Chapter 664 - 20: Black Sand Pirates (Part 2)
As the princess, she knew far more than others, aware of a mysterious figure living for thousands of years on a small island in a certain sea, and also aware that beyond this world, there seemed to be a large number of demons.
"With our current speed, how many days will it take us to reach Maelon?" she asked Weilian.
Weilian grinned, confidently saying, "At the current speed, four days, no, in just three days we can reach Maelon."
"That fast?" Kasmin showed a look of surprise. Even the fastest ship would take half a month from Wodan to reach Maelon.
Sailing on the sea, with no reference point, she couldn’t really feel their current speed, only thinking it was faster than the previous cargo ship, but not expecting it to be so much faster.
Weilian smiled without speaking, focusing on steering.
As night gradually set in, the half-full moon reflected on the sea surface, and even though their speed was fast, the wind on the ship was not strong, and it was surprisingly steady, like sailing on a calm lake, without any waves.
This was the sea, where on rolling waves, ships would often sway back and forth during the journey.
Su Changxing leaned on the watchtower, using his eyesight to observe the situation in the distance.
A large ship flying a black flag appeared in the distance, a pirate ship, but it looked like it had been converted from a warship.
"Three miles southeast, there is a pirate ship, full speed ahead!" Su Changxing shouted to Weilian.
He had a premonition that there must be players on that pirate ship.
Arriving in Maelon would make it harder to find players.
Heretics were hunted by everyone, and the sea was more of an uncontrolled area, making becoming pirates the best option for some less powerful players.
From that beggar player, he deduced that even high-level players might not be powerful, at least that beggar player was far from Hound.
Power was not the main criterion for evaluating high-level players; it should be based on tasks, where tasks were the standard.
As they approached, Weilian saw the ship and recognized it, cautioning, "That’s the Black Sand Pirates, the overlord of these waters, once famously confronting and defeating the navy sent to capture them."
"I’ve heard they have collusions with heretics and have mastered some magic, not to be trifled with."
Because their speed was so fast, they quickly passed by, though Weilian originally intended to avoid these waters.
Hearing Weilian’s words, Su Changxing was even more interested: "Colluding with heretics? Even better, listen to me, let’s charge straight in and take them down."
Even better?
Although Weilian felt a bit uneasy, since Su Changxing said so, he had to brace himself and agree: "No problem, we’ll definitely catch up to them."
Their ship quickly caught up to the slow-moving pirate ship. The pirates on board were surprised to see a strange ship suddenly appear not too far behind them.
"What is that? A pirate ship? Why does it feel like something from more than ten years ago?" A pirate at the stern asked, holding a monocular.
"When did it get here? How did we not see it before?" A person wearing a gray trench coat with half a silver mask embedded in his face questioned, "Did any of you see this ship before?"
The surrounding pirates shook their heads, also finding it strange and just noticing it suddenly.
Then, they saw the ragged wooden sailboat approaching at an eerie speed.
"So fast!"
"Counterattack! Turn the ship’s bow to bombard them with cannons," the silver-masked person shouted, with a cold smile at the corner of their mouth, "Bringing trouble to me is beyond foolish."
They were equipped with the latest rune cannons on the ship, which even the official navy did not have, with immense power; even the most solid warship couldn’t withstand several hits, let alone this ragged looking wooden sailboat in front of them.
These pirates were not ordinary pirates; compared to those Su Changxing encountered before, they were more like navy, with very high quality.
Upon receiving the order, the entire ship promptly adjusted its course, loaded ammunition, and aimed at the target ship.
In over ten seconds.
A continuous roar of cannon fire.
Dozens of cannonballs flew towards them.
Seeing the cannonballs flying at them, Su Changxing was more certain that there were players on board; otherwise, how could ordinary pirates have such well-crafted equipment?
These were not pirates; they were probably better than average navy.
At the same time the cannonballs were fired, the Horror Ghost Ship disappeared from the sea surface, leaving no trace, with tumultuous waters filling the space left behind.
"Where are they?"
The silver-masked pirate leader was shocked, unable to understand how the other side could disappear suddenly.
In such a high-level world, taking an entire ship along for teleportation was utterly fantastical.
The pirates on board were also in an uproar, looking like they had seen a ghost. They weren’t even afraid of encountering the navy, having faced them head-on before and even winning.
Soon after, water splashed on the sea surface, and a ragged wooden sailboat emerged from the mist, abruptly appearing before them, sailing directly towards their ship from the side.
It was just a wooden boat, and they had an iron ship, such an action was hitting an egg against a rock.
"Courting death!"
The silver-masked pirate leader cursed, but he was internally unsettled; everything the other side did was beyond his expectations.
He even had the thought of escaping.
But where could they escape in the vast sea without retreat routes, they could only tough it out.
With a tremendous crash, the entire ship shook.
The ship cracked down the middle, not the wooden ship, but their iron ship.
Many pirates fell onto the deck and into the water from the impact, but they were extremely tenacious, struggling back on board to face the threat with determination.
Although their ship was broken, they were now in close combat, and as long as they killed everyone on the opposing side, they could still win.
Soon, countless ghostly green figures appeared on the deck of the wooden sailboat, surging towards their boat.
Those were ghosts.
Clear-featured ghosts appeared before them and lunged towards them.
These pirates were well-equipped, every one of them shouldering long-barreled firearms, but facing the charging ghosts, some couldn’t even hold their guns steady.
The unknown was often most terrifying; they had never seen ghosts, never seen such a ghost ship, so fear welled up from their hearts, causing their legs to tremble.
"Those are just lingering souls of the dead, what’s there to fear!" The silver-masked pirate leader shouted, trying to boost morale, as a silver spear appeared in his hand and he threw it forward.
The spear pierced cleanly through an armored skeleton.
The skeleton turned into a ghostly green light and scattered, but the next moment it reappeared on the deck of the Ghost Ship, jumped down, and attacked again.
Seeing this scene, the white-masked pirate leader panicked completely, immediately turning to run towards the stern, seemingly preparing to jump into the sea.
It was then he saw a person dragging a spear appear before him, "Your weapon is still here, don’t forget."
Su Changxing twirled the silver spear, with a subtle smile on his face.
The spear struggled continuously in his hand.
The man wearing the silver mask showed a helpless smile, "Brother, we have no grudge, seeing as we’re both players, how about letting me go? Just say what you want."
He appeared very resolute, seemingly resigned to his fate.
Seeing how cooperative the other was, Su Changxing smiled contently, "Nothing much, I mainly came to ask a few questions."
Are you really here to ask questions?
This clearly looks like murder.
The masked man forced a smile, "Your way of asking questions might be a tad too direct."
Su Changxing showed a puzzled look, "Too direct? Isn’t clearing pirates a normal thing to do?"
"Enough, no more nonsense. Do you know about the Ninth Dimension?"
The man in the silver mask was obviously also a player, and upon hearing this question, he showed a sneering smile, "Of course, aren’t we all here looking for that thing?"
Su Changxing nodded and continued, "Have you found it? Or have you been there? And what’s the point of being a pirate here?"
The masked man showed a look of grief and indignation, "I don’t want to either, but there’s nowhere else to stay, and as for the Ninth Dimension, I’ve never seen it."
