Raiden pulled out the egg from the incubator slowly and set it down on a cushion on the table.

The Egg seemed to be pulsing faintly with an ethereal glow, highlighting the hot pink lines and spots on it.

"Are you ready, brother?" Sylvia asked with a nervous voice.

"I am. Give me the knife." Raiden said as he took the knife from his little sister’s hands, before hovering his palm over the egg and taking a deep breath, before slashing it directly in the middle of his palm.

KLANG-CRASH!!

The knife shattered upon impact, as its little pieces fell on the ground, leaving Raiden speechless.

Had he become so strong that even the normal weapons can’t harm him anymore?? Why didn’t he feel happy about it?

"Forget itt, let me do itt~" Ruby’s impatient voice sounded out, as Raiden’s hand erupted into a shower of blood.

Looking at his hand that seemed to be overflowing with blood from within, Raiden didn’t know what to say.

"Hurry up!!"

"Woolie!!"

Two voices urged Raiden from the side, snapping him back to attention.

"Alright, here goes nothing!!" Raiden slapped his hand on the egg while chanting the mantra, coating it red.

Almost instantly, the egg started glowing white with a thunderous white flash, blinding everyone in the room.

"SHHHAAAAAA~"

Raiden’s vision blurred as he found himself getting pulled into some kind of dreamscape.

The scenery in front of him changed into a massive fortress, the biggest Raiden had ever seen, that stretched endlessly over the horizon with its height over thirty kilometres, with hundreds of thousands of humans standing on top of it as they glared at the Terra Beast!!

And standing in front of the fortress was a lone small Terra Beast. It looked small compared to the whole fortress, but by the Raiden standards, it looked massive.

Standing in front of the massive fortress, it didn’t look intimidated at all; if anything, the sheer pressure it gave off felt like it was winning instead.

SHHAAAA~!!!!

With that cry, Raiden witnessed the most incredible sight that he would never forget in his life.

Circles after circles of light started appearing behind the beast, some with the smallest one the size of a house and the biggest one being tens of kilometres long.

One.

Ten.

Hundred.

Thousand.

Ten Thousand.

A Hundred Thousand!!

A MILLION!!

TEN MILLION!!!

TENS OF MILLIONS!!!!!

The whole sky was covered in light circles, runes of unknown language spread across them, as space itself started to distort around the beast.

The air stilled for a moment, as no one spoke.

SHHHAAAA!!

With that single cry, all hell broke loose, and weapons completely made up of light started exiting from the gate and moved with an impossible speed, impacting the fortress directly.

CRACK-BANG-BOOM!!!

Raiden stood with an open mouth and dry throat as he looked at the scene of apocalypse with vacant eyes.

He had never ever seen or imagined something like this.

He saw how those huge swords made up of light descended upon the fortress, and killed hundreds of thousands of people in a second, not even leaving a body behind in the process.

Suddenly, Raiden found an impossible-to-ignore pressure descend upon his body, bringing him down to his knees.

At some unknown point in time, the creature had fixed its multiple large pink eyes on him and looked at him as if it was looking across time and space directly.

YOU. WHAT IS YOUR GOAL IN LIFE?!

An imposing voice sounded in Raiden’s mind, its gender indistinguishable from it.

He had a strong feeling that if he did not give an honest answer or an answer that satisfied this being, he would die. Right here, right now.

GIVE ME AN ANSWER NOW!!

The voice demanded, as Raiden felt his own soul tearing and cracking a little due to the sheer pressure that was put on him.

"I-I WANT TO PROTECT MY LOVED ONES!!"

HMM, WILL YOU STILL DO IT, IF YOU EVER HAD TO GO AGAINST SOMEONE STRONGER THAN YOU??

"I WILL!!"

WHAT IF YOUR ENEMY WAS THE STRONGEST IN THE WORLD?!

"THEN I WILL BECOME THE STRONGEST IN THE WORLD TOO!!"

AND WHAT IF YOUR ENEMY WAS THE WHOLE WORLD?! WHAT WILL YOU DO? WILL YOU GO AGAINST THE WHOLE WORLD TO PROTECT YOUR LOVED ONES?!!

"THEN LET THE WHOLE WORLD BE DAMNED!!! I WILL BURN DOWN THE WHOLE WORLD TO PROTECT THE ONES I LOVE!!!"

HAHAHAHA, HOW ARROGANT OF YOU, BOY!! BURN DOWN THE WHOLE WORLD YOU SAY!! HOW ARROGANT INDEED. BUT I LIKE IT!! AND I WILL ENTRUST MY DAUGHTER TO YOU!!! I HOPE YOU DON’T FORGET THE WORDS YOU UTTERED WHEN THE TIME COMES!!!

Raiden found himself flung away from the mysterious vision and back in his room, making it feel like it was all nothing but a surreal dream.

It felt like a lot of time had passed, but it was only an instant in real life, as the egg started shining with even brighter hatching light, making Raiden shield his face with his hands.

The White Catastrophe.

It was not that others did not try to bond with the egg.

That was the number of people who tried to bond with the egg in past 300 years, only for them to fail and suffer backlash, with over half of them ending up dead or permanently disabled for life.

It wasn’t that no one tried to bond with the egg to harness its powers; it was that no one was worthy enough to bond with it.

A cute cry sounded in the room, and even before the light of hatching faded, a blur jumped out of it, directly attaching itself to Raiden’s face.
