His Gifted Luna
Chapter 13 - Thirteen
Conner’s POV
I woke up, feeling the sheets beside me for my mate. I patted around before realizing she wasn’t there. I quickly sat up and scanned the room. No one was present. I listened in the bathroom for my mate. Not there. My heart beat faster. Where was she? I got up, out on some sweatpants and rushed downstairs. On my way I heard the sound of movement in the kitchen. I sighed in relief. She was still here. I didn’t know what I would do if she left.
I walked into the kitchen to the sight of Gemma with headphones in her ears swaying her hips to the song that was on as I listened I found it was Girls Like Us by Zoe Wees. I went behind Gemma circling my arms around her waist. She stiffened a bit before relaxing.
"Hey babe. What are you doing?" She handed me a note.
I woke up like at three a.m and I couldn’t sleep. So, I decided to check out the kitchen. I baked cookies. And a lot of them. Like a lot.
I read the note and looked around to see four plates full of chocolate chip cookies and a two trays in the oven. I laughed.
"Well I was going to the pack house today would you like to come? Maybe we could give all these to the pack members. " I said to her. She nodded uncertainty.
"What’s wrong?" I asked. She got a pen and paper and started writing.
What if they don’t like me?
I looked at the note, spin her to face me and cupped her cheeks.
"They will love you." I said. Then I leaned on and kissed her. The first time we kissed I let her take charge not this time. The kiss was heated and desperate. I asked for entrance and when granted I explored her mouth. We pulled apart breathing heavily. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"Come on get dressed and let’s go." I said grabbing a few cookies from the counter. We made our way upstairs, she took a shower first and I went after.
When I was done dressing into jeans and a red v neck t-shirt, I went downstairs to see Gemma packing some cookies to take with us. I decided to use my car to go to the pack house. It was a white Lamborghini. While we were driving, I noticed Gemma shifting in her seat every now and then. Her heartbeat was fast and her breathing uneven. She was nervous. She started tapping her foot and I put a hand in her thigh to stop her.
She looked over at me and I smiled. She gave me a weak smile back. "It’s going to be fine. I’m right here with you." I said. She nodded.
Twenty minutes later we pulled up at the pack house. I got out and so did Gemma. For someone who was very nervous she kept her cool. I walked and she was beside me. Everyone in the pack knew I found my mate who was mute and we were dating. It’s just no one has seen her before though. Everyone was looking at us as we made our way to the front doors.
We went to the living room where Ash and Jace where with their mates. Caroline, Jace’s mate was medium height, had an athletic build, straight long red hair, green eyes and the goddess blessed her with the power of fire. Eve, Ash’s mate, was short, wild curly brown hair, brown eyes, freckles and a positive attitude. She was blessed with the power of lightning.
"Hey guys." I said sitting on the couch. Gemma sat next to me placing the cookies on the coffee table. I saw everyone eyeing them. Eve ate more food than all of us here and she looked like she was in heaven sniffing the scent of the cookies.
"Hello Gemma." Caroline said angrily. I looked at her in confusion. Why was she being so rude?
"Yeah hi." Eve said. I think she too was trying to sound angry but distracted by the cookies. I looked over at Jace and Ash who were ignoring us watching tv.
"Look. We don’t need a luna. Mostly a mute freak. So why don’t you make like a magician and disappear." Caroline said. I growled ready to reach over and tear her throat out but Gemma put a hand on my chest stopping me. She got out a notebook and started writing.
I don’t care if you do not need a luna. I only care that Conner needs a mate. I’m mute, yes, so what? Doesn’t mean I’m not capable of kicking your skinny ass to hell.
She handed the note to Caroline. Caro read it and smiled.
"I’m sorry for the harsh words. I just wanted to make sure you were the right one for Conner. We have been friends for a long time and I would hate it if he got hurt." She said.
Gemma nodded. "Your lucky Gemma stopped me for ripping your throat out just for some stupid test." I muttered.
"Can I have a cookie now?" Eve asked looking between Gemma and the box. Gemma nodded.
Eve lunged for the box and started stuffing her face. She moaned. "Oh my goddess. These are the best cookies I’ve ever had." Gemma smiled. Everyone picked up and ate some. Soon the room was only filled with the sound of munching and moaning. The cookies were actually really amazing.
