I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate
Chapter 426 - 300: Seeking Fortune and Avoiding Calamity (3)
The second was that tomorrow’s events were beyond the time limit of Mr. Ya’s precognition.
Which of the two it was could only be confirmed after Mr. Ya performed another divination for Chen Suifeng before his departure tomorrow.
However, Su Ze had already decided not to let Chen Suifeng go.
Chen Suifeng wasn’t a reckless man. After some thought, he nodded.
By preserving his life, he could still accomplish much more. There was no need to rush to his death.
"But..." He frowned, feeling unwilling to give up. "Am I supposed to just ignore those refugees? Let them be poisoned by the Evolution Divine Teachings?"
Su Ze asked, "You’ve been tracking the people from the Evolution Divine Teachings. Where did they transport the refugees?"
"To the Lianshui Rainforest, in the southwestern part of Luofan Country," Chen Suifeng replied.
Su Ze and Mr. Ya exchanged a look.
Mr. Ya said in surprise, "What a coincidence. We were just planning on making a trip there soon."
Su Ze quickly added, "That’s right, we have some business to take care of over there. Why don’t you leave this matter to us?"
In truth, he had no intention of wading into these muddy waters. He was just saying it to put Chen Suifeng’s mind at ease.
If even a Venerable Powerhouse like Chen Suifeng would face mortal danger investigating this, he wasn’t about to overestimate his own abilities and walk into peril.
Besides, he wasn’t particularly concerned about the plight of the Peninsula Country’s people. He wasn’t Chen Suifeng; he didn’t share his grand perspective or great compassion.
If he really did get involved, it would only be to get revenge on the Pope and the Evolution Divine Teachings.
Chen Suifeng shook his head. "It’s too dangerous. You two shouldn’t get involved."
"Don’t worry. Before we make any move, we always have Mr. Ya perform a divination. If there’s even a hint of danger, we cancel the operation."
Hearing Su Ze say this, Chen Suifeng finally relaxed a little.
...
Chen Suifeng had decided to give up on investigating the evidence of the Evolution Divine Teachings’ crimes and return home directly.
However, just to be safe, Su Ze had him rest for a night in Miracle Oasis. The next day, he had Mr. Ya perform another divination for him.
This time, the divination showed no ominous red light, proving there was no danger. Chen Suifeng immediately took his leave and set off for Lin Hua Country.
He was also in a hurry to relay the information Su Ze had gotten from King Mu to Mr. Ke and the other high-ranking members of the Blue Star Party.
After seeing Chen Suifeng off, Su Ze and Mr. Ya also planned to set out soon to trace the origin of Mr. Ya’s "Void" skill back in his hometown.
The time was now late November, and Su Ze suddenly realized that a few days ago had marked the one-year anniversary of his transmigration.
He had missed his own "first birthday" in this world.
In just one short year, he had evolved from a mere Mortal-level Life Form all the way to a Saint-level Overlord, and was now just one step away from the Venerable level.
Such a rate of evolution was completely unprecedented in the thousand-year history of Blue Star’s Era of Evolution.
Su Ze estimated the absorption progress of the Evolutionary Material in his body. Even if he stayed in the spaceship and focused completely on absorption, he would still need at least three more months to fully process the Bloodline Crystal inside him.
Therefore, he decided to first head to Mr. Ya’s hometown, Vita City, to find the Hunter who had sold Mr. Ya the Coprophage extract all those years ago.
Vita City was just a small border town with no Saint Emissary stationed there, so Su Ze and Mr. Ya’s strength was more than sufficient.
Additionally, Su Ze was carrying a large amount of the Sands of Time with him. If he ran into real trouble, he could rapidly absorb the Bloodline Crystal in his body and make a direct push for the Venerable-level!
The two disguised themselves, made their preparations, and then left Miracle Oasis for Luofan Country.
Before they left, Mr. Ya made a point of performing a divination for Su Ze to confirm that there was no immediate danger.
However, one couldn’t blindly trust such things. They still had to be careful and cautious; just because the divination showed no danger didn’t mean they could go looking for trouble.
...
Miracle Oasis bordered Luofan Country, so Mr. Ya led Su Ze through an underground route, and they easily slipped into the nation.
They flew southwest without any incidents along the way.
That same morning, the two arrived in Vita City.
The small city was visibly dilapidated and impoverished, the worst city in Luofan Country that Su Ze had ever seen.
Even so, that didn’t diminish the huge gap between the rich and the poor. One-third of the city was a slum, one-third was a wealthy district, and the final third was a commercial district.
And yet, the slum, which took up only a third of the area, was home to over eighty percent of the city’s population.
Returning to his hometown after so many years, Mr. Ya was filled with a certain apprehension. He wasn’t as calm as he appeared on the surface; his hands trembled slightly, whether from excitement or nervousness, it was hard to say.
"Where do we go to find that Hunter from back then?" Su Ze asked.
"I know where his parents live. Let’s go check there first," Mr. Ya said, though his tone was uncertain. So many years had passed; he had no idea if they had moved.
Su Ze followed Mr. Ya into the slums of Vita City.
The stench of sour, rotting food mixed with the smell of excrement assaulted their noses. As they walked down the narrow paths, everything they saw could be summed up in three words: dirty, chaotic, and shabby.
Mr. Ya occasionally pointed things out to Su Ze: the barber stall he used to frequent as a child, the convenience store he often visited, the house of a female classmate he had a crush on back in the day...
Because they were both in disguise, Mr. Ya wasn’t recognized.
However, both their attire and their bearing were completely out of place in the slum, and they constantly drew attention as they walked.
The two walked until they reached a house that looked relatively nice. Compared to the other houses, it appeared less dirty and old, as if it had been renovated. It even had a small yard and an imposing iron gate.
