Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 128: How Do You Know Her Name Is Nino?
Under the dim light from the window, he looked at Janice’s sleeping face and sighed in resignation. Then he gradually closed his eyes.
The next morning, Janice got up as usual. When she went downstairs, she saw a lively Nino.
"Nino, are you all right?"
She picked up Nino and held her in her arms.
Nino wagged her tail happily at her.
Janice played with her for a while. Then she put her down.
When she walked into the kitchen, Christopher had already made two sandwiches, which looked very delicious.
Janice couldn’t resist licking her lips.
"Honey, thanks for your hard work."
She picked up the two sandwiches and walked toward the dining room.
Christopher followed her with two glasses of milk.
They sat at the table and started eating breakfast.
Janice remembered something and asked, "Do you have time to take Nino to the examination later?"
Christopher glanced at the time and said, "I’m afraid not. I have a meeting in the morning."
Janice nodded and said, "All right, I’ll go."
She picked up the glass of milk and took a sip. As soon as she put it down, the doorbell rang.
"Who is it?"
So early in the morning.
Christopher stood up while saying, "Rob."
He walked toward the door. Soon, he returned with a document bag. Janice glanced behind him and asked, "Where’s Rob?"
"He has gone back." He put the document bag aside and continued to eat breakfast.
Janice said in surprise, "You’re kidding. Why do you ask him come over so early in the morning?"
Christopher glanced at her and said, "As my assistant, it’s his duty to be available
when I need him."
Janice twitched her mouth and said, "I know, you’re the boss."
Christopher took a sip of milk and put down the glass. Then he picked up the document bag on the table and opened it. He took out a stack of documents from it, but one of them unexpectedly fell at Janice’s feet.
Seeing this, she bent down to pick it up and accidentally scanned through its contents.
"What is this?"
Christopher looked over and said, "It should be the information about the secretary selected by Rob."
"Secretary?"
Initially, Janice did not intend to take a look, but when she heard the word, she took a closer look.
Soon, she saw the main point of the resume.
Female, beautiful, highly educated, multi-talented...
Her complexion darkened. "Are you selecting a concubine? So many requirements."
She threw the resume over.
Christopher glanced at the resume she threw over and looked at her meaningfully. "Why? Are you jealous?"
Janice glared at him and answered, "No."
"No? Anger’s showing on your face right at this moment." Christopher chuckled.
"So, what’s the requirement for being your secretary?" Janice asked.
Christopher thought for a moment and said, "It is Rob who are responsible for recruitment. I only have one requirement -- to abide by his or her duty."
Janice’s expression eased up slightly when she heard this.
"It seems that you still remember you’ve married."
Christopher said meaningfully, "Do you want to admit that you are jealous? If you do, I can make the requirement more demanding."
Janice refused in her heart.
<He is so handsome and attractive. If I really have to guard against other women all the time, I would be dog-tired.>
After breakfast, the two drove away separately.
Janice took Nino to the hospital while Christopher went to his office.
When he entered his office, he called Rob in.
"Start the meeting right now. Arrange it."
"Yes," Rob replied.
Rob turned around and was about to go out.
"Wait."
Christopher stopped him and said, "Change the requirements for recruiting secretary. Only males are permitted to apply."
...
Rob confusedly asked, "But Mr. Bateman, your secretary has always been female."
"From now on, only males are allowed."
After Christopher finished his instructions, he lowered his head and continued to work. Rob stood there for a few seconds before turning to leave.
A short while later, Rob returned.
"Mr. Bateman, since you have said that you don’t accept women, what about this?"
Rob weakly raised a resume.
Christopher raised his eyes and looked over. When he saw the information on the resume, his eyes turned cold.
Janice drove to the pet hospital.
She parked the car and this time she did not dare to leave Nino out of her sight for a moment.
She walked in the hospital with Nino.
However, she was informed that the original vet had asked for leave today and was directed to the examination room on the third floor.
Janice carried Nino to the third floor and saw a female in a lab coat in the room. Then she carried Nino in.
"Hello, are you Doctor Valen?"
The woman raised her head and looked at Janice. "Yes, I am."
Her face was covered by a mask, revealing only a pair of bright eyes.
Janice felt that she had seen this pair of eyes before, but she couldn’t remember exactly.
She said, "The nurse downstairs asked me to come here for the examination." "What’s wrong with the dog?" The veterinarian asked.
Janice stepped forward with Nino in her arms and said, "Last time, another doctor said that she had caught a cold and prescribed for her. After taking the medicine, she looks much better today."
As the doctor listened, she examined Nino.
"She is recovering well. You need to feed her some dog food that is specially taken during the period of illness. Eat less but more times. Pay attention to her digestion."
