Chapter 125: Ready to Advance

It’s been two weeks since the battle over Havenhart.

Hundreds of thousands had lost their lives, with many more injured.

Few had passed the entire event unscathed, and they wouldn’t even consider themselves lucky.

That was because the destruction had left many homes and businesses as rubble in the streets of the city.

With the City Lord dead, Lord Le Fay had taken command over the city, setting up healing centers to first, preserve the lives of the citizens.

As the healers were busy saving lives, he also began the rebuilding effort. And as expected from a society of Awakeners, the buildings went up quickly, and before long, the city was almost cleared of rubble.

However, all the rebuilding effort exposed the population problem of the city. There were no longer quite as many people on the streets any longer.

Lukas sighed at that. He could have been one of the death statistics if not for Morgana and his wives. They’d saved his life.

He sat there, staring at his system interface.

[Gacha Harem System]

[Gacha Points: 600]

[Banners:]

[Wife (4000 Gacha Points)]

[Skills (1000 Gacha Points)]

[Items (1000 Gacha Points)]

[Mystery Box (2000 Gacha Points)]

He stared at the points he currently had. Ever since the tournament began, he’d received only one quest from the system, telling him to survive.

And now, it was quiet once again. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

One thing he’d made sure to do after he’d woken up and had received healing was to accept Morgana’s offer.

While he was grateful that she’d saved his life, he also knew a good deal when he saw one. Havenhart was currently in a state of decline. There was no reason for him to stay here any longer. Especially with what he was about to do.

There was a loud boom in the distance and he perked up, staring in that direction.

That had to be from the fights that had been happening lately.

While Morgana had left the city on the second day after the tournament ended like she’d said, a new City Lord had been brought in to bring stability.

Along with the new Lord was a group of Adepts, who were responsible for the occasional Adept ranked beasts that had been trying to get to the city lately.

They’d been doing a great job, as not a single beast had made it to the city.

There was a rustling up ahead of him, and Lukas exhaled.

He reached towards [Temptation], which had been stabbed into the ground at his side, grabbing it by the hilt and pulling it up. Then he stood from the boulder he’d been sitting on.

A moment later, an S-rank Shadow Panther burst from the undergrowth, growling. The moment the beast saw him, it leapt in the air towards him.

Lukas dashed towards the beast, ducking under its claws and slashing once.

[Temptation] seemed to sing as it cut through the air, then passed almost silently through the neck of the beast.

The panther slammed into the ground, kicking up the dust, while its separated head bounced a few times before coming to a stop.

[You have killed an S-rank Shadow Panther.]

Then the notification he was looking forward to.

Ding!

[Congratulations! You’re now ready to advance to the Second Floor!]

[Would you like to ascend now, or head through a spatial gate?]

By now, Lukas already knew what each choice meant.

If he chose to ascend now, he’d be transported to a random location on the second floor. And if he wanted to return to the First Floor, he’d have to find a spatial gate that would take him back.

Which means he might appear somewhere his wives may not be able to reach, and when he does find a spatial gate to return, it might lead to a city so far away from here, he might never find his wives again.

While the second option was better. It meant he’d have to journey to Salaria, and there, pass through a spatial gate into the Second Floor. He and his wives would be sent to the same location, and would also be able to return to the same location.

"I’ll take the spatial gate," he said.

The option disappeared, and he called up his status screen.

He smiled at what he was looking at. Finally, they could begin their journey to Salaria.

He glanced at the body of the Shadow Panther, before looking away, dismissing the carcass.

They’d killed so many S-rank beasts that at this point, they no longer held value to him. Of course, they’d sold what they could and gotten as much money to help in their new city.

He began walking through the forest, and thirty minutes later, he emerged in a large clearing.

In the middle of the clearing was a large cabin constructed from the same wood that stood in the forest.

The building was large enough to accommodate all three of them, and sitting on the benches in the front of the house was Akira and Melody. They were snacking on what looked like beast meat.

They looked up as he walked towards them, smiling at him.

"You did it?" Melody asked.

"Of course he did it." Akira grinned. "Can’t you see the satisfaction on his face?"

"Of course I can," Melody chuckled. "I just wanted to hear it from his mouth."

He took a seat opposite them, grabbing one of the skewers on the plate sitting on the table between them.

"We can finally leave this place," he said, taking a bite of meat.

Akira glanced this way and that. "You know, this place has kinda grown on me. I’ll miss it."

"I won’t." Melody said. "I can’t wait to sleep on an actual bed again."

Lukas didn’t bother to speak. Because he was the reason they were currently living out here.

After everything had settled down, the guilds had begun looking for him, each one eager to add him to their number.

He’d moved out here not just for the proximity to the beasts he needed to kill, but also for peace and quiet.

Thirty minutes later, they were done with their food, with an expectant silence in the air.

They exchanged glances, grins on their faces. Then Melody rose to her feet, hands on her waist.

"Let’s stop the dilly-dallying. It’s time to head to Salaria."
