Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 129: Everyone Guesses That He Is A Gay
She seemed to have been standing there for a long time.
Sophie felt a little anxious in her heart, but she maintained her usual calm. She quickly calmed down and walked forward.
"Miss Kelshore."
Denise stared at her, her cold face devoid of emotion, later she said in a formal tone, "The president is waiting inside."
Sophie could not find any traces on her face. She nodded and said, "Then let’s go in."
The two walked in one after the other.
"Dad."
On the sofa in the lounge area on the first floor, Nathan was sitting there with his clothes straight. Several staff members of the building were standing around him in a respectful manner.
"Sophie, let’s go."
Nathan stood up.
Sophie walked up and held his arm.
"Dad, do you really want me to be his secretary?"
Nathan nodded.
"But... I don’t think I can help him at all. On the contrary, I may be a burden to him."
Sophie lowered her eyes.
Hearing this, Nathan stopped and looked over. "Why do you think so? You’re a top student graduating from Switzerland. How difficult could a secretary be?"
"But you also know that my mind is actually focused on pets," Sophie said while lowering her head.
However, Nathan said with a frown, "You silly child. If you like pets, you can buy that pet hospital. You don’t need to do anything yourself. This is also a way of liking. Remember, time should be spent wisely. Never waste your time in such worthless thing, understand?"
Although Sophie didn’t agree with Nathan’s words, she still nodded obediently, "I understand."
"Let’s go."
Nathan didn’t say anything more and walked toward the elevator.
In the conference room on the top floor, as soon as the meeting was over, Rob
walked over.
"Mr. Bateman, your father is here."
Christopher was not surprised to hear this. As early as this morning, after Rob showed him that resume, he had guessed that his father would come.
He got up and walked out without saying anything.
Nathan and Sophie were walking toward the VIP reception room.
Outside the reception room, Cecilia saw the two and greeted, "Chairman."
Nathan didn’t pay attention to such an insignificant employee, and he walked over and kept looking steadily forward.
But when Sophie passed Cecilia, she deliberately nodded at her.
When Christopher entered the reception room, he saw his father and Sophie sitting there.
He had a rough idea of what was going on.
"Why are you here?"
He sat down on a relatively distant seat.
Nathan looked over and said, "I brought Sophie here to work."
"Work?"
Christopher frowned and asked, "Are you mistaken? There is no suitable position for her here."
Nathan glanced at Sophie beside him and said, "I have heard you are looking for a secretary."
Christopher sneered, "You have heard? It seems you’ve planted quite a few spies around me."
He narrowed his eyes and looked over.
Nathan didn’t say anything, but Sophie couldn’t help tightening her grip under the table.
"Rob, do you know who this spy is?" He suddenly asked.
Before Rob could answer, a loud bang sounded from the door, attracting everyone’s attention.
At the door, Cecilia stood there in shock, with coffee stains all over her body and on the ground, which made her look very embarrassed.
...
Before anyone could react, Sophie had already rushed over.
"Are you okay? Did you get burned?"
Her face was full of concern.
Cecilia shook her head in horror.
Seeing this, Sophie quickly asked, "Do you have a first aid kit? I’ll take you to get bandaged."
She winked at Cecilia.
Cecilia then understood what she meant and quickly said, "Yes."
Only then did Sophie look at Nathan and Christopher. "I’ll take care of her first."
Then, she helped Cecilia walk out.
It was not until the two disappeared that Nathan changed his ex[ression. When Sophie was here, he didn’t want Chris to lose reputation.
Now that Sophie had left, there was no need.
"It’s settled then. Sophie will start working here tomorrow."
He ordered directly.
However, Christopher sneered, "Do you think there is Bateman Group?"
Christopher looked over casually.
Nathan asked, "What? Can’t I make the decision?"
"You really can’t make the decision."
Christopher looked at Rob and said, "Repeat my requirement for the secretary to the chairman."
"Yes."
Rob answered honestly, "Mr. Bateman has a rule for the secretary’s gender that only males are allowed."
"You..."
"How is it, father?" Christopher looked at his father provocatively.
Nathan’s face was full of anger. "Rules are set by people. They can be changed."
"Is that so?" Christopher snorted and then looked at Rob.
Rob received the signal and stepped forward, saying, "The recruitment information posted by the company on the Internet this morning has clearly stated that only males are allowed to work as secretaries. In the morning, 273 media companies
have reposted it."
