Hypnosis: I Pretended To Be Hypnotized By My Childhood Friend
Chapter 16: Studying
At 7:30 PM, the school library bell rang in Liam’s ears.
Liam looked at the piles of math and physics materials in front of his itchy eyes.
Outside the window, it was already getting dark. Only their study group remained in the library.
"Sorry, I think I talked too much," Silvia said as she closed her notebook, her voice slightly apologetic.
Silvia took off her glasses and massaged the bridge of her nose with her fingertips. She always talked too much, and she had done so a lot today for some reason. She had even explained too much to Liam. She always did this when she got too deep into a problem.
’He won’t be bothered, right?’ Silvia thought to herself, stealing a glance at Liam as she put her glasses back on.
"Not at all, it’s just that I’m too slow to understand the material," Liam said quickly.
"Yeah, Silvia! He’s right, it’s not that you’re wrong, we’re just too stupid," said a short-haired girl with a side braid in a loud tone.
"but..." Silvia’s words stopped as her eyes glanced to someone beside Liam, a guy there sat with his head seemingly smoking.
"Darren, wake up!" Liam patted his back.
Seeing Darren like that, Megy just sighed and told Silvia to ignore him.
A small giggle escaped Silvia’s lips when she saw Megy pinching the ear of the malfunctioning Darren.
Silvia then put her glasses back on and looked at Liam.
"Honestly, you guys are not slow at all. You’re all making good progress in mechanics and discrete math. And you, Liam. You got 10 questions wrong on the last quiz. But now, you’ve only got 6 wrong."
Liam was a bit stunned, he didn’t even remember his last quiz.
’Of course I remember,’ Silvia thought to herself. ’I’ve written down all your types of mistakes on every paper at the back of my notebook.’
But of course, she wouldn’t say that.
As the school’s top student, she received the test papers for every subject before anyone else. Every time Silvia helped the teacher organize the test papers and grade them, she would always note down Liam’s score and his mistakes.
Liam, however, had no idea.
"And also... Darren, you need to study a lot more. Who would have thought you’d get more answers wrong than Liam," Silvia said politely.
Hearing this, Darren could only feel hurt and bury his head on the table again, exhausted.
Megy could only laugh.
"Megy, you didn’t get any answers wrong earlier," Silvia said.
"Of course, because I’m the GO—"
"But earlier Darren said you used AI," Silvia continued.
Megy’s expression immediately crumbled, sweat dripping down her body. And when she looked at Darren, he gave Megy a smirk that said "serves you right." Darren had dragged Megy down to hell with him.
Seeing this, Liam could only sigh inwardly. Then, Silvia looked at him again.
"And also... Liam, in one of the sections on thermodynamics," Silvia opened Liam’s book and pointed with her pen at various mistakes in Liam’s answers. "There’s a mistake in how you understand this concept. I used to be like this too when I was a freshman. I got better when I started making dedicated summaries of the topic and doing more practice problems."
She picked up a thick notebook, its sides and cover already looking worn out.
’Damn, she was already studying thermodynamics when she was a freshman? Meanwhile, what was I doing back then...’ Liam tried to recall, only to find that he had spent his time doodling.
"You can borrow this notebook." She said, pushing her notebook towards Liam.
Looking at the notebook more closely, Liam finally realized.
This was Silvia’s notebook that he had found before.
"There are many of my physics and math notes in there, as well as all the common mistakes and key points I’ve marked specially. Thermodynamics is in the section after fluid dynamics." Silvia explained seriously.
However, in her mind right now.
’Oops... why did I end up showing him this notebook...’
The moment she handed him her notebook, Silvia felt a slight sense of regret because there were many personal traces she had scribbled in it.
But she still gave it to Liam, right? She shouldn’t laugh at her for that, should she?
Liam took the notebook and flipped through its pages. He saw neat handwriting, organized tables, very efficient mind maps, and various other things that always belonged to an ambitious person’s notebook.
When he turned to the Thermodynamics page, he saw a doodle there. Upon closer inspection, Liam saw his own name crossed out.
Liam couldn’t help but ask. "This is..."
’H-he saw it!’
"That was when I felt very grateful to you." Silvia’s voice became a little smaller, a blush on her ears. "I wrote down your name so I wouldn’t forget... that’s all." She explained her reason.
Silvia then tidied her desk and put it into her backpack. "That... you have to return it to me, okay. It’s my hard work so far, so don’t lend it or give it to anyone else."
"Understood! I’ll take very good care of it, maybe I’ll even clean it every day. Every hour. Every minute." Liam said, teasing her.
"Just take good care of it!" Silvia replied quickly.
Right then, Liam’s phone rang.
He checked his phone, finding a name displayed on the screen.
[Miria]
