Flash Marriage: My Penniless Billionaire Husband
Chapter 90: Wait For Me
Christopher nodded in agreement. "Yes, that’s the reason."
Janice understood. That was just an excuse. The real reason was due to her relationship with Christopher.
She said, "Did your family oppose our relationship?"
Christopher was silent. He reached out to hold her hand and assured, "Don’t let your imagination run wild. It’s nothing like that."
He reached out and hugged her.
Janice lay quietly in Christopher’s arms. She knew that Christopher wasn’t telling her the truth.
She said, "Actually, you don’t have to hide it from me. You should let me know what they think of us so I can prepare myself beforehand."
Christopher’s heart ached after he heard Janice. He furrowed his eyebrows and said, "Don’t be silly. My grandpa adores you. Don’t stress out about these things."
"Of course I know that he likes me. I’m referring to your father," Janice said. Then she raised her head to look at his chin.
Christopher caressed her hair and soothed her. "You don’t have to worry about him." "How can I not worry? He is your father." Janice frowned and sighed in her mind.
Christopher readjusted her position after he heard her. Then he said seriously, "Janice, marriage is a private matter between us. You don’t need to care about what others think about us. Understand?"
His tone was very firm.
Janice knew that he was saying it to comfort himself.
She had always known that marriage was never about just the couple; it was a unification of two families.
She was well aware of her family’s background. Even though Christopher didn’t mind it, he couldn’t guarantee that his family would think the same.
Moreover, there was indeed a huge gap between her and Christopher.
Nevertheless, she was unable to change the reality.
Since she couldn’t do anything about it, it was futile to think about it.
Plus, Christopher must have been even more stressed than her.
She could overcome this since Christopher could bear the pressure to be with her.
She reaffirmed her thoughts.
Christopher drove back home.
When they got home, Christopher went to the bathroom to take a shower.
Janice pondered on her relationship with Christopher. They were not officially husband and wife, since they had yet to consummate the marriage.
Since Christopher had put so much effort into their relationship, she should do the same as well. She took out the painkillers from the box that Yvonne gave her.
She thought, "Stop dawdling! Let’s do it today."
She took out the medicine and was about to swallow it before the bathroom door swung open.
Janice paused for a moment and quickly hid the medicine behind her back for fear of being discovered by him.
Christopher walked out of the bathroom and saw Janice’s panicked expression. He didn’t know what she was hiding behind her.
His eyes darkened. "Why are you still here?"
Janice hurriedly said, "I’m just a little thirsty. I want to get a glass of water."
Christopher examined the panic on her face. Obviously, he didn’t believe what she said, but he didn’t expose her. "Go take a shower. It’s getting late. You better go to bed early."
Janice nodded.
In order not to arouse his suspicion, she quietly stuffed the medicine back into the bag while he was not paying attention.
A thought flashed across her mind and she proposed the idea. "Honey, why don’t we try again tonight?" She asked.
Christopher paused and looked at her in confusion. "Are you sure?"
Janice bit her lips and nodded.
Christopher stared at her. Janice was lowering her head shyly. He narrowed his eyes and conceded, "Okay."
After hearing what he had said, Janice mumbled shyly, "Then... wait for me." After that, she walked to the bathroom bashfully.
...
Christopher stared at her departing figure and wondered. After all, Janice wept and wailed loudly yesterday night. Why would she want to try again so soon?
She must have kept something away from him.
Thinking of this, he went over to where she was and glanced around. Finally, his gaze was fixated on her bag.
Just now, Janice seemed to have been very nervous about the bag’s contents. He opened it to see.
When Janice came out of the bathroom, Christopher was reading a book on the sofa.
She thought of what she had told Christopher and slowly walked over.
But Christopher was focusing on the book. He didn’t even raise his head to look at her.
She pursed her lips and snatched the book away from him.
Christopher only raised his head and looked at her silently after she snatched the book away from him. He stared at her intently with his deep-set eyes.
Janice was already embarrassed, to begin with, and his stare made her even more embarrassed. She pursed her lips and said, "Honey, it’s getting late. Let’s go to sleep."
Christopher was silent. He stared at her and paused for two seconds before nodding. "Okay." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
He walked to the bed and lifted the quilt.
Janice was confused when she saw Christopher’s action. Initially, she planned to take the medicine secretly without him noticing it.
Surprisingly, he laid on the bed like a log.
It was as if he was waiting for her to take the initiative.
Janice was flustered. She couldn’t take the painkillers right in front of him.
Thinking of this, she said, "Christopher, I suddenly feel thirsty. Can you help me get a glass of water downstairs?"
As she spoke, she deliberately expressed her thirst with an exaggerated expression.
