Evolution: From Calamity To Accursed Calamity
Chapter 56: [ - ● Calamity: Voltrex Dracoryx Skydrill!]
This revelation made Aezaleon realize that an element as potent as regeneration was not insurmountable when faced with his wife’s terrifying power. There existed a force—her unique element—that corrupted healing itself, turning a font of life into a weapon used against the very individuals who possessed it.
Nevertheless, after absorbing the unfortunate Calamity, Aezaleon managed to comprehend two new inferior concepts. These were his first flame-type concepts, in fact.
He gained [Thermal Fracture] and another that was a clever combination of two other inferior concepts—[Burning Momentum] and [Emberhide Fortification]—which merged into his new inferior concept of—[Emberguard Flux].
The former, [Thermal Fracture], was an offensive type. With it he became capable of concentrating extreme heat into his hands, then releasing it upon impact to create a fracturing thermal burst.
This caused the strike to generate internal heat cracks deep inside his targets. The damage would spiderweb and spread outward after impact, becoming capable of shattering even the most resilient defenses.
The core principle was the flames utilizing thermal pressure to crush armor from the outside and vaporize the target from the inside. His strike were like a hot needle piercing a block of ice, causing the entire structure to shatter into a thousand pieces.
Whereas, the latter, [Emberguard Flux], was an acceleration-defensive type.
In this concept, the momentum of his movement itself generated intense heat. This thermal energy was then recycled as fuel to reinforce the body. It was an equation where speed equaled heat buildup, and heat equaled a dense defense layer over the skin.
Faster movement resulted in a stronger heat armor, making his frame more durable and tougher while in motion. In this state, contact caused severe burn damage and his momentum became a juggernaut that was difficult for enemies to stop.
For his foes, there was no separation between offense, defense, and acceleration, considering the previous concept also worked on the consumption of heat.
It was like motion becoming armor, and heat becoming force. With movement fueling it, Aezaleon effectively possessed both attack pressure and durability.
These were two amazing concepts that worked wonderfully in a battle of attrition or a continuous, grueling combat.
Evidently, these two battles also helped in increasing the proficiency of his other two concepts—[Lesser Frost] and [Darkwind]—by approximately 10-15 percent.
It was a wonderful gain and he was very much satisfied with his progress. Therefore, soon Aezaleon was upon another calamity.
Calamity: Voltrex Dracoryx Skydrill!
It was a flying lizard-type calamity. Also, its element was actually [Lightning]—the first one Aezaleon had encountered in the wild.
Its appearance was sleek; it was a winged reptile with extended membrane wings that glowed with restless electric currents. Its body was lightweight but sharp-edged, with lightning constantly traveling along its wings and tail. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Its eyes shone in a bright, piercing blue-white light. Capable of flight, it possessed an extreme aerial mobility and maneuverability. The creature moved through the sky like a jagged bolt of lightning, erratic and impossible to pin down.
Because of this air superiority and amazing maneuverability, it was truly an annoying pest. It was exceedingly difficult to land a solid attack on the beast.
This was even truer after it was once locked on by his superior concept of—[Cyrolock]. The Calamity: Voltrex Dracoryx Skydrill was able to shatter the lock by activating its own superior concepts—[Voltrix Surgebreak] and [Voltaris Unbound Flux].
Both were superior concepts geared specifically towards countering suppression-type concepts and abilities.
The former overloads the body with lightning to restore motion and break states like freezing, making electricity act like a forced restart—shattering the frost and forcing the muscles to move again.
Whereas the latter converted the physical body into something similar to an unstable electrical flow, becoming capable of avoiding being controlled or restricted.
It was like you can’t hold, bind, pressure, control, or suppress something that is always moving like raw electricity.
It was a state of pure energy, but obviously [Cyrolock] was also capable of freezing it; its effects were only overridden because of the two superior concepts working together and complementing one another because of the ability the Calamity had created and used to counter it.
Afterwards, the Voltrex Dracoryx Skydrill became even more frustrating to deal with. It kept its distance, using the other two of its superior concepts—[Lightning Vector] and [Storm Acceleration]—to harass him from the safety of the clouds.
Then there were also the inferior Concepts—[Spark Glide], [Volt Dive], [Static Burst], [Air Dash], [Electric Pulse], [Storm Pierce], [Venoshock Ray], [Pulse Disruption], [Arc Talon Strike], [Static Venom Mist], [Neuroshock Charged Particles], [Voltbind], [Echo Volt Snare], [Sonic Arc Pulse], and [Thunderclasp]—and several others that the calamity utilized through its ability to increase the potency of its concepts even more to prolong the battle.
It had genuinely become difficult for Aezaleon to kill the Voltrex Dracoryx Skydrill despite his actual strength, primarily because he lacked such unique elemental affinities like those his girls possessed.
Even the lizard had its own lightning element while he had none. He was merely relying on his concepts for the time being for some elemental manipulation; it was a hollow and chaotic method, an unreliable approach only being of any real use in the lower ranks.
Aezaleon had asked Clementine why he didn’t have an elemental affinity like all others.
Her answer was also quite easy to understand—it was not that he didn’t have it, but it was more like there was simply not enough energy to also complete the formation of his unique element. Simply put, the information in his blood about his own affinity was incomplete currently.
To complete it and unlock his affinity, Aezaleon had to either evolve his bloodline and become a Void Calamity or evolve his core and become a Monarch.
The process of evolution would be the trigger for his body to absorb the natural energy and complete his information, thus unlocking his elemental affinity.
Anyhow, after being played around with for nearly 13 minutes, being electrically poisoned and suffering damage from the lightning-sound concepts, and not being able to do anything to the accused because he lacked the needed abilities or concepts himself, Aezaleon decided it was time to once more focus on his sub-ability effect three—<Shared Ascension Matrix>—of his ability effect four—<Dominion Pact: Master’s Fortune>.
He utilized the first ability Auguszta had used on their first meeting—<Calamitous Flame Ray>.
With his index finger pointing towards the Calamity: Voltrex Dracoryx Skydrill, Aezaleon muttered the name of the technique. Subsequently, a small dot of Burningblight materialized before his finger. It was red-black. It was ominous. It was decay. It was corruption.
BOOOOM!
The speed was truly too much for the lizard to track. The ray struck the calamity in a blink of an eye. Thereupon came the blight, the decay, and the corruption.
However, Aezaleon didn’t stop there; he activated the ability two more times even though the calamity was already unable to continue the battle after the first strike.
He still did it. He was being petty here, but he didn’t care.
With this, the battle that he had no hope of winning quickly—even if time passed and the calamity got exhausted—came to an abrupt end.
