His brows furrowed deeply as he changed direction and walked straight toward him.

Mikhail remained calm on the surface, though he felt a slight tension rise in his chest.

’The fuck did I do now?’ He held back a tired sigh. ’Did they get to know about my crimes before it even happened?’

"You..." Corvin stopped a few steps away, studying Mikhail with narrowed eyes. "Mikhail Brightburn, correct?"

Mikhail gave a small, respectful nod. "Yes, sir."

Corvin’s young partner stood silently behind him, observing the exchange.

The older enforcer crossed his arms, his wrinkled face stern. "I remember you from Jonathan’s case."

Jonathan was the informant who had died in the same shop where Mikhail had been waiting for Kevin.

Enforcer Corvin had gotten Mikhail’s information from that case.

"Has the case been solved?" Mikhail asked with a respectful smile. "I still get nightmares from what I saw that day."

Corvin shook his head with a sigh. "Unfortunately, we are still trying to find what happened to him. Due to some outside interference we aren’t able to pinpoint the culprit."

Mikhail frowned when he heard that.

He knew the church should have had the means to find the culprit with different Artifacts and divination skills.

’Someone is messing with fate?’

If even the church was being blocked, then the forces behind Jonathan’s death were far more powerful than he had initially thought.

Corvin studied Mikhail’s face carefully before continuing.

"We’ve hit several dead ends. It’s almost as if the killer knew exactly how we investigate."

The enforcer’s voice grew heavier. "That kind of precision is rare..."

Mikhail nodded slowly, maintaining his worried look. "I hope you catch whoever did it, sir."

Corvin grunted, seemingly satisfied with Mikhail’s response.

"Are you already a Hunter?" He asked gently.

Mikhail nodded his head. "Yes, sir."

Corvin nodded his head and said with a smile. "Good luck with your new life."

He didn’t say anything else as the man walked away with his partner.

Mikhail stared at their departing figures before retracting his gaze.

His mind began to race with different possibilities in an instant.

’How are they tricking the church?’

The church of the Faceless Moon had a deep history.

He recalled the old stories his mother used to tell him.

During the early days of the Great Cataclysm, when the world first fell into chaos, the moon had become a source of madness.

At that time, many claimed that the moon had turned sentient with a face bearing a grinning smile.

On nights when the full moon shone brightest, countless people lost their minds, turning violent or simply vanishing.

Many believed an ancient, hostile entity had claimed the moon itself.

The moon kept on killing people until ’She’ became the goddess and sealed it.

That was where she got her name — the Faceless Moon.

Mikhail, who was thinking about it, couldn’t help but feel grim.

’If such an organisation can fool even them....’

He didn’t dare think more about the one who had killed Jonathan.

’Huff....’

Mikhail let out a deep breath and threw the thoughts to the back of his mind.

He still had a really important meeting to attend and his summons to deal with.

---

Once Mikhail reached his room, he closed the door and sat on his chair.

Looking through his drawer, Mikhail found a book whose cover looked like it was made of human skin.

In the last week, Mikhail had been actively learning the Frenedic language.

Mikhail had to admit that the language was rather peculiar.

The more he read it, the more he noticed something odd.

’The language feels like it was made by mixing many languages.’

Mikhail wasn’t an expert in this field but he was still knowledgeable.

’It’s like they mixed Chinese, English, Japanese and a language from an old era.’

This made Mikhail speechless because such a language was rather hard to understand.

’But why was such a language even made?’

Mikhail was more or less sure this world was somewhat similar to Earth. Perhaps they had also had similar languages before the apocalypse.

The Frenedic Empire had been formed from the mutual collaboration of four different races.

All those races had their own language and history, so why would they have adopted a new language made by mixing old world languages.

’No way.....’

Mikhail had his doubts but he didn’t let his mind wander.

When there were only five minutes left until one o’clock, Mikhail decided to enter the Akashic Space.

---

The endless space with galaxies and stars began forming in front of Mikhail’s eyes.

A table and chairs floated in the endless space silently.

Mikhail walked over and sat down on his chair, making his face blurry.

He leaned back on the ancient looking chair and sighed.

’Man, I hope I don’t look like the Fool.’

He chuckled at his own joke and began to fix his state of mind.

After five minutes, Mikhail decided to bring his summons into the Akashic Space.

---

In the capital of the Kingdom of Doriath, Veronica Continent.

Within the castle of the royal elves, a young lady with long green hair sat on her bed with papers in her hand.

The lady was reading the contents again and again in order not to forget them.

Amaira Doriath had requested information from her mother about the Frenedic Empire.

She had found a few things but they were written in the Frenedic language.

In order not to disappoint a deity, she decided to memorise how to write it down.

’I can write down the original words and he can think of a way to read them.’

She smiled brightly at her own cleverness and gave herself a pat on the back.

At exactly one o’clock, a black light descended from the sky and engulfed her.

---

In the Empire of Crimson, Moonshade Continent, inside an open rift.

208, who was part of the combat slaves that collected monsters, had found a secluded place.

He had given an excuse of body pain to get some rest, and even though he got beaten for it, 208 thought it was worth it.

’It’s just a small price I needed to pay to see a god.’

He consoled himself as he slowly leaned back on a rock.

At that moment, a black light descended from the heavens and engulfed him.

208 lost consciousness in the next instant.
