Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill
Chapter 197: Suspicion
The onlookers wept with envy when Tyr casually gifted a Magic Staff to Delis.
And it wasn’t just a Magic Staff; Tyr gave Delis many other wonderful things as well.
Trigger-activated Defense Magic Items.
His own personally written Cultivation notes.
Tyr said, "For now, stay here and focus on your Cultivation. When I leave Maple City, I’ll take you back to Frozen Earth City and teach you in more detail."
Delis was instantly reluctant when she heard she would have to leave Maple City.
She asked hesitantly, "Do I really have to leave?"
Tyr said, "This is your father’s wish as well."
"Don’t worry. It’s not as if you can never return. Once your Cultivation bears fruit and you become an Official Mage, you can come back whenever you wish."
Delis felt much more at ease after hearing this.
Still, she had many questions.
’Why would her father be involved with Grand Mage Tyr?’
’From what she knew, her father, while capable, was still worlds apart from someone at the level of a Grand Mage.’
Tyr knew Delis had many questions, but he didn’t elaborate further.
He gave her a few brief pointers, then turned and left.
As Tyr left, he glanced at Leviedan, who was standing there dumbfounded.
Leviedan stared at Delis, his heart a swirling mess of envy, jealousy, and resentment.
He had worked so hard, practically becoming a bootlicker.
Yet he had received hardly any benefits from Tyr.
Yet Delis had effortlessly become Tyr’s disciple and received so many treasures.
Leviedan felt a deep sense of injustice.
He couldn’t help but feel dejected.
Without turning his head, Tyr said, "Leviedan, come out here a moment."
Leviedan jolted and replied instinctively, "Yes, Grand Mage Tyr."
He stopped looking at Delis and quickly trotted after Tyr.
Once they were a good distance away, Tyr asked, "Who exactly told you about the Soul Crystal?"
Leviedan’s heart pounded. He quickly said, "I stumbled upon it by chance in the library."
Tyr chuckled. "I searched for two years and found nothing about Soul Crystals, yet you’re telling me you found it in just a few days?"
"Is it really such a coincidence?"
Tyr shot Leviedan a sideways glance.
A tremor of fear shot through Leviedan, and he quickly bowed his head.
Tyr knew Leviedan couldn’t possibly be the mastermind.
’The man didn’t have the guts.’
’This Leviedan was a fool, used by someone else without even realizing it.’
But Tyr had no intention of letting the mastermind who was plotting against him off the hook.
Even though this person had delivered news of the Soul Crystal, Tyr would never forgive anyone who dared to plot against him.
’He was a Grand Mage. For someone to know his identity and still dare to scheme against him...’
’It was utterly disrespectful.’
Storm Mage wasn’t just his title.
It was also his temperament.
Tyr said flatly, "Think carefully. Who exactly told you?"
Seeing that he could no longer hide the truth, Leviedan said with resignation, "An Official Mage from the Mage Tower."
"I was talking to him about what you were looking for, and he showed me the book."
Tyr asked, "Who was it?"
Leviedan thought back carefully and said, "I don’t know his name, but he’s definitely an Official Mage in the Mage Tower. I’ve seen him around recently."
Tyr said, "I’ll give you one night. Bring him to me tomorrow."
Leviedan nodded hurriedly. "Yes, I’ll be sure to get it done."
With that, Tyr strode out of the Mage Tower.
Leviedan saw him out the main gate. Once Tyr was a good distance away, Leviedan let out a long sigh of relief and wiped the cold sweat from his brow.
’If I’d known this would happen, I never would have tried to suck up to him. Now look at me. I haven’t gained a thing, and instead, I’m in huge trouble.’
After this incident, Leviedan understood that the person who told him about the Soul Crystal was definitely up to no good.
Tyr was looking for him, and it was certainly not for anything good.
Leviedan stood at the entrance, sighing in distress. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Li Wei’s Illusory Body, transformed into a small bird, landed on a treetop near the entrance and watched as Leviedan turned and re-entered the Mage Tower.
CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP!
Another small bird saw Li Wei in the treetop and flew over to court him.
Li Wei’s mouth twitched, and he kicked the bird out of his way.
FLAP FLAP!
It flew away.
After seeing Tyr return to the Reinstein Clan’s estate, Li Wei controlled his Illusory Body and had it return to his room.
On the way, he was pestered again by that persistent bird.
Li Wei transformed into an eagle, instantly scaring the bird away.
"Mama, look! That bird can change shape!"
"Hurry, let’s go! This is a Master Mage’s territory, don’t get close."
"That bird might be a child that a Mage turned into a bird."
"I want to become a bird too!"
...
Li Wei glanced down at the quickly passing mother and daughter, then flew into the Mage Tower without a backward glance.
’Commoners seem to have some misconceptions about Mages.’
’However, for commoners, avoiding Mages was also a form of protection.’
If they were accidentally caught in a battle between Professionals, commoners could easily be killed or injured.
To say nothing of a battle between Mages.
Li Wei had heard the entire conversation between Tyr and Leviedan.
Li Wei understood that Tyr already suspected the Mage Tower.
’It was only a matter of time.’
Li Wei didn’t regret making his move early.
At least, for the time being, Tyr wouldn’t be able to focus on dealing with him.
Right now, Tyr was only thinking about how to obtain the Soul Crystal.
That night, Li Wei entered the Dream World early, waiting for Tyr to take the bait.
He waited all night, but Tyr never showed up.
Instead, it wasted a good deal of Li Wei’s energy and broke his concentration.
’The Cultivation of my Fire Snake Skill is about to reach the Small Success Level. I can continue developing the Fireball Skill now.’
[Fire Snake Skill (Tier Two Small Success)] 0/4000
After fusing the Cultivation insights from the Fire Snake Skill into the Fireball Skill, the latter’s controllability was further enhanced.
After a night of further development, the Fireball Skill began to show signs of transformation.
Li Wei began Casting, and a Fireball appeared in his palm.
Under the pull of his Spiritual Power, the Fireball transformed into a Fire Serpent.
The Fireball Skill had become the Fire Snake Skill.
Not only that, but the Charged Fireball Skill could also become a Charged Fire Snake Skill.
As Li Wei gathered Mana, the Fire Serpent grew larger and larger.
Finally, the Fire Serpent became a giant python more than ten meters long.
’Could this be considered the Fire Dragon Skill?’ Li Wei wondered as he watched the massive python writhing before him.
According to the book’s description of the Fire Dragon Skill, however, there was still a huge gap between the massive python before him and a true Fire Dragon Skill.
When cast, the Fire Dragon Skill could create a massive Fire Dragon Head to devour its enemies.
Its attack range was enormous, and its power was immense.
A mere ten-meter-long Fire Serpent would be swallowed in a single gulp by a true Fire Dragon.
WHOOSH!
The Fire Serpent flew out, landing on the ground a hundred meters away.
With a thunderous BOOM, the ground trembled unceasingly as a hundred-meter radius was engulfed in a sea of fire.
Li Wei shook his head. ’The power seems no weaker than a Tier Four Spell, but it’s too dispersed.’
’When dealing with a single, powerful enemy, the Fireball Skill is still more effective.’
’But for handling groups of enemies, the Charged Fire Snake Skill might have some surprisingly good results.’
The Fireball Skill was suited for single-target burst damage, while the Fire Snake Skill was suited for area-of-effect coverage.
Compared to the Fireball Skill, which unleashed all its power in a single burst, the Fire Snake Skill had a longer duration.
It was extremely effective against weaker enemies.
