Horrific Shorts: Zombie Edition
Chapter 2403: Story 2404: The Giant Beneath the Earth
The horn sounded.
A single note.
Deep.
Ancient.
Powerful enough to shake the sky itself.
The moment it echoed across the industrial complex, every zombie dropped to one knee.
Thousands of corpses bowed simultaneously.
The sight was more terrifying than any attack.
They were worshipping.
The Throne King stood atop the largest silo, his purple cloak whipping violently in the storm.
Lightning flashed around him.
His glowing yellow eyes burned across the wasteland.
Watching.
Commanding.
Ruling.
Below him, the colossal skeletal hand continued pulling itself from the earth.
Stone exploded.
Metal supports twisted apart like paper.
The ground cracked wider.
A second hand emerged.
Then part of a skull.
Massive.
Ancient.
Covered in black stone and glowing purple symbols.
Lena stared in horror.
"That’s impossible."
Nobody disagreed.
The creature’s head alone was larger than an entire building.
Whatever was awakening beneath the silos was no ordinary monster.
It was something from another age.
Another world.
Aiden grabbed Noah’s shoulder.
"We have to move."
The boy’s eyes remained fixed on his mother.
She stood among hundreds of controlled survivors near the central silo.
Motionless.
Unaware.
Lost.
"We can’t leave her," Noah pleaded.
"We won’t," Aiden promised.
Marcus looked at the growing cracks spreading through the earth.
"Then we’d better hurry."
The group moved through abandoned machinery and rusted pipelines.
Carefully.
Quietly.
Every zombie remained focused on the giant emerging from below.
For now.
That distraction was their only advantage.
Zara led the way.
Using broken equipment for cover, they slowly approached the hypnotized survivors.
As they got closer, Father Gideon noticed something disturbing.
Purple marks covered their skin.
Strange symbols.
Ancient symbols.
The same glowing runes now visible on the giant skeleton.
"It’s connected," he whispered.
"The horn. The king. The giant."
Ethan frowned.
"What does it mean?"
Father Gideon’s face became grim.
"I think they’re all parts of the same power."
Suddenly Noah broke free.
"Noah!" Lena shouted.
Too late.
The boy sprinted toward his mother.
Across the open ground.
Straight into danger.
His mother didn’t react.
She simply stared toward the giant skeleton.
"Mom!"
No response.
No recognition.
No movement.
Only empty obedience.
Noah reached her and grabbed her arm.
The instant he touched her, her glowing eyes shifted.
Slowly.
Mechanically.
Toward him.
For one brief second, awareness returned.
A single tear rolled down her cheek.
"Run..." she whispered.
Then the horn sounded again.
The purple glow exploded brighter.
Every controlled survivor turned toward Noah.
Every zombie turned toward Noah. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Thousands of glowing eyes locked onto him at once.
The silence became unbearable.
Then came the scream.
A monstrous roar erupted from the giant skeleton as it finally pulled its upper body free from the earth.
The shockwave blasted across the complex.
Buildings shattered.
Windows exploded.
The ground trembled violently.
Above, the Throne King raised his staff toward the sky.
Purple lightning struck the giant directly.
Ancient runes ignited across its bones.
Its empty eye sockets filled with blazing violet fire.
The creature had awakened.
Completely.
Aiden reached Noah and dragged him backward.
"Move!"
The survivors ran.
Behind them, the army of the dead began marching once more.
Not toward the silos.
Toward them.
The Throne King pointed his staff.
A silent command.
A royal decree.
The hunt had begun.
And far beneath the industrial complex, deeper than any tunnel or grave, something else opened its eyes.
Something even the giant seemed to fear.
