Hypnosis: I Pretended To Be Hypnotized By My Childhood Friend
Chapter 17: Walking Side by Side
[Where You At?]
A chat bubble popped up on Liam’s phone screen, Miria didn’t use any emojis or tone. However, Liam could guess Miria’s expression right now, she must be pursing her lips, eyes locked on her phone, waiting for a reply.
[School library.] Liam typed back.
[When are you coming back?]
Liam glanced at the others, they had all tidied up their books. Liam then took a picture of the table with his closed notebook.
[Just finished. Coming back now.]
Liam decided to give her a photo as proof, it would be a problem if this girl misunderstood again.
[Okay.] She replied curtly.
Liam put his phone away, feeling inexplicably uneasy.
"Why, Liam? Did someone tell you to go home?" Darren said with a smirk, looking at Liam. "Could it be that your childhood friend is waiting at the door for your return?"
Megy smacked Darren on the head. "You’re always meddling!"
Silvia was already standing, carrying her bag, waiting for the others to finish packing all their books. Her eyes looked at Liam, softening. "I live near your apartment, it’s a bit on your way."
’Actually, it isn’t completely on the way, I need to take a detour at a small intersection.’ But Silvia decided to keep quiet.
"Oh... how’d you know I live in an apartment?" Liam asked, tilting his head with raised eyebrows.
Silvia froze instantly, a blush crept up her ears, and her hands flailed back and forth. "Ah! No! It’s not what you think! I-I didn’t mean to, I just saw you leave your apartment and walk to school, I usually see your silhouette from a distance!"
Liam gave a somewhat forced understanding smile. "Mhmm, I see..."
The four of them exited the school library.
"Sheesh... why is it so cold." Megy said, rubbing her arms.
"I’m not giving you my jacket." Darren said, glancing at Megy.
"Why would anyone want your jacket? Moron."
Liam sighed looking at the two of them who were always fighting, while Silvia could only giggle softly then told the four of them to start heading home.
The autumn night already felt very cold, and Liam wrapped himself tighter in his coat.
At the first intersection, Megy and Darren parted ways in another direction, leaving Liam and Silvia walking side by side on the quiet street with dim orange lights.
"Thank you for today." Liam broke the silence between them. "I will study your notebook carefully."
"Mhmm..." Silvia nodded, after a few steps, she added. "You’re actually quite smart. You just have the wrong methods and not enough time, it seems. The fact that you could progress so quickly in thermodynamics and math is quite amazing."
Silvia said with seriousness, giving an analysis that perfectly matched her number 1 student title.
’Actually, I want to say that you are special, you can find other ways, and your intuitive thinking is even on par with mine, unlike others who understand the material by memorizing.’ However, she couldn’t say that to him, she could only give her objective analysis.
When they were quite close to Liam’s dormitory, Silvia suddenly stopped.
"Liam."
"Yeah...?"
Silvia took a pen from her bag, it was a black gel pen with golden decorations.
It was Liam’s pen given by Miria.
"You dropped this." Silvia handed it to Liam.
Liam panicked a little, how could he not realize Miria’s gifted pen had fallen. Luckily it was found by Silvia, otherwise he is done for.
Liam took the pen, and their fingers brushed slightly, Silvia’s hands were very cold.
"Thanks."
"Also..." Silvia’s voice became small, seemingly softening. "You haven’t looked well lately, have you... been staying up too late recently?"
Liam was a little surprised.
’Am I being too intrusive?’
Silvia’s heart was now pounding fiercely. Seeing Liam’s tired face, accompanied by Liam’s dark circles, made her say that.
"Studying is important, but health is the first foundation for it."
She looked at the ground as she said that, her ears turning red, and she immediately turned around and said, "I’m leaving now, see you tomorrow!"
And she immediately ran away from Liam.
’Oh no, what were you talking about, you idiot! That way of speaking is like your old strict tutor! Does he think I’m a bit nagging and annoying?’
Liam froze on the spot. Who would have thought that Silvia, the number 1 student, could also be shy like that? It turns out she wasn’t just good at studying, she could also care about the people around her.
Liam’s admiration for Silvia seemed to be growing.
