And what followed next wasn’t a fight, but a one-sided utter destruction.

Nora moved through the thieves, beating and slashing her sword against each and every one of them because of how genuinely annoyed she was by their presence.

She still couldn’t even believe the audacity these idiots had, to dare throw a knife through her window and at her beloved young master’s head when the two of them had been enjoying their time together.

Unforgivable.

She was definitely not going to forgive them for what they had done tonight.

And so, Nora tripled her attacks, causing the screams of the thieves to echo out across the rooftops.

Their screams rolled through the quiet streets below and it was impossible for nearby residents not to notice the sounds.

A few people were stirred awake by the noise but went back to bed almost instantly, whilst others tried peeking through their shutters to see what the noise was all about.

But the moment they took one look out of their windows, they instantly shut their shutters before pulling their blankets over their heads, frightened by the sheer force of murderous aura oozing in the air.

As for the thieves screaming in agonising pain?

All nearby residents shared one simple thought about the situation.

Those thieves were definitely idiots who had picked the wrong person to mess with, at definitely the worst possible time imaginable.

And with that taken care of, the night moved on to a separate part of town where a grand mansion could be seen.

From a distance, it seemed to be very bright and full of activity as nobles from different parts of the kingdom entered into said mansion.

If someone stood in front of the mansion right now, they would see how brightly the interior seemed to be glowing from the inside, and they would certainly see the carriages lining the path that led to the mansion’s entrance, with uniformed attendants standing at the door to direct guests inside.

Inside the main hall was a wide, high-ceilinged interior, with long tables on the floor covered in magenta-coloured cloth.

Across the walls of the great hall were candelabras scattered from ceiling to floor.

But aside from the majestic-looking hall, the noblemen and women were also dressed in their finest attire.

For example, the men wore simple-styled doublets with trousers and polished boots, whilst the ladies wore layered gowns with fitted bodices and long flowing skirts of different colours.

Their hair was pinned up with decorative combs and small jewels which reflected the glow of the room as the ladies walked through the hall, discussing with their friends and colleagues.

The men chatted and conversed as well.

Some spoke in low murmurs while others conversed and laughed loud enough for others to hear them from across the room, without caring who noticed them or not.

Among these men was Boateng Chan, who walked close enough to eavesdrop on the conversation his fellow colleagues were having.

"Hey, have you heard?"

"Heard what?"

"I heard that lazy son of the Rin Household walked up to the Chan Household last night to offer the head of the Chan Household his Rin family potion-making secret recipe."

"No way! He really did that?"

"Such a despicable human being. I heard he sold his family’s mansion this morning."

"Yeah, I heard that too. But then again, that house was looking really old. It may be a steal if he were to gain 50 coins from selling that dilapidated house."

"Oh stop that. The mansion might be old but it should definitely be worth more, right?"

"To be honest, I don’t really care, but did you guys hear the most absurd thing he did today?"

"What’s that?"

"Aside from wanting to offer the Chan Household his family secret recipe, the bloke had the balls to ask for the hand in marriage of the Chan Household’s beautiful daughter in exchange."

"What? You’re bluffing."

"I’m serious. It’s the honest truth. I heard it from Lord Boateng’s mouth himself."

"What? So you’re saying he asked to marry the talented, beautiful fairy goddess of this young generation?"

"Yep, you heard correctly."

"Oh my goodness. Is he smoking mushrooms for him to be so desperate to sell his own family secrets? And what makes him believe he could ever have a chance with that beautiful goddess?"

"Seems like he’s been hitting his head on a tree a bit too much recently."

Hearing this, the group of nobles suddenly burst into laughter.

Of course, Boateng wasn’t too far away, and his lips widened into a huge grin as he eavesdropped on their conversation.

From what he could see, his plan was working as he had intended it to.

He wanted to disgrace Austin and his household until the young man’s will to live was shattered into a million pieces.

This was the best and ultimate way to gain revenge upon someone as insignificant as the bastard son of that household.

Boateng chuckled softly as he hoped his son and nephew would use this to learn a thing or two from him, that killing their opponents or assassinating them isn’t the most satisfying way of vengeance.

It’s seeing them grovel on their feet, begging for their lives and seeking help from others when they’ve seen that they had no one else to help them in the world. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

This was Boateng’s ultimate goal.

To have Austin return crawling and grovelling back to him.

But then again, Boateng might be forgiving enough to have Austin give him his family potion recipe, in exchange for Austin working for his household as a worthless servant.

’Hmm, that’s actually not a really bad idea.’

’I don’t really need his family recipe or whatever the hell it is he wants to give me, but I’ll be happy to destroy him from the inside out, and I can’t wait to see the look on his face when I crush him down completely for humiliating me in my own home.’

Boateng chuckled softly as he tried his best not to recall the humiliating moment Austin had made him experience back at his mansion.

Anyway, not too far from where Boateng stood was a beautiful and curvy Countess.
