I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate
Chapter 425 - 300: Seeking Good Fortune and Avoiding Calamity (2)
"Now that we know the Alien Party’s goal, we can use it to our advantage. They want to cultivate more god-level Human Race powerhouses, right? So what if we all become Legendary Powerhouses, just one vial of a 7th-tier extract away from becoming gods? Wouldn’t they have to support us then?
"Take that recent ’New King’ among the exotic beasts, for example. Aren’t they just waiting for the New King Sponge to complete its seventh evolution before making a move? They want to harvest a vial of 7th-tier extract to cultivate a god-level Human Race powerhouse."
There was no denying that Chen Suifeng had a point.
Now that they understood the Nian Race’s goals and situation, they found they had little to fear.
’We can’t beat them anyway, and it’s not like the Nian Race is going to do anything to the Blue Star Human Race...’
On the contrary, they would do everything they could to support promising members of the Blue Star Human Race in their ascension to godhood.
Chen Suifeng wasn’t even worried about the New King Sponge, the exotic beast on the verge of godhood. The Nian Race would handle it.
All they had to do now was focus single-mindedly on growing stronger.
The key was not to rush into godhood, or to find a way to leave Blue Star before they did.
"Well, in that case, Mr. Fen, are you still going to keep going after the Alien Party?" Su Ze asked.
"Of course!" Chen Suifeng nodded. "For one thing, our conflict with the Alien Party has already come this far. If I suddenly backed down, it would just make them suspicious. For another, we can’t let them have all the power.
"It’s true they won’t destroy the Blue Star Human Race—they even hope we’ll develop further. But if we let them completely unify and consolidate the Six Nations, then everyone on the Lin Hua Continent, every talented evolver, will fall under their control and surveillance. We’ll be on the back foot at that point.
"Every prodigy, including you, will have their growth path controlled by them. Escaping their grasp will become even harder.
"Besides, the Human Race needs dissenting voices. Otherwise, if this continues generation after generation, the minds of our youth will be completely controlled by those aliens. That’s when the Human Race will be well and truly finished."
Su Ze thought for a moment and found himself agreeing with Chen Suifeng. The Lin Hua Continent needed dissenting voices, even at the cost of war and division.
"So, are you still going to continue your investigation into the crimes of the Evolution Divine Teachings?" he asked.
Chen Suifeng nodded. "I’m pursuing this not just to strike at the Alien Party, but also to save more refugees from the vile influence and persecution of the Evolution Divine Teachings. Plus, giving the Alien Party another headache and making them focus on us a little less is a nice bonus.
"I plan to set out in a bit."
Su Ze turned to Mr. Ya. "Mr. Ya, do a reading for Mr. Fen!"
Mr. Ya knew exactly what he meant. He walked over and took Chen Suifeng’s hand.
Chen Suifeng was taken aback. ’What’s going on?’
The next moment, a thick, blood-red light, as dark as ink, appeared between his eyebrows!
A bloody calamity!
"What’s this supposed to mean?" Chen Suifeng asked curiously.
Su Ze didn’t answer. Instead, he had Mr. Ya perform a reading on him as well. The result was normal—no sign of danger.
This meant the danger most likely wasn’t coming from Miracle Oasis. Since Su Ze and Mr. Ya were fine, and only Chen Suifeng was in danger, it had to be related to his upcoming trip to find evidence of the Evolution Divine Teachings’ crimes.
Anyone who could threaten Chen Suifeng would have to be, at minimum, a Venerable Powerhouse of his own rank, or possibly even a Legendary Powerhouse.
After Mr. Ya evolved to the Saint-tier, his fortune-telling ability had grown stronger. But when it involved Venerable or even Legendary Powerhouses, the effective range wasn’t very long; it only predicted risks that would occur in the very near future.
"For it to be this red... does that mean there’s no hope?" Su Ze asked Mr. Ya, his expression grave.
"More or less. It basically means certain death, unless he avoids the upcoming danger," Mr. Ya said with a nod.
"What the hell is going on? Why have the two of you already sentenced me to death!" Chen Suifeng grumbled.
Su Ze thought for a moment, then explained the details of Mr. Ya’s ability.
"An ability like that really exists? I’m not a superstitious man!" Though he said he didn’t believe it, a grave look appeared in Chen Suifeng’s eyes.
Su Ze explained, "There are two possibilities in your case. The first is that your upcoming mission is extremely dangerous, and you’ll almost certainly die if you go. The second is that you’re like I was before—in a state of constant, unknown danger. But it’s actually very simple to figure out which one it is..."
"Tell me."
"Promise me you won’t go."
"But..." Chen Suifeng hesitated.
"Then take a day off. We’ll have Mr. Ya do another reading for you tomorrow, and you can decide whether or not to go then."
"Alright." This time, Chen Suifeng readily agreed. His original plan had included a day or two to recuperate from his injuries anyway.
Seeing Chen Suifeng agree, Su Ze immediately shot Mr. Ya a meaningful look.
Mr. Ya took the hint, stepped forward, and did another reading for Chen Suifeng.
This time, no red light appeared between his brows!
"Just as I thought. The danger comes from this mission. Mr. Fen, call it off. There’s no need for a pointless sacrifice," Su Ze urged.
For powerhouses at the Venerable level or higher, Mr. Ya’s "danger warning" had a very short range—less than a day. Chen Suifeng had originally planned to leave immediately.
According to Chen Suifeng’s original plan, he would have faced a life-or-death crisis within a day.
But now that Su Ze had persuaded him to change his departure to the next day, Mr. Ya’s ability could no longer detect the danger that awaited him.
This also presented two possibilities. One was that by changing his departure time, Chen Suifeng had completely sidestepped the danger, meaning he would be safe even if he left tomorrow.
