Gacha Leveling
Chapter 161 - 22 – Home
It has been two years since Sarah’s brother Matthew had sacrificed himself to close the gate the Howling Spear guild opened to hell. He was now trapped in hell, turned into a demon to never come back until a merciful god took pity upon him and restored his soul to human form again.
Matthew’s predicament made those around him search far and wide for a way to help him. All of them launching themselves into the most perilous places and fighting like madmen to find a cure for him.
Faralynn was the worst of them. His girlfriend faced the most dangerous places head on with no care nor worry about herself.
Sarah herself was no different. Even though it was illegal, she sneaked into dungeons before she turned 18 to level up in hopes to help everyone to save Matthew.
Now at 18, she got a scholarship for Laufgraan Adventurer School the same way her brother did 2 years ago. After half a year inside the school Sarah reached level 13 already while her classmates were barely reaching level 7.
She was now alone in a dungeon called Dawn of Blades. A labyrinth-like dungeon that had many traps, but yielded a lot of XP for those brave enough to venture in it.
Sarah sat down on the floor to rest for a while after defeating a group of kobolds, small lizard-like creatures.
She took a mana potion from her bag and drank it. Then she took a sweet potato wrapped around aluminum foil and started to eat it while looking at her status screen.

She then grabbed her phone and looked at her calendar. It was Sunday. She had class the next day. Firynn was drilling the same two sword technique he taught Matthew into her. Apparently the siblings were quite similar in their fighting.
Sarah looked at her face through her phone camera. She had a bruise on her cheek where a kobold hit her with its tail. Professor Geovanna kept telling her to lift her guard while fighting, but apparently she still didn’t learn.
Sarah was wearing boots, a black cargo pants, a long sleeved blue shirt and Matthew’s pseudodragon’s leather protective vest, that he left behind in repair before he vanished into hell. Her hair was tied behind her back in a low ponytail. She had a big backpack on her back, two short swords on her waist, a gun and some throwing knives around her thighs.
She got up dusting her clothes as an unconscious gesture. There was no dust inside the dungeons, since it was made of mana. She put the aluminum foil in her bag and proceeded her exploration with care looking for traps and secret doors.
After turning a corner, her blood froze. She saw a woman with black hair and red skin. She had a small pair of wings sprouting out of the small of her back and small horns on her head.
Sarah knew instantly that it was a demon. She thought about engaging, but stopped herself. She decided to hide and keep watch, fighting demons was too much for her, even at her high level. She used her Hide Mana skill to mask herself in case she had some sort of detection skill.
From her hiding place she saw a man with her. He had long black hair and a beard. Blue eyes and matching clothes. Most likely it was the person who summoned the demon.
"Tylith." The man said to the demon woman. "We should find a way to hide your skin and wings. A demon walking around will cause trouble."
"Don’t worry, handsome. Here." She replied using a spell and changing her skin color to a tanned bronze and hiding her horns and wings.
"Didn’t know you could do that." The man said.
"I’m full of surprises." The demon woman said with a wink.
Sarah’s heart accelerated. He was bringing a demon out of the dungeon? Flashback from the day that hell broke loose passed her mind. She couldn’t allow them to leave. But she doubted she was strong enough to face them. Her only option was to hurry outside and warn the authorities.
She took out her phone and took a picture of both of them, making sure it didn’t make any noise.
Then she turned around, but, before she could run, one of her swords hit a wall making noise.
"Someone is here." The demon woman said.
Sarah knew she had no way of hiding anymore. She dashed at full speed, but soon enough was caught by a hand on her wrist.
She didn’t stop to look at who held her. In a single motion she drew her sword and slashed at her attacker imbuing the blade with mana.
The blade hit flesh, but it wasn’t enough to pierce the Vital Shield of her attacker.
She screamed and tried again, but it was useless.
"Sarah!" She heard a female voice calling her name. "Calm down!"
Upon hearing her name she looked up. She saw the red wings first, then the fire-like hair. Green eyes. Her clothes matched that of those two, but Sarah recognized her. She looked like Ffyr. But she was too big to be the fairy. Ffyr was as tall as a doll, not a full grown up woman.
"Who are you?" Sarah asked, confused.
"It’s me! Ffyr! Don’t you recognize me? Is it the clothes?" The fairy asked, letting her go and taking a spin to show off her leather garments.
Sarah blinked twice trying to make out what was happening in front of her. The sword was still fast in her hand. Was it a trick the demon was putting out?
"What’s the matter Sarah?" Ffyr scratched her head.
"Are you really Ffyr?" Sarah asked incredulously.
"Of course it’s me, silly! Who else would I be?" The fairy answered with a smile.
It was exactly something Ffyr would say.
Sarah’s eyes looked behind the fairy at the man and the demon behind Ffyr. Suddenly the man’s eyes seemed familiar.
"Is it really you, Ffyr?" Sarah asked again, this time with tears in her eyes.
"It’s me." Ffyr’s voice was soothing.
"Really?" Sarah asked again.
Ffyr hugged her.
"It’s me."
Sarah started to cry, hugging Ffyr back with all her strength.
The man approached her slowly. At first, she recoiled in fear. But then her hands went to his face and moved his hair and beard around.
"Is this you, Matt?" Her voice was wavering.
"Hey, sis." Matthew smiled at her.
"You look awful." She said, smiling and crying.
"You too." He answered while using his healing skill on her bruised cheek.
"Jerk." She hugged him strongly and wet his leather jacket with tears.
They all sat down once Sarah got calmer and Matthew told her a briefed version of what happened in hell and how he got back.
"Your grandma sent you this." Ffyr gave Sarah a bag with cookies.
"Grandma Ma?" She asked incredulously.
"Yeah. She’s in heaven looking after us." Matthew smiled.
"The angels didn’t want to open a gate to heaven for everyone to see on Earth, therefore they opened one in this dungeon close to you." Tylith explained.
"You went to heaven." Sarah said, holding the cookies in her hand. The bag irradiated holy mana. "Of course you did. So... You’re not a demon anymore? Faralynn said you’d need the help of a greater god to get back to normal."
"Well. It was not a greater god, but they were as powerful as one." Matthew said. "But it doesn’t matter now. What matters is that I’m human again." He hid the true nature of Belial from her. He didn’t want to worry her.
"And what about her?" Sarah pointed to Tylith. "We’re going to let a demon wander around?"
"She’s not bad. She’s super fun!" Ffyr defended the demoness.
"Tylith helped us get back. She’s a succubus, she’s not violent. Although her libido is out of control, she does not have the same violent urges that most demons do." Matthew explained.
"Don’t worry, cutie. I’ll behave." Tylith winked at Sarah.
"I’ll trust you because my brother trusts you. But don’t try to play games with me." Sarah said with animosity.
"I can’t believe you’re back. I’ll have to call everyone." Sarah smiled looking at her phone. "Faralynn is at Nuilynn with her father. She said she’d try to contact their goddess, the Lady in Darkness, for you. We’ll have to find a Somniomancer to call her." Matthew’s sister added.
They got up and started to walk out of the dungeon.
"So... Do you like these clothes?" Ffyr asked Sarah while they walked.
"They are... Very sexy." Sarah said, looking at them and frowning at how Tylith’s clothes exposed most of her body.
"I loved them!" Ffyr said flying and doing a flip in the air.
Sarah’s hand found Matthew’s at some point while they walked and squeezed him hard. It was hard to believe that he was back. She got scared that if she averted her eyes, he would disappear again.
"I’m home, sis. Don’t worry." Matthew said as if he could read her mind.
