I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate
Chapter 421 - 299: Tracing the Skill’s Origin, Butterfly Dream (Part 2)
Su Ze didn’t have anything more to discuss with Mu Wang for the time being, so he put away the Soul Nourishing Jade Stone.
He walked out and saw Mr. Ya resting on the sofa, which suddenly reminded him of something.
Su Ze sat down next to Mr. Ya and asked, "Mr. Ya, I remember you saying you absorbed your ’Void’ skill from a vial of Tier 1 Dung Eater extract, right?"
"That’s right. Why the sudden interest, Boss?" Mr. Ya asked, confused.
Su Ze had his reasons for bringing it up.
Mr. Ya’s ’Void’ skill was suspected to have come from a Bloodline Crystal. They had always theorized that a Tier 1 Dung Eater had accidentally consumed a Bloodline Crystal, which was how Mr. Ya ended up absorbing the skill.
However, without exception, the Bloodline Crystals from the Divine Dice could only be absorbed by Saint-level experts.
The Bloodline Crystal Mr. Ya had absorbed, however, shared a key characteristic with the Golden Bloodline Crystal containing the Divine Grace of Evolution that Su Ze had: it had no evolutionary level requirement.
But Golden Bloodline Crystals didn’t come from the Divine Dice; they were related to the mysterious inheritance.
The Golden Bloodline Crystal Su Ze had absorbed was one Mu Wang had obtained from that same mysterious inheritance.
Therefore, Su Ze made a bold conjecture: the crystal Mr. Ya had absorbed was likely also a Golden Bloodline Crystal from the mysterious inheritance.
Su Ze shared his theory with Mr. Ya, then asked, "Back when you absorbed that vial of Tier 1 Dung Eater extract, did you receive any memory fragments?"
Absorbing a Bloodline Crystal was often accompanied by an inherited memory.
Mr. Ya frowned and thought hard. After a long moment, he exclaimed, "Boss, now that you mention it, I think I did have a dream that day! I always just thought it was a weird dream; I never connected it to an inherited memory."
It wasn’t his fault. At the time, he was just a teenager who had just been introduced to the study of evolution. He was only absorbing an ordinary Tier 1 extract; who would have ever expected an inherited memory?
"What did you dream about? Do you remember?" Su Ze pressed.
Mr. Ya sank into his memories. It had been a long time, but the dream felt like it had been branded into the depths of his mind. As long as he thought hard enough, it would all resurface.
"In the dream, I think I became... a butterfly!" Mr. Ya said, startled. He finally made the connection to the butterfly from the cosmos that had ushered in Blue Star’s Era of Evolution.
"A giant butterfly. I was soaring through the Cosmic Starry Sky. With every flap of my wings, the scene around me would shift, just like a dream. I had the power to imbue everything with a dreamlike quality, to make it all change along with my dreamscape..."
Mr. Ya murmured to himself, a dazed look in his eyes.
Su Ze quickly shook him out of it. "Anything else?"
Mr. Ya shook his head. "The memory was very brief, fleeting and fragmented. If you hadn’t brought it up, Boss, I probably would have gone on thinking it was just a dream."
Su Ze frowned, analyzing the situation. "Usually, the inherited memory in a Bloodline Crystal comes from the skill’s original owner. Does this mean that the Bloodline Crystal you absorbed, and your ’Void’ skill, both came from that giant butterfly?"
Mr. Ya was stunned by Su Ze’s analysis, seemingly never having imagined he could be connected to such a legendary creature.
’If my guess is correct, then Mr. Ya and I are truly connected by fate... Or maybe this was all destiny’s design? Were we fated to meet?’
’Mr. Ya’s ’Void’ skill seems to have come from the giant butterfly, while my ’Divine Grace of Evolution’ skill seems to have come from the man on its back.’
Speaking of the man on the butterfly’s back, Su Ze was about 80 or 90 percent certain that he was also a member of the Human Race.
This wasn’t just based on the inherited memory from the Golden Bloodline Crystal. The phantom that occasionally appeared behind Su Ze also showed that the man’s appearance was indistinguishable from a human’s.
This contradicted what Mu Wang had said about the Human Race not existing in the universe. At the very least, a powerful member of the Human Race had descended upon Blue Star a thousand years ago.
Su Ze didn’t think Mu Wang was lying to him. He suspected Mu Wang’s level simply wasn’t high enough to have access to certain information.
’But Mu Wang had also explored that mysterious inheritance. Did he really not realize it was left behind by a Human Race expert?’
’Or was he hiding something?’
Su Ze didn’t dwell on these thoughts for long.
From Mr. Ya’s inherited memory, it was clear that the ’Void’ skill was indeed connected to the mysterious inheritance. But why would such a precious Bloodline Crystal be swallowed by a mere Tier 1 Dung Eater?
One of Su Ze’s current primary goals was to collect the four puzzle pieces needed to open the inheritance, so tracing the origin of the ’Void’ skill was essential.
There might be an unexpected discovery.
"Mr. Ya, do you remember where you got that vial of Dung Eater extract?" Su Ze asked.
"I bought it from a Hunter with my scholarship money." It was the first vial of extract Mr. Ya had ever obtained, so he remembered it clearly. "My hometown is Vita City, a small border town in the southwestern corner of Luofan. It’s close to the Lianshui Rainforest, so a lot of Hunters pass through there."
"Do you still have that Hunter’s information?"
"I do. A Tier 1 extract isn’t worth much, but it was a huge sum for me back then, so I only dared to trade with someone I knew. That Hunter also came from the same slum I grew up in," said Mr. Ya.
Su Ze nodded. "Good. It looks like we’ll have to take a trip to your hometown when we have the time and ask that Hunter where exactly he hunted that Dung Eater."
