Chapter 663 - 20: Black Sand Pirates
Weilian put on that black captain’s hat, and his entire demeanor changed abruptly, fitting in perfectly with the Horror Ghost Ship, standing there without seeming out of place.
Upon closer inspection, two ghostly fires were floating in his eyes.
He looked around and said with delight, "Is this what the real world looks like?"
Su Changxing waved his hand and said, "Let’s go, we should head back and pick them up first."
"Yes, sir." Weilian ran to the stern to take the helm.
Just as he placed his hand on the helm, he noticed shadows appearing one after another on the deck.
What is that?
He was startled, quickly retrieved his hand, and looked over the deck but found nothing there.
"An illusion?" Weilian awkwardly smiled, thinking his timid nature was acting up again, and grabbed the helm with both hands.
Ghostly green figures emerged on the deck, each with distinct forms, holding broken machetes, armored skeletons, people in long clothes with vacant expressions, and even a fluffy little dog.
"What are these things?"
Weilian examined closely, not feeling scared, and realized these were ghosts, spirits residing on this ship.
Then he saw Su Changxing walking toward him and asked, "What are those things?"
Su Changxing was also a bit worried Weilian might get scared, after all, he was considered an ordinary person in this world: "You don’t need to be afraid, they are the crew on this ship, they won’t harm you."
The Horror Ghost Ship already had some ghosts bound to it, not many, but each was immensely powerful, at least at Tier Six standard.
Weilian rubbed his slightly numb left cheek and smiled, "It’s okay, we’re setting off now, as long as there’s no danger, I think they’re quite cute."
Under Su Changxing’s control, the ragged sails fully opened, embroidered with an uneven skull, flanked by handguards.
The ship slowly turned direction, picking up speed, heading back the way they came.
It seemed as if the ship floated on the sea, leaving only a very slight ripple on the water’s surface.
Weilian shouted excitedly, "Sir, what powers this ship? Why does it run so fast?"
His focus was intense, on this seemingly outdated and dilapidated wooden sailboat, yet it sailed swiftly and nimbly.
This stumped Su Changxing too, as he wasn’t aware of what powered this warship.
Trying to explore the principles of this mysterious domain was incredibly complex.
"You’ll understand," Su Changxing responded evasively without a direct answer.
"I see." Weilian nodded, not bothered whether he understood or not.
The ship was so fast that they reached the previous reef island in just half an hour.
The crew still sat there, staring blankly at the sea, seemingly unchanged from before.
In the afternoon, the sky turned overcast, without the scorching sun, making them feel much more comfortable.
As the waves lapped softly, a ghostly green glow flickered, and a broken pirate ship suddenly appeared before them.
The crew on the reef island were taken aback.
"What is that?"
"It seems, it seems like a Ghost Ship."
The crew huddled to another corner, discussing nervously. Having spent much time on the waters, they had heard of such legends but never seen them.
Weilian leaned out from the ship’s bow and shouted, "What are you all waiting for? Get on the ship; we’re preparing to leave."
For a ship, the captain is undoubtedly the most authoritative figure, especially in a confined space like a ship on the sea, where a person without significant decision-making power would cause problems.
Seeing Weilian, the crew felt a bit reassured, not overthinking, climbing aboard via the ladder.
No matter what, it’s better than waiting to die here.
Among the crew, quite a few were older, having sailed on such wooden sailboats before the steam revolution.
"This ship is exactly like the legends of a Ghost Ship." An older crew member with Mediterranean hair and a thick beard whispered privately.
"Long ago, it seems someone saw such a ship, sailing in remote waters, appearing only at night or during storms."
"What’s more, those who saw it never survived!"
Another younger, blonde-haired, blue-eyed, freckled member said, "If those who saw it all died, where did such tales come from?"
The old crew member sighed, "Who knows, perhaps some lucky person survived. There’s always someone lucky. I used to think it was all made up, but after seeing it in reality, I realized I was narrow-minded."
The Horror Ghost Ship set sail once again; because the rope lowering the sails broke, a crew member climbed the mast to unfurl the sails.
Su Changxing released hundreds of Evil Spirits from the cabin, binding them to the Horror Ghost Ship. As more spirits were bound, their speed increased, heading toward Maelon.
The crew on board marveled at the speed of the Ghost Horror, being faster than a steamship.
This further convinced them they had boarded the legend-ed Ghost Ship.
Once they got familiar, they weren’t too scared; the ship was nothing much, an empty space.
Except for some things moving on their own, except sometimes hearing others speak, except for the ship sailing all too smoothly...
Kasmin stood on the deck, remaining calm, feeling after seeing the Horror Ghost Ship suddenly appear, anything else was only natural.
