Chapter 510: The Dark Trio

Thorian, who was the least affected among them, growled at the other two, "Get it together. It’s a Ghost Specter messing with our minds. We prepared for this, remember, damn it. The thing is constantly releasing frequencies that don’t register to the human mind. Altering our thoughts and imaginations."

Jaden and Enrick snapped out of the fear that struck them, and all of them instantly brought out a certain bracelet-shaped artifact. The moment they wore the artifact, the hallucinations and foreign negative thoughts vanished.

As the frequencies that were messing with their minds were almost 80% blocked by the rune artifact.

Their faces twisted into rage as they saw the real face of the damned specter, and it was still utterly hideous and horrifying to look at.

But its visage did not have the same fearful effect on them as it had moments before; the creature was still incredibly strong, enough to pose a serious threat.

Enrick switched to his Conjurer aspect, immediately summoning a Nature Wind Spirit that had the capacity to hurt ethereal beings like the Undead specter above their heads.

A white colored rune bow of Epic grade 2nd tier appeared in Enrick’s hand, and it instantly changed color, copying the attributes of his summoned Wind spirit; the color of it changed from white to lightish green.

The child-sized green wind spirit was beautiful; its wings were sparkling and colorful, like a butterfly’s. The creature waved its hand, and a gust of wind swirled around Enrick, brushing against his skin gently, taking away all the dirt and sweat from his skin.

As if the wind had become privy to his command, he put his fingers on the strings of the bow, and he started pulling on it, which took a considerable amount of strength, and the wind swirled even more around him.

It converged and wrapped around him like a python, eventually forming into the shape of a green arrow made out of purely wind elemental energy.

Enrick used all the strength he could muster, pulling the string of the bow to the extreme. The green arrow conjured by the blessing of the Wind Spirit shot out as a destructive tornado turned into a shaft. The wind arrow left a storm in its path.

It cut through the lingering forms of energies in the air, turning into a sharp, grinding drill that could pierce through almost anything. The twenty-foot-tall, hideously pale, spectral female with jagged teeth opened her mouth, letting out a sonic scream.

The screech of the specter, though it was able to reduce the speed and power of the wind shaft, still hit the ethereal specter. To the shock of the undead, it was actually able to hurt it.

Scraahahhahh.....

The specter howled like never before; the arrow that had hit its left eye, and the wound on its incorporeal body remained. Which was not supposed to happen.

Yet, Enrick was not so happy with the result, as he cursed, "Fuck, that arrow takes too much energy out of me. I can’t launch it too many times without running dry. Now that the specter knows it can be injured by my arrows, it won’t just stay still."

Thorian, switching to his Arcane aspect, changed his sword to another rune weapon that was more optimized for damaging spectral-type creatures. Then he spoke, "I’ve altered my energy type, I can keep it busy. However, my attacks won’t do much against it. It’s far stronger than us."

Jaden switched to his Aurauser aspect, also changing to a fitting rune weapon for this situation. He turned towards the Samartan prince, "Give me your Wind spirit blessing as well."

Enrick frowned.

But before he could respond, Jaden pressed in a serious tone, "Just chug down a goddamn potion, we don’t have time or luxury to be so careful now. We have to kill this damn specter as fast as possible. Unless you two want to miss this opportunity?"

The gaze of the two princes flickered for a moment, looking far ahead to the lines of their vanguard forces that were relentlessly pushing back the enemy army’s undead. Princess Yasmin and Prince Nox were fighting with all of their might, badly injured, but still fighting.

Thorian and Enrick looked at Jaden, simultaneously nodding at him in agreement with his words. Without hesitation, Enrick instantly gave a mental command to his summoned wind spirit.

The creature hesitated for a moment, as if unwilling to bless the power of wind to another being who was not its summoner.

But in the end, it could only obey its master’s command. A wave of soft green wind surrounded Jaden’s figure as he gained a subtle control over the spirit wind. Though the control he gained over the wind from that blessing was not as potent as Enrick’s.

