I Was Framed, Now I'll Take The Throne
Chapter 71: I’m Rich
Soon enough, Lionel and his two right men arrived at the capital of the city.
The moment they entered the main streets, noise immediately surrounded them.
Wooden carriages continuously passed by the roads while merchants loudly called out to the people to try their product. There were shops everywhere. Some were sealing bread, some were selling meat, while others displayed fabrics and jewelry outside their stores.
Everything you need was in there. And as always, the capital was alive with people.
People filled every corner of the streets. There were low-born nobles, merchants, knights, workers, and commoners, all who were walking around busily. Everyone wore different kinds of clothes depending on their status.
Some looked rich and elegant, some looked simple and ordinary, while there were also people who looked ragged and dirty.
Lionel quietly looked around while walking. Honestly, this was one of the few times he properly walked around the capital like this. He could count the times with his fingers that he went out of the estate.
Back then, he mostly traveled through carriages, so he never paid attention to how lively the city actually was. But now, even though it was chaotic, it still had its beauty.
Rylan and Eiden carefully followed Lionel from behind. The three of them were dressed plainly now. But still, the two men couldn’t help but worry.
"My lord, there are so many people..." Eiden muttered quietly while looking around in amazement and alertness.
"Stay close, my lord," Rylan also reminded him immediately.
Lionel just chuckled at the two. It was so obvious how alert they were with just one look. Earlier, they were excited, but now they seemed to regret their choice of allowing Lionel to be outside
"Buy out fresh bread!"
"New fabrics from the western kingdom!"
"We’re selling cheap fruits here! Very very nice price!!"
The noise from the streets never stopped as they walked straight ahead. Lionel slowly lifted his gaze toward the buildings around them. The capital truly looked big.
There were large establishments on the streets, aside from the small merchant shops. Not far away, imperial soldiers could also be seen patrolling around the area calmly to make sure everything was safe.
"This place really hasn’t changed much..." Lionel quietly murmured to himself as a small smile appeared on his face.
"Hm? Did you say something, my lord?" Eiden looked at him immediately.
"Nothing." Lionel shook his head lightly afterward.
Soon enough, they arrived at a well-known boutique that sold clothes for men.
The building looked clean and expensive. Large glass windows showed neatly arranged clothes inside. Unlike the busy streets, this place was quiet.
There were no customers inside. Instead, there was only the attendant of the place. It was because this shop was actually for nobles or rich merchants.
Commoners would rarely enter here. Not only because of the price, but because the whole place gave off an "upper-class only" feeling. A single piece of clothing here can easily cost 3 months’ worth of salary for an ordinary person.
"My lord... you plan to buy clothes here?" Rylan looked up at the building and blinked.
"We should have brought more guards. You can shop as much as you want if security is tight..." Eiden tilted his head too, slightly nervous.
"I don’t need that many people." Lionel only gave a small laugh and shook his head. He was not really thinking about himself, but rather them. He will buy proper clothes for both of them.
Lionel pushed the door open and stepped inside.
The inside was quiet and wide. Soft lights came from the hanging lamps above, reflecting off the clean and polished floors. Clothes were not displayed like in normal shops. Instead, each piece was carefully placed on wooden mannequins or hangers spaced far apart to give each item its own space.
Aside from that, you would also notice that there were no price tags anywhere or a selection of sizes for clothes. It was because everything here was custom-made. It’s not a shop where you pick something, then pay and get the goods.
Instead, you will pick a design and the staff will measure you, study your build, and adjust every detail so the clothes will fit your build perfectly.
"Welcome." A calm attendant immediately noticed them and stepped forward with a polite bow.
"Hmm..." Lionel looked around once, then spoke calmly. "We need clothes."
"Is it for you, Sir?"
"No." Lionel playfully smiled at that.
The attendant glanced at him, then at Rylan and Eiden behind him. For a brief second, he seemed to understand the situation.
"Yes, young master. Please follow me."
Lionel followed the attendant inside with a calm expression. Rylana nd Eiden also followed him from behind. However, instead of walking deeper right away, he suddenly stopped and turned around.
A small playful smile appeared on his face.
"Now you two," he said casually.
Rylan and Eiden paused at that thinking that Lionel had a task for them. However...
"Go with the attendant," Lionel continued, pointing lightly toward them. "He will get your measurements, and I will pick the designs for your clothes."
"..."" For a second, both of them froze.
"...Huh?" Eiden blinked.
"My lord?" Rylan also looked confused.
Then it clicked to them. Their eyes slowly widened at the same time.
"W-Wait..." Eiden’s voice cracked slightly. "We’re here to buy clothes for us?"
Rylan stiffened. "-sSo that’s why you asked us to come..." 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Lionel only smiled more, clearly enjoying their reaction. They looked nervous that it was funny to his eyes.
"You didn’t think I was only buying for myself, right?"
The two immediately looked at each other. They really thought they were just escorting him. Now they were the ones being dressed instead.
"B-But my lord, we are not nobles—" Eiden pointed at himself slightly.
"You don’t need to be nobles to wear proper clothes," Lionel cut in lightly.
"But this place is expensive..." Rylan still looked unsure.
"What do you think of me?" Lionel smiled sheepishly at that. "I’m rich."
