Chapter 137: Have they killed it

Although the lizardmen have numbers, they still can’t touch the team; they cut through their numbers as if they were nothing but weeds.

Catena also made a lot of difference because he just smashed anything in his path. His two balls of earth are tall, and a single one reached his knee, so one swing and bones snapped like twigs, and skulls crumbled.

The only problem with this mode of fighting is that he’s using two powerful techniques together, so his essence will drain faster, but the advantage is that he’s able to kill a large number of enemies faster.

Before long, he was already breathing hard as he could only send little essence into the earth, and his connection to controlling and holding the ball of earth together got weaker, too.

"Enough, Catena." Azaroth covered his hand with a bit of flame, touched his neck, and watched with satisfaction as Catena flinched. "Don’t even disobey me like that again or I’ll break one of your fingers. Are you trying to get me killed?"

The Lizardmen are cowering back when they see the brutal way their kind was killed. It gave Azaroth time to deal with Catena.

"But...I killed them." Catena said as he blinked in surprise.

Azaroth turned the full weight of his eyes on him until he looked away. "Yes, you killed them. But what will happen now that you’ve exhausted your strength? You’ve now reduced the team’s power. What if a special or unique monster appears? Don’t try to get me killed next time. I consider it a threat."

Azaroth doesn’t like speaking unless he has to, and right now, he doesn’t like Catencuttingut the team’s power because of his recklessness. What if he needs a meat shield later? "Now rest and take care of any monster that manages to get past us. You did well in clearing the way."

Stallus’s hand tightened on her sword as she watched the interaction. Even Alex was silent, but there was one thing Stallus was thinking about. ’Why don’t Azaroth say Catena was endangering the team? Did he only truly care about himself?’

That troubled her as if she and others were nothing more than a tool for him.

"Alex! Stallus, we’ll do a combination of long and close attacks. Let’s go." They sped towards the monsters covering the distance between them, Alex sent lightning arrows into their midst just before they collided.

The monsters fought with long clawed hands and sharp teeth that snapped in the air with hard clicking sounds. Stalls covered his feet with essence, so each step she took made her appear graceful, like a dragonfly darting around with a sharp sword.

She targeted weak spots like hearts and brains through the eyes; green blood splattered her with each swing of her weapon, not bothering to even use her skill.

Meanwhile, Alex was using both skill and sword; since he had the strongest sword slash in the group, he gave them space, so he knew he was fighting only monsters. Each swing was enough to cut a monster into two.

His sword is shone of anything like technique or so, he’ll just plant his feet solidly and swing. With minimal movement, he let his opponent come his way instead. Monsters fell before and his wide arcs caused blood to soak him.

And any monster that manages to get past his guard gets a face full of lightning.

Azaroth, on the other hand, decided he wanted to play with the monsters. The first few that came his way were a dispatcher with quick efficiency. Then he brought out the enchanted tool, the Vigil valvet.

He wants to know how to use it in a fight, and immediately, he puts it on. He knew just where to send his essence, and he did. Pumping the enchanted tool with power it flowed around him like mass of darkness.

It took essence but not as much as Azaroth expected.

A lizardman took a swipe at him, and he imagined himself moving left, and he was suddenly a foot to the left! The monster looked just as surprised before its head was taken.

"I’ve decided then," Azaroth said. "I’m going to hunt for heads today."

And so he began; with the enchanted tool and his sharp eyes, it was easy to see attacks coming and avoid them. He moved among the lizardmen like a flowing darkness with red eyes swinging a sword.

Heads fell like balls, and headless bodies hit with a thud.

Catena watched them from a distance, and he marveled; he knew if he hadn’tused up his essence,, he’dbe among them,, smashing monsters like a a force of nature. He came to the realization now that he was watching the fight from the outside– we have become stronger!

’Just five months in this place, and already we are this strong, taking on a crypt with just the four of us,’ he thought. And then the gold in his eyes sparked. ’Just how strong can we become?’

Finally, they finished off the grunt, remaining the boss who sat and watched the whole thing from afar. Boss are always the peak rank of the crypt’s original rank.

So this one is just in the same rank as Azaroth and the others but that means little because boss monsters are different. They are always powerful, almost breaking the power of each rank.

The Lizardmen boss is two times bigger with black scales instead of green, the monster hissed and raised a wooden hammer. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Azaroth looked at it flatly. "Well then, let’s finish what we started."

Stallus threw her crystal and made a strong explosion that made it stagger. That was the chance for Azaroth and the others to drive in.

Azaroth ran downward and came up with a swing while Alex stood to cut it from the top. Stallus targeted the monster’s hand and an explosion crushed it and made it drop the weapon with a hiss of pain.

Catena held his breath. "Have they killed it?’