As Rob spoke, he handed over the iPad in his hand.
Denise reached out to take it and glanced at it, then whispered to Nathan.
Nathan’s face became livid. The single greatest PR taboo was a company going back on its word.
As a businessman, he understood this principle.
"It seems that you are determined not to let Sophie come to work."
Christopher remained silent and agreed tacitly.
Nathan stared at him angrily for a few seconds, then snorted and left.
Denise hurriedly put the iPad back and followed.
After they left, Christopher sneered.
In the tea room outside.
Sophie was applying ointment and cotton swabs on Cecilia’s wound.
Thinking of Cecilia’s reaction just now, she frowned.
"Cecilia, why were you so careless?"
There was a hint of displeasure in her tone.
Cecilia was in a panic and did not understand the meaning of her words, but she thought of her own matter and asked, "Do you think Mr. Bateman will suspect me?"
Sophie glanced at her and said, "Don’t scare yourself. I know my brother’s temper. If he’s already found out, he won’t say anything and will just solve it without anyone else knowing."
Hearing her words, Cecilia was even more scared.
"Will they kill me?"
Sophie said, "What are you thinking about? At most, you’ll be fired." Hearing that, Cecilia breathed a sigh of relief. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"Well, have you seen Janice yet?" Cecilia remembered and asked.
Sophie’s hand paused. "Cecilia, I don’t like people probing into me, including you."
Cecilia hurriedly said, "I’m sorry. I promise I won’t ask you again."
Sophie applied medicine to her wounds and put them away. At the same time, Denise walked over.
...
"The chairman is waiting for you in the car."
Hearing this, Sophie stood up and told Cecilia not to touch water in the next few days. Then she left with Denise.
"Miss Kelshore."
When she entered the elevator, she looked at Denise.
Denise looked over, waiting for her to continue.
Sophie paused for and while and said, "What did my brother... say after I left?"
Denise’s face remained expressionless when she heard Sophie’s question. She only said, "The chairman will tell you later."
Of course, Sophie knew Nathan would tell her the result.
However, she wanted to know now.
She rolled her eyes and said, "I bought you a gift in Switzerland. I was too busy last night to give it to you. Why don’t you come back with me to my home and I’ll give it to you?"
"No need," Denise said.
"Denise, can you not always be so cold to me? We’ve known each other since we were young. I’ve always treated you as my own sister." Sophie lowered her eyes and said.
When Denise heard this, she smiled coldly. The smile quickly vanished as she said, "Sophie, do you believe these words yourself?"
Just then, the elevator opened with a ding-dong sound.
Denise walked out.
Sophie was stunned by her words, and she paused for a moment before following her out.
"Sophie, the position has been changed temporarily. Why don’t you help dad first? Come to Dad’s company and I need you very much."
As Sophie entered the car, Nathan spoke to her with a hint of guilt.
Although Sophie had already expected that Christopher would refuse, she was still a little surprised.
She didn’t expect that Christopher would refuse father’s request.
She said, "Dad, I’m not going to your company. I still want to stay in the hospital."
Nathan looked at her, paused for a moment, and then said lovingly, "Well, when you want to come back, you are welcome at any time."
Janice spent the entire morning in the office, reading a script.
At noon, she went to the dining hall for lunch. As soon as she entered, she heard a few girls gathered around and chattering.
"Did you read the news this morning? I heard that our tech giant is a gay."
"Gay?"
"He likes men. Look, this is his company’s recruitment content. It is clearly written on it that secretaries are only limited to males."
Janice was confused. "Who’s the tech giant?"
While she was wondering, someone patted her on the shoulder.
"Hey, Janice."
Lucy stood behind her with a plate, which was full of food. It seemed that she had just arrived.
"Why are you so late?" Janice asked.
Lucy sat opposite her and said, "I went out for an interview and just came back."
"Well."
Janice nodded. When she thought of what she just heard, she asked, "Who is Tomaville’s tech giant?"
"Of course Christopher Bateman," Lucy asked curiously, "are you interested in him?" "I’m just asking." Janice smiled.
Lucy said, "Well, let me tell you, I have heard that he has been looking for a secretary in public recently. It says that only men are allowed. Everyone is guessing that he is a gay."
Janice was drinking water when she heard Lucy’s words. She couldn’t help but spit on Lucy’s face.
She quickly handed over a tissue to wipe Lucy with a guilty conscience. Lucy rolled her eyes at her. "Why are you so excited?"
