Extra's Path To Demon King
Chapter 511: Budding Feelings
Prince Nox Blackvale was covered in injuries from head to toe; his whole body was a mess. He had already killed more than 10 of those damned Death knights. The exhilaration he experienced each time he killed a strong adversary was palpable.
Until he met this damned bastard, unlike most of the Death Knights that had a Giant sword as large as their own frames, this one had a thin black rapier in hand, a female Death Knight.
The undead were the same as him, both in the initial 3rd phase. However, her raw skill in swordsmanship was utterly overwhelming.
Not to mention, her sword or rapier technique was too strange and deceiving, completely the opposite of how Death Knights usually fought straightforwardly.
The injuries Nox sustained in the previous battles had accumulated, further diminishing his battle prowess.
The Death Knight was utterly slippery; it would look like she was performing a slash from a certain direction, but in mid-motion, she would change the trajectory of the attack, then perform something entirely different.
Without losing power in her changed strike. It didn’t make sense, nor could Nox predict the actions of this strange Female Undead in any way. Once her attacks landed, her death energy was also destructively powerful.
If it weren’t for the effects of the rune sword he was wielding, as well as various other defensive artifacts on him. He really would have died at this Death Knight’s hands.
With no other choice, he decided to use his finishing move, which would cost a lot of power and leave him somewhat vulnerable for a few seconds; even so, he had to use it.
With an enraged growl that shook all the surrounding energies, he performed one single strong thrust of his sword, as he was now somewhat able to predict where she would attack or dodge his incoming attack through her strange movement technique.
BANG!!!!!
A massive hole appeared in the middle of the Death Knight’s chest, breaking through her impenetrable armor by sheer overwhelming force alone. Since it was impossible to beat the undead knight with his lacking sword skills, he just overpowered her with a sudden, overwhelming burst of strength.
But that was not without its cost; his muscles suddenly contracted due to all of his energy reserves being used in a single second, as it overloaded his mana pathways.
Prince Nox coughed up a mouthful of blood; his injuries worsened. The lingering death energy started to spread out more. Through gritted teeth, he brought out a precious vial of potion, the last of which he would be able to use since he had already used another in the span of a day.
The moment he gulped down the liquid, the healing was immediate, though not all of the Death Energy was expelled; most of it was indeed purged.
Fortunately, no powerful enemy came to attack him for the minute it took for him to heal completely. His mana reserves also regenerated by 20%, which was why this potion was exceptionally rare. After all, not many potions could heal a third-phase existence.
His gaze instantly went towards Princess Yasmin, who was fighting about 100 meters away. She was fending off against not one but two opponents alone: a powerful Death Knight and a Lich had combined forces, as if determined to kill her no matter the cost.
Nox had to admit reluctantly, as it may be, the princess was slightly stronger than he was. Something that he dearly admired. As they fought alongside one another quite a few times by now.
For a moment, his gaze went backward; his face grew cold and ferocious, but he did not see his hateful little Brother Thorian amid the chaos.
He scoffed in his heart, ’I hope you aren’t dead, my dear little brother. I want to see the despairing expression you have after all of this. When you go back to the palace and find how brutally your lowly mother died.’
’Then you will have my permission to die,’ he smiled darkly just at the thought of it. How dare Thorian think that he could ever vie for the Throne when he was born of a lowly farmhouse woman, on whom the King, his father, took a fancy on a foolish whim?
But he quickly erased those thoughts and dashed towards the princess, who was in danger of death. With his blade, he slashed at the barrier of the Lich that was trying to prevent him from going to help the princess. The Lich threw multiple more attacks on him.
But none were able to stop him. Instead of going towards the princess, he went on the offensive against the hateful Lich. Prince Nox was even more shocked when he realized that this Lich was just as strong as the Death Knight he had just killed.
Nox continued to throw sword slashes that cut through most of the magic of the Lich. Eventually, the horrid undead creature backed off. He stood near the princess, giving her a bit of breathing room. Her injuries were extremely grave.
He looked at the beautiful, gallant princess in such a bloody state with a trace of concern.
Yasmin did not say a word to him and gulped down a potion. Every royal family had their secret potion recipe that could heal the deadliest of wounds and even regenerate mana reserves to a certain extent.
But its use was quite limited; even for the royal families of the Great Kingdoms, it was too hard to make this potion in large quantities because the recipes were ancient and required special ingredients that were nearly extinct in the present era.
After she was more or less healed with some of her energy reserves returning, the brave princess noticed the worried gaze of Prince Nox and scoffed, "Don’t give me that look."
Nox snorted in displeasure, while turning his head, "I don’t know what you’re talking about."
Princess Yasmin showed a rare smile as their backs pressed against one another. Fighting intent filled their spirit like a combined tide. Neither of them needed to say anything to one another. The princess switched to her mage aspect, going after the Death Knight.
Nox went after the Lich with a vicious grin. At first, their two battles against their respective opponents were separate, but through the careful maneuvering of Nox and Yasmin, it became a two-vs-two battle.
When the princess of Samartan and the prince of Blackvale fought together, their combined power proved to be greater than the Lich and the Death Knight, as they had much prior experience of fighting shoulder to shoulder.
After a gruesome battle of absolute trust in each other, with some trickery against the strong opponents and an exchange of injuries, they managed to seriously injure their opponents, pushing them back with their strongest attack.
This was the norm between exceptionally powerful third-phase existences, as seekers on this level are extremely hard to kill in equal numbers in a standoff. Seriously injuring the opponent would be considered enough as a victory.
Princess Yasmin and Prince Nox huffed loudly, out of breath, injured, and bloody. Their backs resting against each other, sitting on the bloody and gruesome battlefield. Nox felt the warmth of the princess on his back—an awkward expression on his face.
Fighting alongside one another in so many brutal life-and-death battles was enough to inspire his simple appreciation of the brave and beautiful princess into something much more.
Yet, he did not know what to do with it. They were both the closest contenders to their thrones; they can’t possibly be in a relationship.
They were destined to oppose and scheme against each other. Forever remain in a tribunal standoff with Prince Lucien, included. No other feeling could exist.
And yet, he knew the princess also felt the same about him. At this moment, her soft voice reached him, "I really need a shower, I feel so disgusted."
Nox sighed. He had been with countless beautiful women; he would enjoy any he wanted, without restriction, as the successor to the throne. But with Princess Yasmin... she was different.
She was not like those sluts who would spread their legs for him at a single command, or maybe without him even asking for it. They would be ready to give him all, just for his attention, to gain power and influence.
No, in fact, he did not want to see the princess that way. His heartbeat grew louder as the thoughts spiraled in his mind.
Yasmin, she’s... beautiful, she is strong, she is brave, not afraid of death, and she is kind.
She is almost... perfect.