Christopher laid there and stared at her. After pausing for two seconds, he said, "Okay."
He got up and walked out of the room.
Janice stood there and stared at him as he walked out of the room. It was not until he left that she quickly turned around and opened her backpack. She rummaged
through her bag, trying to find the medicine but she couldn’t find it.
It was strange. She clearly remembered that she placed the medicine back in the bag.
"Why can’t I find it all of a sudden?" She thought.
Janice was puzzled.
"Are you looking for this?"
Suddenly, a voice could be heard behind her. Janice paused and turned around to look behind her. She was stunned when she saw Christopher holding the medicine. "You..."
Christopher walked towards her and stopped right in front of her. He stared at her panicked expression and scowled. "Janice, didn’t I tell you that you’re not allowed to take painkillers?"
"I..."
Janice was flustered as she was caught on the spot. She froze and didn’t know how to explain herself.
Christopher noticed her uneasiness and reached out to hold her hand. He sighed, "Janice, you still don’t believe me, do you?"
"I..."
"I told you, we are husband and wife. We can do this slowly. You don’t need to worry about it or rush through it. Just let things take their natural course, ok? Don’t you know that painkillers are harmful to you?"
"No, I..." Janice bit her lip. She didn’t know what to say so she blurted, "Christopher, I just want to be consummate our marriage. I..."
She didn’t know how to describe her current mood to him.
...
It wasn’t that she didn’t understand, nor that she didn’t believe Christopher. She was just disappointed in herself.
There was such a big status gap between them.
If she still had such a defect, she really had no confidence in this marriage.
She just wanted to try her best to change.
However, she seemed to be too anxious, so she neglected Christopher’s thoughts.
Thinking of this, she said, "I’m sorry, Christopher. From now on, I won’t take any random medicine."
Hearing what she said, Christopher reached out and pulled her into his arms.
"That’s what you promised. If you dare to take any painkillers behind my back, I’ll spank you."
Christopher patted her little butt gently as he spoke. Janice’s face burned red and hot.
However, she was relieved by Christopher’s joke.
She thought that she really needed to let nature take its course.
That night, the two of them hugged each other and slept soundly.
When she woke up the next morning, Christopher was gone.
She glanced at the time and found that it was almost nine o’clock, and she had overslept.
She remembered that she had made an appointment with Denise yesterday to meet a sponsor at ten o’clock. She quickly got up and washed up. When she went downstairs, she found Christopher sitting on the sofa in the living room reading the newspaper.
She was a little surprised. "You... why didn’t you go to work?"
Hearing her voice, Christopher put down the newspaper and looked up.
"I was waiting for you."
"Waiting for me?"
Janice was stunned. "We’re not going to the same place. Are you sure you want to wait for me?"
Christopher said, "It’s my responsibility to drive my wife to work. Come and have breakfast. I’ll bring you there after you finish eating."
He got up and walked toward the dining table.
Janice followed him. "I’m not going to the TV station this morning. I might not be on your way."
"Is that so?"
Christopher frowned. "Looks like I won’t have the pleasure today."
He sounded a little disappointed.
Janice couldn’t help but smile. "How about I allow you to take me there?"
Only then did Christopher smile. "That’s more like it."
He had delayed a meeting to wait for her, at least this made his efforts worthwhile.
After breakfast, Janice got in Christopher’s car and headed to the appointed place.
Although Christopher had bought her a car, it was too ostentatious for her to drive it.
After all, the car was too expensive for her to afford.
She felt that it was better to keep a low profile during the new program filming.
Soon, the car arrived at the appointed place. It was a very quiet cafe.
Christopher parked his car on the side of the road and subconsciously looked in the direction of the coffee shop. "Why are you not going to the TV station?"
Janice unfastened her seat belt and said, "Oh, we have an appointment to meet a sponsor today."
"A sponsor?"
Christopher frowned. "Man or woman."
Janice was stunned for a moment. Then she seemed to understand his meaning and said, "I don’t know the identity of the person. However, my boss and I are both women."
She gave Christopher a meaningful look.
Christopher chuckled and stopped asking.
Janice got out of the car. She waved at him and said, "Be careful on the way."
Christopher nodded. He waited for her to enter the cafe before he drove the car away.
Janice walked in, but Denise had not arrived yet.
She found a seat by the window and sat down. It wasn’t long before Denise arrived in a hurry.
"Sorry, there was a traffic jam on the road. You’ve been waiting for a long time," Denise said.
Janice shook her head. "I’ve just arrived."
Denise nodded and placed a document in front of her. "This is the sponsor’s information. You should familiarize yourself with it first."
Janice took it and opened it, only to find that it was the same jewelry brand they had seen yesterday.
