Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 154: Can I Ask You Something?
Nanny Daisy opened the door of the cloakroom and walked in to a dazzling array of clothes.
Gladys couldn’t help widening her eyes. She stared at those clothes with her mouth agape.
This was not a cloakroom at all. It was more like a large fashion exhibition. There were probably more than a thousand items of clothing contained here.
Moreover, every single one of them was of the highest quality.
It looked tasteful, fashionable and more high-end than the clothes she owned.
Gladys thought that it would be great if all of these were hers.
Gladys was secretly in awe, but the greed in her eyes was obvious.
Nanny Daisy had worked in the Allson family for more than 30 years and had seen all kinds of people. Seeing Gladys’ expression, she had already guessed what she was thinking. She couldn’t help feeling a little disdainful, but still politely reminded her, "Mrs. Gladwell, please choose."
Gladys came to her senses and met Nanny Daisy’s eyes. She quickly suppressed her desire and said, "Look, there are so many clothes here that I’m dazzled. And I don’t know which one suits me. Why don’t you let me choose carefully?"
Nanny Daisy said in her heart, "There are so many clothes. If she was allowed to choose carefully, it was likely that the meal would be finished by the time she’s done."
Moreover, these were all Miss Wanda’s clothes. It was good enough that the Old Master was willing to let Gladys wear them, but she still wanted to pick a beautiful one. She was so shameless.
However, she was still a servant. Even if she was not happy with her, she could not say anything. She only said, "Mrs. Gladwell’s figure is about the same as Miss Wanda’s. You can wear any of the clothes here. How about this? I think this one looks pretty nice."
Nanny Daisy took out a dark green dress as she spoke.
Gladys was unhappy that a servant was making a decision for her. Besides, the dress was taken out from the corner. It was obvious that the owner didn’t like it very much, and yet the nanny wanted her to wear it.
So, she said, "This one is too green for my skin. I’d better choose one myself." As she spoke, she stretched out her hand to search the wardrobe.
Nanny Daisy was infuriated. She was already an old hag, why was she being so picky? Didn’t she know what kind of place this was?
As soon as she put the dress back, she saw Gladys walking toward the luxury
collections in the cabinet.
Seeing that, Nanny Daisy hurried forward to stop her. "You can’t touch the clothes over there, they’re Miss Wanda’s limited editions."
Hearing Nanny Daisy’s words, Gladys was stunned. She just felt that the clothes here were particularly good-looking, so she came over, but she didn’t expect that they were limited edition.
After all, a luxury brand’s limited edition could not be bought with money. She would be willing to die just to wear one once.
Thinking of this, she couldn’t help but come up with an idea. Then she pretended to cooperate and said, "I won’t choose the ones over there. I... I’ll choose this one."
As she spoke, she casually picked out a dress.
Seeing that, Nanny Daisy relaxed. However, she said, "Since you’re done picking, then hurry up and change. Sir is waiting downstairs."
"Of course, but when I’m changing, I don’t like being watched by others. Why don’t you go downstairs first and I’ll go after I change?"
Hearing Gladys’ words, Nanny Daisy remembered that there was something still cooking in the kitchen below and said, "Then I’ll go down first. You can come down after changing."
...
Gladys nodded, but after Nanny Daisy left, she immediately put the dress back and went to the limited collection.
Downstairs, Sophie changed her dress and returned to her seat.
Old Mr. Allson flicked a glance in the direction of the stairs. "Where’s Janice? Why hasn’t she come down yet?"
Sophie said, "Oh, Janice said she wants to rest."
The moment she finished speaking, Janice slowly walked down the stairs.
Their gazes met, and Sophie smiled meaningfully. "Janice, you don’t look well. Why didn’t you rest a little longer?"
Janice naturally understood her sarcasm. In her heart, she thought, "The more you want to see me angry, the more I’m going to remain calm. It’s just a bed, it doesn’t mean anything."
Thinking of this, she also pretended to smile and replied, "Thank you for your concern. I’m fine."
Sophie, on the other hand, saw Janice’s nonchalant expression and could not help but feel a trace of doubt. Could it be that she really did not care?
Or was she just pretending to be happy?
Thinking of this, she raised her eyebrows slightly and accidentally met Christopher’s warning eyes. She couldn’t help shivering, and then quickly looked away guiltily.
Janice saw this quick exchange.
She glanced between the two of them and finally looked at Christopher’s face. She snorted in her heart and decided silently to settle the score with him later.