"You bitch!" We all turned at the shout to see Jenny, one of the members of my pack. She run at Gemma who had stood up, giving her a hug.
"I can’t believe you didn’t come to say goodbye. I went home to find some guys unloading boxes and I let my inner bitch free thinking they were thieves until one explained it to me." Jenny said and Gemma grimaced.
"You know, you can make it up to me by going on a shopping spree." She said wiggling her eyebrows. Gemma’s eyes widened.
"Yeah. That sounds awesome. Can I come with? " Caroline asked. Gemma turned to her with wide eyes. Horror written across her face. I chuckled. She looked at me and glared. I stopped. The look on her face was deadly. I sheepishly grinned. She rolled her eyes.
"If you feed me I’ll come." Eve said.
"I’ll feed you." Jenny said.
"Great. Let’s go." Eve said d walking out. Gemma looked at me with the most pleading expression she could master. I shook my head at her. No way I’m getting between that.
Gemma’s POV
I was pulled out of the pack house by Jenny. Shopping with her was like running a marathon thrice. Last time I went with her I escaped through the girls bathroom window. It was that bad. As we got out, there were people gathered at the front. Not a lot. Like twenty. In front was the same girl who kissed Conner when I first met him.
"Luna! You are challenged to see your battle skills. You against all of us. Whoever hits the ground loses." I paused. Was she serious right now? Conner appeared from nowhere and stood next to me. I guess he heard the commotion from inside.
"What is the meaning of this?" He asked.
"It’s a battle skills challenge. According to pack law, I can hold one whenever I want to see whether a luna is fit enough to lead. I can also pick the number of opponents. Twenty-five." She said gesturing to everyone behind her.
"No. Gemma will not fight. Go home everyone." Conner growled.
"You can’t do that. Only the luna can accept or decline the challenge. What will it be luna?" She asked.
"Brittney." Conner growled angrily. I looked at this, Brittney. She had a smug grin on her face. Poor wolf. She probably thought in was some weak bitch. I was far from it. I nodded at her. It’s so on. She grinned and we all made our way to the forest.
"Gemma you don’t have to do this." Conner said. He was trying to talk me out of it. He didn’t know me. I was not weak. Brittney would learn to respect her superiors. I sent Conner a glare. He sighed.
"Gemma. You can back out. It’s not too late. You don’t need to prove anything to that mofo." Jenny said and I smiled her. I would be perfectly fine.
We reached a clearing. I’m the other side was Brittney and her team. I stood on my side, removing my shoes. I preferred to be closer to nature.
"A luna battle challenge has been called by warrior Brittney to luna Gemma. According to the rules, winner gets to be luna." some guy said. I looked at him weird. Really? Luna? I inwardly scoffed. Everyone on Brittney’s side took a fighting stance. Ha!
’We are so gonna crush their heads.’ Winter said.
I turned around and saw the worried eyes of my mate, his friends and Jenny. I smiled at them. It was an evil smile.
They looked slightly alarmed. I took my own stance. One I had made and perfected myself. Everyone on the other looked at my smugly stance. Suckers. It begun. They all run at me. Some shifted. I stayed put. The first wolf to reach me was about my height. He lunged for my throat and I side stepped punching the side of is face with a lot of energy. He blacked out.
This is how I took down the first ten wolves. All blacked out. The others decided to come at me in human form. I smiled. I ducked, punched, kicked and shoved. It was like a dance. A dance of death. In this case, a dance of making people black out. I loved the burn in my muscles. I hadn’t done sparring with a living creature before. I hope I didn’t hit them too hard. I’m joking. I hope they have some real damage.
They were easier to break than the punching bags and dummies I used. I managed to take them all out, not breaking a sweat. Even Brittney was nursing a bloody nose. I looked around. Everyone was gaping at me. I smiled and waved. I walked over to the girls. Jenny was the first out of the trance.
"Damn girl. That was awesome. Now let’s go to the mall." The look she gave me was weirdly alarmed and evilly calculating. I just brushed it off. Jenny grabbed Eve’s hand and pulled her out of the woods her while I grabbed Caroline’s. We giggled as we run away from the still stunned werewolves.
I’m gonna get an earful from Conner when I get back.
