I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate
Chapter 420 - 299: Skill Source-Tracing, Butterfly Dreamscape
Mr. Ya’s "Flesh Statue" skill could give Su Ze a chance to resurrect.
The place where the Flesh Statue was built would serve as a resurrection point, so naturally, it had to be completely secure.
For now, Su Ze couldn’t think of a safer place than with the Mother Tree.
He had already discussed it with the Mother Tree and decided to build the statue inside the spaceship. After all, the ship was now part of the Mother Tree. Unless the Mother Tree perished, no one could hope to force their way in.
"Let’s do it now, then," Su Ze agreed.
"Alright." Mr. Ya nodded and began to prepare. This was the first time he had ever used this skill.
A moment later, Su Ze’s clone observed that the blackness on the Soul Nourishing Jade Stone in the room had faded, returning it to its original appearance. The ethereal form of the Thought Race Divine Spirit upon it was no longer struggling.
’Looks like it’s over.’
Su Ze pointed to his clone and said to Mr. Ya, "Let’s use this clone for the statue."
The "Flesh Statue" required the target’s flesh, hair, and other bodily tissues. Since the clone was a part separated directly from Su Ze, it was a perfect fit.
"No problem, Boss. Your clone perfectly meets the requirements for the Flesh Statue. It’s like it was made for my skill. This will save me a ton of work."
Mr. Ya selected a room, deciding to erect the statue there.
The clone cooperatively followed him into the room and stood before Mr. Ya.
Mr. Ya’s expression grew serious and solemn. A blood-red light began to shine from his hands as he gently ran them over the clone’s head.
In an instant, the clone’s previously rosy face lost all color. Its eyes went dull, and it became as lifeless as a statue.
Su Ze frowned, feeling a sharp, stabbing pain in his mind—the agony of his spirit being torn.
His clone contained a fragment of his soul. As Mr. Ya transformed it into the Flesh Statue, that fragment was severed from him, feeling as though a piece of his very soul had been torn away.
But this was the price of the skill. It was only because Su Ze had "Liquid Clone" and "Regeneration Body" that he wasn’t afraid to pay it.
For anyone else, even Mr. Ya himself, to use this skill to create a Flesh Statue would require them to sever a large amount of their own flesh and abandon a part of their soul. That’s why it had to be used in conjunction with various types of Healing Medicine.
Otherwise, they might collapse before the statue was even finished.
Mr. Ya’s hands moved steadily downward, the blood-red light in his palms passing over the clone’s entire body. Soon, he had transformed Su Ze’s clone into a motionless statue.
Mr. Ya’s face was deathly pale. The skill had taken a heavy toll on him. Wiping the cold sweat from his forehead, he collapsed onto the nearby bed, gasping for air.
Su Ze examined his statue. It was incredibly lifelike, with every detail perfectly rendered, indistinguishable from a real person. But its body was completely bloodless, deathly pale like a corpse, and it gave off a sinister, unnatural aura.
’Mr. Ya’s resurrection skill doesn’t seem very orthodox,’ he thought. ’It’s more like some dark art a villain from a novel would use.’
But Su Ze knew Mr. Ya would never harm him. As long as the skill worked, its creepy aesthetic didn’t matter.
Su Ze could feel a connection between himself and the statue... so the resurrection should be reliable.
The clone’s entire body had been petrified, but its clothes hadn’t. That was because they were just an illusion created by Su Ze; they didn’t actually exist.
A second or two later, the clothes on the statue dissolved into energy, revealing Su Ze’s perfect physique and well-defined muscles.
’Well, would you look at that. A nude statue!’
"Let’s go." Su Ze helped Mr. Ya up and they left the room. He then used his clearance to lock the door.
Exhausted from the effort, Mr. Ya collapsed onto a sofa to rest as soon as they left the room.
Su Ze also took a moment to recover. Losing a clone was a significant injury, even for him.
After about ten minutes, he stood up and picked up the Soul Nourishing Jade Stone. Probing it with his Spiritual Power, he asked, "How are you doing?"
King Mu replied weakly, "The effect was pretty good. It weakened his Consciousness Body even further. He won’t be waking up without at least half a year of rest."
Despite his words, Su Ze could sense that King Mu had also been badly injured. Even though Su Ze had helped by setting up a Spiritual Power barrier for him, he hadn’t been able to completely escape the toxic effects of the Spirit-Eroding Fruit.
Furthermore, his Consciousness Body was housed within a remnant soul. The Spirit-Eroding Fruit damages souls, so as the remnant soul took damage, King Mu’s Consciousness Body grew weaker along with it.
"It would be even better if you could help me gather some materials to nourish a Consciousness Body," King Mu said diplomatically.
Su Ze didn’t even bother to reply. He couldn’t care less whether King Mu was in good shape or not. As long as King Mu didn’t die and could still provide him with information, that was all that mattered.
’In fact, if King Mu recovered too well, unexpected problems might arise. It was better to keep him weak and easy to control.’
King Mu knew that approach wouldn’t sway Su Ze, so he dangled some bait. "If you can bring me the soul-nourishing medicines I need, then as a token of my gratitude, I can tell you how to more easily fuse skills to create a divine one."
King Mu knew Su Ze would be tempted. In a place like Blue Star, obtaining a seventh-rank extract was incredibly difficult. Therefore, creating a divine skill through fusion to achieve godhood was a much more reliable path.
Su Ze was indeed tempted, but the matter of godhood was still a long way off for him.
He readily agreed, promising he would look for the necessary medicines for King Mu, but in truth, he paid it no mind.
Su Ze had already gotten the answer to his most pressing question from King Mu. As for the information regarding the mysterious legacy, that was King Mu’s lifeline—he wouldn’t give it up easily.