"Thank you, doctor," Janice said.
"You’re welcome."
She smiled at her, revealing a pair of crescent eyes.
Seeing this, Janice asked, "Doctor Valen, have we met before?"
The doctor did not speak, but slowly took off her mask.
Upon seeing her entire face, Janice was surprised.
"It’s you?"
The doctor nodded. "It’s nice to meet you again."
Janice stared at the woman in front of her. She only felt that it must be fate.
She subconsciously glanced at the work card in front of her chest.
"Sophie Valen."
<So her name is Sophie Valen. Not only is she good-looking, her voice is gentle, even her name sounds so beautiful.
The name really fits her.>
"Thank you, Doctor Valen," Janice thanked her again.
Sophie smiled and said, "It’s okay."
Janice said, "Then I’ll be leaving."
Sophie nodded and waved her hand towards Nino who was in Janice’s arms. "Nino, bye."
Janice was about to leave. But when she heard this, she turned around and looked at Sophie in confusion. "Doctor Valen, how did you know her name?"
Sophie awkwardly said, "I heard you call her during the examination."
Janice was still a little confused.
<Did I just call out her name?
Perhaps.>
She didn’t think much about it and left with Nino.
Sophie stared at her departing figure, curled her lips, and sat back down. Suddenly, her phone rang.
She picked it up.
"Dad."
"Sophie, where have you been so early in the morning?"
Nathan’s voice came from the phone.
Sophie answered, "Dad, I’m going to work."
"Work? Where do you work?"
Sophie answered, "Before I came back, I had already contacted a pet hospital in Denvolo."
On the other end of the line, Nathan frowned and scolded, "Why do you keep fiddling with those things?"
...
"Dad, as you know, I’ve always liked these small animals," said Sophie.
Nathan paused and then said, "I’ve already arranged it for you. Your brother needs a secretary. Go and help him."
However, Sophie said, "Dad, I’d better not. He hasn’t forgiven me yet."
"Silly, it’s not your fault. Why can’t he forgive?"
"But..."
"No buts. You come to his company now. I’ll wait for you there."
With that, Nathan promptly hung up the phone.
Hearing the beep sound coming from inside, Sophie put away her phone, took off her white gown, and walked out.
Janice put Nino in the back seat. When she sat in the driver’s seat, she saw Sophie walk out of the hospital.
She seemed to be waiting for a taxi and kept looking at the road.
Janice paused for a moment, then walked over.
"Doctor Valen."
Sophie nodded when she saw Janice.
"Are you waiting for a taxi?"
Sophie nodded.
"Why don’t I send you off?" Janice suggested. "That’s too much trouble for you." Sophie said. Janice shook her head. "No, I have time. Let’s go." Hearing this, Sophie followed her over.
Janice waited for Sophie to fasten her seatbelt and then drove the car out.
"Doctor Valen, where are you going?" Janice asked.
Sophie replied, "Techno Tower."
"Techno Tower?"
"What a coincidence!" Janice was stunned.
Sophie looked at her and asked, "You’re going to Techno Tower as well?"
Janice shook her head. "No, my husband works there."
"Well, I see."
Sophie looked down and shifted her gaze to Nino, who was sitting in the back seat.
She stretched out to pick up Nino, put her on her lap, and fondled her.
Nino lay there, docile and obedient.
Janice was a bit surprised when she saw this scene. After all, Nino wasn’t as gentle as she seemed to be.
She said, "Nino seems to like you very much. Normally she’s very cagey around strangers."
Sophie smiled faintly, "Maybe it’s because I’m a veterinarian."
Janice thought for a moment and agreed. After all, Doctor Valen worked with animals all the time.
"By the way, you must also like small animals very much," said Sophie.
Janice nodded, "I do."
"Then... We have a dog club. Would you like to join it?"
Sophie looked over.
Janice replied, "Of course, but I might not have much time."
"It doesn’t take too much time. You just need to participate in the club activities. If you are really busy, you can just not come. We are all people who cherish dogs. It’s good to occasionally gather together and discuss how to take care of dogs."
Janice nodded, "Alright, I’ll join you."
Not long later, the car stopped in front of Techno Tower.
Sophie put Nino back and then thanked Janice, "Thank you for sending me here."
Janice said, "My pleasure. I should also thank you for saving Nino last time."
Sophie didn’t say anything more. She opened the car, got out, and waved at her.
Janice waved at her and drove the car away.
Sophie stood there and stared at her car until it disappeared from her sight. Only then did she look away, and inadvertently, her gaze became even more mysterious.
She turned to walk into the building and saw Denise standing at the door.