She glanced around and saw that Gladys’ seat was empty. She was surprised, and then whispered to Christopher, "Where’s Auntie?"
Only then did Christopher remember that Gladys seemed to have been gone for a long time. He said, "Nanny Daisy took her upstairs to change. Didn’t you see them?"
Janice shook her head. When she saw Nanny Daisy coming out of the kitchen with a bowl of hot soup, she couldn’t help having a bad feeling in her heart.
She didn’t know if she was overthinking, but she felt that something was wrong. She said, "I’ll go and take a look."
With that, she turned around and prepared to go upstairs but then she saw Gladys coming down.
Janice heaved a sigh of relief when she saw her come down. At least she didn’t get up to anything.
She turned back to the table, only to find that everyone’s expression had changed.
Almost everyone’s eyes were on Gladys.
This was particularly true for Old Mr. Allson. Although he had a poker face, he exuded a frosty aura.
Janice was puzzled and followed everyone’s gaze to look in Gladys’ direction.
However, she didn’t think there was anything wrong with it. Although the dress was a little beautiful, it wasn’t that attention grabbing.
She couldn’t help touching Christopher beside her in confusion. "What’s wrong?" Christopher did not speak, but stared at her with a serious look.
In the midst of Janice’s confusion, Nanny Daisy suddenly yelled and charged over. "Mrs. Gladwell, how could you wear this?"
Gladys originally wanted to show up beautifully in front of everyone, but she didn’t expect to be shouted at by Nanny Daisy. She immediately felt embarrassed and pretended ignorance.
"What’s wrong with this one?"
Nanny Daisy wanted to say something, but she was unsure what to say.
...
If she had known this would happen, she wouldn’t have come down and left Gladys alone. What should she do now?
Nanny Daisy’s eyes darted frantically at Old Master Allson, only to find him sitting there, saying nothing.
Nanny Daisy had worked in the Allson family for decades so how could she not tell that he was angry? She turned to glare at Gladys and said softly, "You’ve made a big mistake. Didn’t I tell you that you can’t touch those clothes?"
Nanny Daisy pulled Gladys upstairs as she spoke.
Gladys couldn’t get out of Nanny Daisy’s hold, so she looked at Janice for help.
Janice didn’t understand what was happening either.
But she thought that Nanny Daisy wouldn’t do this without a reason, she was about to speak when Old Master Allson spoke.
"It’s just an outfit. Nanny Daisy, hurry up and invite Mrs. Gladwell to eat. The dishes are about to get cold."
Only then did Nanny Daisy release Gladys.
Gladys didn’t know what had happened. After Nanny Daisy let go of her, she returned to her seat.
As soon as she sat down, Old Master Allson said to Janice, "It’s your family’s first time visiting me. Please host them well on my behalf."
After saying that, without waiting for Janice’s reply, he said to everyone, "I’m not feeling well, so I’ll leave you all to enjoy the meal."
As he spoke, he got up and walked toward his bedroom.
Janice was stunned. She was about to chase after him and ask when Christopher grabbed her arm.
"Let Grandpa be by himself for a while." Christopher’s face was also serious. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Janice could only sit back down, but she was even more confused. She did not understand why Old Master Allson suddenly became like this.
Shortly, Nathan also stood up and said, "In that case, there is no need for us to stay any longer. Sophie, let’s go."
As he spoke, he got up and walked out of the door.
When Sophie saw this, she hurriedly caught up, but before she left, she threw a sneer at Janice.
With the three of them gone, naturally, Malcolm couldn’t stay any longer, so he winked at Gladys and said, "Janice, Christopher, since your grandfather is not feeling well, we should leave and come visit him another day."
With that, he got up and dragged Gladys to the door.
In this way, all the people at the table left in an instant, leaving only a table full of sumptuous dinner that no one touched.
No matter how stupid Janice was, she understood something happened.
But she was unable to understand exactly what happened.
Therefore, she looked at Christopher. Before she could ask, Christopher stood up and said, "I’m going to visit Grandpa."
As he spoke, he walked toward Old Master Allson’s bedroom, leaving behind Janice, who sat and watched him leave in a daze.
Who could tell her exactly what was going on?
Thinking that such a birthday was destroyed just like that, Janice felt extremely sad.
She glanced at Nanny Daisy, and walked over.
She had no choice but to ask: "Nanny Daisy, may I ask you something?" Nanny Daisy’s gaze shifted away. "Miss, I’m just a servant. Please ask Sir." As she spoke, she walked out with red-rimmed eyes. Janice was left behind, her curiosity piqued.