Not only because the Samartan prince was the summoner of the spirit, but more so because Enrick possessed the Assimilation attribute in his mana, which could incorporate the wind element’s property of his summoned spirit to a great degree in his energy.

But this was enough for Jaden; using his own attribute, ’Extreme Control,’ he could amplify the nature of this spiritual wind, multiplying its damage capacity.

All of this did not take more than 10 seconds for the Dark Trio; the undead female specter did not remain idle. The creature rushed at them with a maddening frenzy, and it was already on the ground. Monstrous fury written all over its face, its strength was at mid-third phase.

But due to the specter’s highly attributed incorporeal nature. It was even stronger. From the reaction of the countless other undead beings who were also battling their opponents nearby, it seems this creature was indeed something quite dangerous even amongst their own ranks.

They were staying well away from this spectral female.

The specter grew larger in the Dark trio’s vision, its jagged teeth multiplying. Both of the creatures’ bony, frail hands extended like tendrils; more of such smoke-like tendrils protruded out of the specter’s body.

It became increasingly difficult to discern which parts of the creature’s body were ethereal and which were not. The tendrils clashed head-on against Jaden and Thorian, both wielding rune swords, slashing down at the dark tendrils.

Bang!!!

But to their shock, their sword strikes did not cut through them; instead, they were pushed back. Thorian said in displeasure, regaining foothold, "Curses, those extensions are now in physical form, I think, only the core body of it might be ethereal."

Jaden grimaced as he added, "Or maybe, the damn thing can switch between the two states."

No more words were spoken between them as they attacked once more. Thorian adapted his energy to mirror the attribute of gold, which Lucien wielded, though the Blackvale prince hated the very prospect of it to his very bone; the property remained disgustingly effective against the death energy.

Even with his watered-down adapted version, once the slight golden hue surrounded his rune sword, the blade cut through the tendril with relative ease, but the energy expenditure to generate even the smallest amount of the rare golden mana was too taxing on his mana reserves.

Scrahhahkheeehhhh!!!!

The specter screamed like a banshee in pain when the golden energy wielded by Thorian cut through its tendrils. Jaden also did something similar, with the light green wind attribute enshrouding his blade.

He could cut through the death energy, no matter if it was in a physical or ethereal state, as the spiritual wind was extremely sharp and deadly for any negative forms of energy. Just like Thorian, maintaining control of this wind element was extremely draining on his energy reserves.

The wind spirit summoned by Enrick also joined the fray, occasionally shooting wind to disrupt the movement or attacks coming towards the three of them. But the spirit itself was mostly a support-type summon; it did not have the capacity to fight itself.

Using this chance when the Ghost specter was completely distracted, Enrick had already prepared a massive spirit wind arrow; the strings of his rune bow were arched to the max, shooting it right towards where the core of the undead was supposed to be.

SWOSHH!!!

The head of the specter twisted towards Enrick. The creature showed a wide, crooked smile, as if it had already anticipated this move from him.

The specter opened its monstrous maw, and there came out a shrill cry, again that damn sonic attack which reduced both the power and speed of the cutting spirit wind arrow. But the specter did not close its mouth, but literally swallowed the arrow into its mouth, as if it had just eaten a meal.

Whosh!!!!

Yet the very next moment, the Ghost specter felt a sliver of pain from its core; its ethereal form flickered like a malfunctioning glitch, and when it looked down, it realized that another wind arrow had pierced straight through its core without the ghost even realizing it.

Enrick sneered at the specter, "The first wind shaft was just a fake, a cover for the real spirit arrow right behind it, dumb ghost."

VHOOSHSHS

The specter exploded into a cloud of smoke. For a moment, Thorian and Jaden both looked at their partner in crime in surprise.

Enrick, without looking at the two of them, brought out three round, black-colored artifacts, then threw them in three directions, all of which further exploded into smoke.

The samartan prince stated in a heavy tone, "This should block anyone from observing our movements. Hurry up with your potions and let’s get moving...."

His gaze was filled with ruthless hatred, almost unable to wait for what they were just about to do next.
