in the academy? Was that how he wanted to kill her?
Before anyone of them could talk, Kaiser continued.
"Although she isn’t human, I made a promise not to let her get harmed or persecuted. At least, not by your staff."
The shock in Chairman Jonathan’s eyes lessened, and he looked at Kaiser with a frown.
"What nonsense are you saying? Do you think I’ll allow such a thing in my academy? If she were a beastkin, I’d have agreed. But she clearly isn’t one."
Kaiser raised his head, gazing at the ceiling blankly.
"Chairman... do I have to threaten you?"
The other two people in the room were once again shocked. Threaten the chairman?
Kiera couldn’t help but stare at him with a complicated expression. She couldn’t understand why every of his actions seemed to be irrational.
And she was sure, Kaiser’s words were definitely not a joke.
Chairman Jonathan’s aura slowly unfolded, enveloping the office in thick pressure.
Kiera paled instantly, while Kaiser’s expression barely changed.
His eyes looked down on the man with a fearless gaze.
"How do you plan on threatening me, Kaiser?"
The man asked, a light smirk on his lips.
The blue-haired boy raised his right hand and counted his fingers.
"I have over fifty of your staff under my influence already. Just a thought and there’ll be a massacre that you cannot afford to bear."
The man’s eyes shrank into pins. "You... were you responsible for the recent attacks?"
Kaiser shook his head, his expression calm.
"No. Only partially. The main contributors are your rivals. The Vladimir family."
The chairman’s face hardened. "I’m aware of that. But you said you were also involved. So you can put people under your influence, hm?"
The boy nodded subtly.
Judging by Kaiser’s lack of negative micro-reactions to his words, the boy clearly wasn’t bluffing.
Of course, Kaiser was bluffing. Even if he had instilled commands into the head of several people, he couldn’t activate the commands with a single thought.
He was merely good at bluffing that someone as powerful and experienced as the chairman got fooled.
"Kaiser. I’m aware that all Solace members are daring and very arrogant, but are you sure this move of yours is worth it?"
Chairman Jonathan spoke rationally, trying to reason with him.
"She can be a danger to the students here. And don’t you care about the lives of those you would be killing if you give the command right now?"
Kaiser frowned, giving the man a weird look.
"Excuse me sir... but it seems you have forgotten that I am a Solace. The last thing we care about is the life of variables."
He cast an empty glance at Kiera who was still frozen and pale beside him.
"And if she harms anyone, I have sworn to personally kill her."
His gaze returned to the chairman.
"Is that enough for us to come to a consensus?"
The man leaned back in his seat, closing his eyes to think.
"Kaiser. Why are you doing all of this? I’m sure you don’t see anything special in this... bloodling."
’Hm? He deduced it that fast? Not bad.’
Kaiser chuckled inwardly and answered in a self-deprecating tone.
"You should know. I hate going back on my words."
Chairman Jonathan was surprised. "You flipped a coin?"
The boy shrugged, indifferent. "I considered killing her too. But she got lucky."
The man’s expression turned awkward and he looked at Kiera again. He couldn’t help but wonder how the girl must be feeling.
Perhaps her mind was a mess, being associated with someone as twisted as a Solace.
"In that case, I’ll inform the main staffs not to harm her. But I can’t guarantee the students."
Kaiser gave him a thumbs up and turned around with the white-haired girl.
"That is enough. If there is any student daring enough, then I will have to flip a coin for them too, unfortunately."
Saying that, he walked out of the office, leaving the man in deep thoughts.
Once they stepped out, Kiera released a breath she had been holding and unconsciously gasped for air.
Kaiser turned to her, his gaze still empty.
"Is that enough guarantee now?"
After taking several breaths, Kiera nodded. "It is. More than enough."
She couldn’t help but wonder why Kaiser was this invested in her life.
Could it really be because of his promise? She didn’t know, and he also didn’t know.
Rolling his shoulders, Kaiser looked up at the evening sky and said to her.
"You should return early to the dorms. Don’t forget I gave you revision assignments."
The white-haired girl nodded faintly, but she didn’t move.
Kaiser noticed that and looked back exasperatedly.
"What is it now?"
Kiera just shook her head, then looked at him with a bright smile.
"Nothing. Let’s go."
Although suspicious, Kaiser didn’t say a thing and walked straight to the dormitory. They parted at the elevator where Kaiser alighted at the fourth floor. Meanwhile, Kiera’s room was on an higher floor.
As he approached his room, Kaiser was surprised to find someone waiting for him.
Hazel stood at his door, checking her phone with a frown. It was only then that Kaiser realized he hadn’t checked his phone for any notifications.
"Surprised seeing you here."
Hearing his voice, the black-haired girl immediately looked up and glared at him.
"Where were you? I couldn’t reach Ysabella and Kiera. And Charles said you had already finished your study session."
Kaiser nodded as he unlocked the door, ushering her inside.
"Indeed. However, I needed to settle some variable so it doesn’t bring too much discomfort in the future."
Although his words were cryptic, Hazel still nodded.
He turned to her after dropping his bag. "Well? For what reason would you be visiting me?"
Hazel took a seat at his bed, looked at the blooming flowers at the window, then turned back to him.
"I’m taking a review on each study group. Can you handle them well?"
Kaiser nodded, his eyes fixed on her forehead. Hazel didn’t notice, or perhaps she pretended not to.
"And Mordica? I heard she didn’t join you guys."
Kaiser nodded again, still staring at her forehead.
"Yes. I’ll have to take her privately."
Hazel was surprised and confused, but she didn’t want to dive into anything between those two. Finally, she couldn’t hold back her discomfort and spoke.
"Why the hell are you staring at my head?"
Kaiser lowered his gaze to her eyes, then tilted his head.
"You’re running temperature, aren’t you?"
