Having Wives And Raising Children Levels Me Up
Chapter 24. Date (2).
"Try this part too." He offered it to Austin and his eyes widened at how delicious it truly tasted.
"Hmm. Nora, you have to try this." Austin urged as he held the skewer out toward her mouth for Nora to have a bite.
Nora instantly leaned forward to take a bite but Austin pulled it back just slightly at the last second, and Nora was left with nothing but air to bite.
This instantly shocked the cute wolfkin who had already closed her eyes in expectation of being fed.
Meanwhile, Austin grinned as he noticed the shocked look on her face.
However, Nora had narrowed her eyes at him now, and this made him grin even more before offering it again, and just like last time, Nora leaned forward once again, only for Austin to pull it back.
"Hubby." Nora muttered in a soft voice, but Austin could certainly feel the annoyance budding up in her tone.
But it didn’t stop him from laughing as he apologised before placing the skewer in her mouth properly this time.
Nora took a proper bite of the meat and her eyes widened in surprise, but before she could say anything, Austin planted his lips on hers.
Two ladies passing by giggled and two older ladies whispered as well.
The vendor in front of them was surprised but he simply grinned when Austin paid and left with his cute wolfkin, who was still shocked by how Austin had kissed her in public.
It was strange because, after the big reveal Austin had made to Rowena a few days ago, Nora had assumed there was nothing Austin could do anymore that could possibly surprise her.
But now, he had done something totally out of the blue yet again, and this left the beautiful wolfkin speechless for ten good minutes.
Time passed, and the two walked around town, visiting wherever was of interest to them.
It didn’t take them long before they noticed a couple of performers nearby.
They were a bunch of minstrels and jongleurs trying to entertain the crowds around them.
But upon getting closer, Austin and Nora noticed a male wolfkin in particular, playing a stringed instrument at the corner of a market square.
He was drawing a small crowd of other wolfkins who had gathered to listen and watch him.
From where they were, Austin and Nora could see that the male wolfkin was talented, his fingers moving with precise skill as he sang a pleasant song that the crowd around him seemed to enjoy.
Austin leaned toward Nora and muttered softly. "Wait here. I’ll be right back."
"Where are you.....?" Nora was about to ask, but before she could finish her question, Austin had already approached the male wolfkin performer.
She watched as her future husband walked directly up to the performer, then whispered a few words to the male wolfkin before reaching into his pocket to press a few copper coins into the man’s hand.
The male wolfkin looked surprised but swiftly nodded before stepping aside and handing Austin his instrument.
Then Austin turned to face the crowd before glancing over to Nora.
The crowd noticed his gaze before glancing back to him.
Then Austin strummed the instrument once to get the feel of it.
He had experience playing musical instruments in his previous life, so it didn’t take him too long to get used to this one as he began to sing softly, catching the audience by surprise as they listened to his song.
"Just before the crystal rain drops fall."
"There’s a beauty above all....."
Austin continued to sing and the lips of many female wolfkins nearby widened into smiles as they listened to his song.
A woman near the front of the crowd pressed her hands together with a smile on her face, while two young girls nearby whispered to each other, but Austin kept his eyes on Nora the entire time as he sang.
"Just the two of us."
"No one can stop us if they try, cause it’s just the two of us."
"Just the two of us." He continued to sing.
Meanwhile, Nora’s face was already completely red.
She even had both hands pressed against her cheeks as she felt an intense mix of embarrassment and overwhelming happiness.
She tried beckoning her boyfriend to stop singing before she died of embarrassment, but Austin didn’t stop.
He was going to increase his beautiful wife’s affection no matter what, and he was determined to do so as he continued to sing.
"If we really give it a try."
"We might even build a castle in the sky."
"Cause it’s just the two of us."
He sang on, and now the crowd had grown larger.
People passing by had stopped to see what was happening, and several of them had already figured out who the song was for.
Even a group of female wolfkins near Nora had begun whispering amongst themselves with wide smiles and stolen glances aimed in Nora’s direction.
"Are they dating?"
"Maybe she’s his wife?"
"Wow, I’ve never seen a human married to a wolfkin before."
"Yeah, but it’s nice seeing him sing for her."
"Yeah, it’s so romantic."
"I think I’m going to cry."
"She’s so lucky."
"Yeah. I wish my husband would do the same for me one day."
"Me too."
"Me three."
Nora heard everything they were saying and her cheeks grew even redder.
But there was nothing she could do aside from burying her face in her palms as she tried not to feel too overwhelmed by everything Austin was doing.
However, it was already too late.
Time passed and the two slowly left the crowd, because the sky had turned darker with droplets of rain drizzling down from above.
One moment the sky was a little cloudy, and before they knew it, the clouds had become thicker with rain falling heavily.
Within seconds it had become a downpour and everyone immediately went for cover.
Many ducked under stall awnings and doorways with their arms over their heads, with Austin and Nora doing the same.
But while they were doing this, Austin suddenly realised something.
