Gorgeous Female Tenants
Chapter 507: Snatching Everything
Qiye knew she couldn’t escape Jenny’s investigation, so she had to admit, "That’s right, I was the one disguised as the pole dancer, I did it to steal something."
Seeing Qiye admit it, Jenny looked disdainful, raised her phone, and put it away: "Good thing you admitted it, disturbing Xu Xiangbei in the middle of the night to testify wouldn’t be ideal. He was attacked last night, got injured, and is probably exhausted. He should be sleeping now, maybe even having a nice dream."
Seeing Jenny put her phone away, Qiye finally felt relieved, and hearing Jenny speculate that Xu Xiangbei was already dreaming, she couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Jenny, you big idiot, Xu Xiangbei is actually hiding in my wardrobe right now, right in front of you, just separated by a wooden board.
Seeing Qiye laughing oddly, Jenny asked suspiciously, "What’s so funny? Laughing so brazenly, you didn’t seem angry when he took off your mask?"
Feeling like she’s toying with Jenny, Qiye suppressed her inner laughter: "It’s just a mask, why should I be angry? He’s quite a nice guy."
Jenny glared at Qiye like she was some zoo creature: "You brat, is there something wrong with you? Blushing, laughing wantonly, acting strange. You’re a very petty person, remember that time a rich kid just stole your spotlight, and you beat him until he kneeled and even stole the money he used to buy a car. And remember when that drunk tried to grope you, and you made sure he stayed in the hospital for a month. Xu Xiangbei took off your mask, and you’re actually praising him? Something’s definitely up."
Qiye feigned exhaustion and said, "Jenny, you’ve already exposed my disguise, and I’ve confessed, shouldn’t you be going home to sleep? It’s so late, and I’m really tired."
Jenny’s eyes brightened, and she exclaimed, "I get it, you must be in love with him, right?"
"I barely know him, sis, am I someone who falls in love easily?"
With penetrating eyes, Jenny seemed to see right through Qiye’s mind: "Of course, you’re not someone who falls for just any man, but when you do love, you go all in. Why don’t you dare look at me? You act like you want me gone, are you hiding a man in your room?"
Qiye gritted her teeth in frustration; Jenny was always so perceptive. Growing up with her always meant feeling pressured that she’d see right through any facade, making Qiye feel constantly uneasy.
Qiye acted nonchalantly: "Shameless, you’re the one hiding men in your house. My room is this small, there’s no man, just two women here."
Jenny smiled ambiguously, her slender white fingers lightly resting on Qiye’s shoulder: "Little girl, come on, tell me, did you fall for Xu Xiangbei? I have nothing with him; if you do like him, I’m willing to give him to you, I won’t mind. From childhood till now, if you liked any of my toys, didn’t I always give them to you? The same goes for a man, I don’t care."
Hearing Jenny mention letting toys go, and now even letting a man go, Qiye’s expression turned angry: "Okay, stop acting like a good sister. You always grabbed the best toys first, played with them until you were tired, and then pretended to generously give them to me; it makes me sick. I don’t need you to give them to me, I’m capable of taking them myself. What does letting me have them mean, feeling sorry for me? Doubting my ability? According to our Thief Alliance rules, if you like something, you have to find a way to take it. Have you forgotten our rules?"
Surprised by Qiye’s thoughts, Jenny said, "How can you think like that! You really misunderstood me. Taking things is our Thief Alliance’s rule; of course, I haven’t forgotten. Grandpa made me do it since we were small, but I never liked doing it this way. Although when we were young, Grandpa and Master Mouse forced us to steal toys, the ones I took—dolls, figurines—I thought you didn’t like them."
Jenny went on about her concessions, and Qiye grew even more vexed: "Enough, stop acting like a Saint, I hate it when you do that."
Jenny chuckled, "That’s really what I think."
Qiye stared coldly at Jenny, her tone mocking: "If you were an actress, you’d definitely win an award. All these years, I’ve wronged you. You’re actually a self-sacrificing good sister, not a bad girl competing with me for toys."
Unexpectedly, Qiye’s misunderstanding ran deep, and Jenny smiled bitterly: "I’ve found my answer already; I should head back. Rest assured, if you really like Xu Xiangbei, I won’t fight over him with you..."
Qiye cut off Jenny impatiently: "Alright, don’t talk so magnanimously; who knows if you say one thing and do another. You don’t need to give him to me. I’d like to compete with you. A good man is worth competing for; I don’t want your leftovers."
Hiding in the wardrobe, Xu Xiangbei smiled bitterly. How did he become something contested by these sisters, just like the toys and figurines they used to fight over as children?
Apparently, the Thief Alliance has a rule encouraging its descendants to fight over things, nurturing a competitive mentality. That’s why Qiye has always liked to compete with Jenny for toys, even men; anything belonging to her sister is seen as valuable, and anything her sister let go of is considered defective.
But Jenny hated doing it this way; she always conceded to Qiye, thinking she’d like the toys and consciously let her have them. Yet this act of kindness hadn’t made Qiye grateful but instead made her resent Jenny for it.
This constant concession from Jenny made Qiye feel devalued, like she had no ability to get anything good and needed her sister to let her have it.
This very belief has become the biggest obstacle in their sisterly relationship.
Not wanting to argue anymore, Jenny was just about to leave when Qiye’s voice turned icy: "Wait, don’t leave yet."
Jenny retorted sarcastically: "What, do you want me to stay here overnight?"
"I just want to tell you that Xu Xiangbei isn’t someone you gave to me. He’s someone I took for myself, just so we’re clear."
Jenny smiled indifferently: "Do as you please, think whatever you want."
Jenny’s nonchalant attitude drove Qiye even crazier. She marched to the wardrobe, yanked it open, and pulled out the cautious and shivering Xu Xiangbei.
"I’m telling you, Jenny, not only did I take him, he’s right here in my wardrobe."
Xu Xiangbei was dragged out of the wardrobe by Qiye and, upon seeing Jenny, shrank back nervously, greeting her, "Hello, Sherlock Holmes Jenny."
