Future Pet Shop
Chapter 176: I’m Going to Beat the Boss of This Construction Site to Death
After a full day of shooting, even Hah’Er was a little tired, to say nothing of Shen Yibin. The guy was now sitting on a small stool, breathing heavily and too exhausted to even speak. It couldn’t be helped. After all, he had to guide Hah’Er for every single shot, and that was all strenuous, physical work.
And the worst part was, no one else could do the directing. Hah’Er simply wouldn’t pay them any mind. Dong personally stepped up to demonstrate actions like pushing a small cart and patching a wall, but Hah’Er just ignored him. He would only start carrying bricks, pushing the cart, welding, and doing other tasks after Shen Yibin himself came forward to show him how, which completely wore Shen Yibin out.
"You’re probably too tired to cook today. Go home and take a shower, then come eat out with us. Bring all your store employees along," Xu Ye said, gloating.
"Fine. I’m going to eat you out of house and home," Shen Yibin said through gritted teeth. ’This bastard’s definitely doing this on purpose! He could find all those miniature tools for Hah’Er, but he couldn’t figure out a way to make things easier for me?’
"Eat your heart out. You can even get takeout if you can’t finish. Let’s see how much you can put away." Xu Ye chuckled. He didn’t care about the expense; when he thought about the immense prestige this campaign would bring his company once it launched, what was the cost of a single meal? He wouldn’t even mind treating Shen Yibin to a ’special massage,’ though he doubted the guy had the guts for it.
’Then again, if my company had three gorgeous women like that, I wouldn’t have any interest in ’special massages’ either, would I?’ Xu Ye mused, thinking of Sylvie, Sun Qian, and Sakai Kaori. Those three were all total knockouts.
"Director Dong, after dinner tonight, we’ll head back to do the post-production. The campaign should be able to start by tomorrow evening. Have your finance department keep a close eye on your account and maintain good records. When the time comes, send me the list of all donations and expenditures. That way, I can be accountable to all the kind donors." Now that they had rested, it was time for the group to leave.
"Thank you all so, so much." Dong was so emotional he was at a loss for words. He had watched the entire photoshoot and had complete confidence in the photos.
A convoy of several cars pulled up to Shen Yibin’s shop. The moment they walked in, Sylvie, Sun Qian, and Sakai Kaori were horrified to see Hah’Er dressed as a construction worker. When they saw the smudges of dirt on his face and body, Sylvie looked ready to kill Shen Yibin. ’How could you do this to Hah’Er? I’ll murder you!’
"It’s just makeup, it’s all makeup!" Shen Yibin hurriedly explained. Xu Ye also stepped forward to help, and it took quite some effort before they finally managed to placate the three furious women.
"BWAHAHAHAHA, Hah’Er, this outfit finally suits your vibe! Starting tomorrow, you don’t need to hang around the shop—go get a job and support yourself!" Cheeky was laughing hysterically, banging on the coffee table as it spoke.
"Gah?" Egg waddled over curiously, tugging at Hah’Er’s clothes and tapping on his helmet, apparently very interested in the outfit. This sent Cheeky, who had just gotten to its feet, collapsing onto the coffee table in a fit of laughter. "BWAHAHAHAHA! You two really are brothers! Hah’Er, take it with you to work tomorrow."
"Mmm!" Hah’Er took off his safety helmet and plopped it onto Egg’s head. But Egg’s head was several sizes smaller than his. The sight of the huge helmet sitting on the tiny head looked just like a classic cartoon character—a little kid completely swallowed by an oversized army helmet. The scene instantly sent everyone collapsing with laughter again.
Egg, however, didn’t mind at all. In fact, it puffed out its chest and held its head high, strutting proudly around the lobby. Sakai Kaori tried to take the helmet off several times, but Egg refused to let her. In the end, she could only let it be. It seemed she had made some progress recently; she no longer tried to impose her own standards on Egg like she used to.
"You guys get ready, I’m going to take a shower. We’ll go eat with Xu Ye in a bit." Shen Yibin took Hah’Er upstairs, helped him wash up, and dried his fur until it was spotless. Just like that, Hah’Er transformed from a simple, rustic working man back into an adorable pretty boy.
That little rascal Egg really loved the safety helmet. It even refused to take it off when they got in the car to go to dinner. Cheeky also seemed to have found a new toy. It fluttered over to Egg’s side and started pecking at the helmet with its beak, creating a distinct, rhythmic sound. Who knew if it was composing a new piece of music.
Because they had to go back and pull an all-nighter on post-production, Xu Ye didn’t push anyone to drink. With the exception of Hah’Er, who’d had a long day, everyone else was very restrained and only had a little.
After dinner, Xu Ye took his team back to the company to continue working overtime. Shen Yibin and Sylvie had to carry Hah’Er to the car together. ’Yep, he’d had too much to drink again.’
’Tsk, good thing I bought a Wuling Hongguang,’ Shen Yibin thought. ’A regular sedan could never fit so many people. Hah’Er, Egg, Sylvie, Sun Qian, Sakai Kaori, plus me... that’s six seats right there, and the van still feels spacious. What other car is this incredible?’
Exhausted from the day’s work, Shen Yibin went straight to bed as soon as he got back to the shop. He ended up sleeping in until noon the next day. By the time he got up, Sakai Kaori had already made lunch.
"Mm, Sakai’s cooking is really good." ’Well,’ he thought, ’at least I won’t have to worry about Egg eating well in the future, right?’
"I’m still a long way from your level," Sakai Kaori said modestly. She then casually patted Egg on the head. Having grown familiar with her over the past couple of days, Egg didn’t show any displeasure, merely adjusting the helmet she had knocked askew. Even now, the little guy refused to take it off, ignoring all of Cheeky’s venomous taunts and doing as it pleased.
The shop opened for business as usual that afternoon. Shen Yibin made a few calls to Qin Qing to discuss the contract signing ceremony, and before he knew it, it was dinnertime.
"It’s done. The first set of photos is up on Weibo. Do me a favor and share it." The call was from Xu Ye. According to his plan, the photos would be released in batches, one set per day. The set for today was the one featuring Hah’Er carrying bricks.
Shen Yibin opened Weibo, went to Xu Ye’s homepage, and immediately burst out laughing. On the screen was Hah’Er, dressed in his construction worker outfit and helmet, struggling to carry two bricks as he waddled forward. The caption next to the photo explained that the zoo was short on funds and its facilities were in disrepair, so, "This panda has no choice but to start laying bricks himself."
"Holy crap! Pandas are adorable! How could you have the heart to make one carry bricks? Is there no justice in this world? Is there no law?! Who’s the construction boss? Tell him to show his face! See if I don’t beat him to death!" one netizen commented furiously. The reply immediately garnered countless likes and shares.
