Chapter 67: Misdirection

Ken and Nero headed up the stairs to find the others, there seemed to be a few rooms inside, but there was only one that seemed to have anything inside. They could hear voices before they even got there.

Ken walked to the door and pushed it in, thankfully everyone was inside the lounge. They all turned to see who had walked in and when they saw Ken and Nero, their guards dropped.

The princess looked at Micheal in Nero’s hands and she knew instantly that they had not come out unscathed from the fight.

"Where is Ross?" she asked immediately, getting up on her feet.

"He went inside to see the marquis," Nero responded. She glanced around the room the way you did when searching for something. "It is very likely that this is a trap, so we have to leave here soon," Nero added. She walked in and dropped Micheal on the chair. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

"Everyone that was with us against the saint died, she is the definition of a monster," Nero added.

The princess was stunned when she heard that, she knew the capability of Nero and how she fought, so if she said that someone was a monster, then it really meant that they were.

Nero looked up at Luna. "He said you could heal, can you help him?" she asked in urgency.

Luna, who had only now recovered from passing out some time ago to help Ken, looked at Micheal’s wounds and then she slowly shook her head. "His wounds are internal more than external and it would take a long amount of time and some good amount of mana, I lack both at the moment," she explained.

Nero clicked her tongue, she looked at Ken. "We can’t just drag him along," she said.

"I have an idea," Ken said while he pulled out one of the branches that he had gotten from Mira. Luna and Leo’s eyes widened when they saw that.

"You are going to seriously use that?" Leo asked, Ken could see in his eyes that he wasn’t okay with that.

"It could cause his mana to go haywire since he isn’t conscious enough to control the flow," Luna added.

Ken snapped a small tip from the top. "I have no intention of giving it all to him," he said and then looked at the small part on his palm. "And even if it is to go haywire, a small amount like this should not kill him," he said and then looked at Luna. She was hesitant, but she finally gave in and gave him an approving nod.

Nero looked at the small stick in his hands, she was not sure what it was meant to do, but she could sense a great deal of mana from it, and she knew that Ken would not intentionally try to kill one of them when she was there, so she sat back and allowed him do what he had to.

Ken fed it to Micheal and forced him to swallow by opening his mouth. He stepped back and everyone watched, nothing happened for the first few seconds, then he coughed, eyes snapping open wide as he looked right at the ceiling.

"It worked," Ken said in confirmation.

"Urghhhh," Micheal groaned as he struggled to sit up, Nero helped him. The wounds on his body all closed at a visible rate.

"Thank you," Nero said to Ken, she had no idea what that stick was, but she knew it was something precious, especially from the way that the elves reacted to it.

"It’s nothing, we need all hands that we can gather if we are going to escape this place," Ken said.

"Hey, who put you in charge, you’ve been bossing everyone around since you walked in here," the princess finally stepped up and spoke, she had been undermined so many times today, she could no longer take it.

Ken looked at her the same way you looked at a confused child. "Are you dumb?" he asked, the question stunned her immediately.

"Hey, mind the way you talk to the princess," Kira stepped forward and spoke, anger blazing in his eyes.

Aren palmed his face and pulled his head back, he looked forward and then spoke. "Listen to me closely, I do not care what your standing might be and who you might be, if you die here, your corpse will rot like me and everyone else," he said in a stern voice.

"You can either choose to work with me or against me and I’ll have no choice but to leave you behind, I have no obligation to you," Ken made it clear.

"That’s enough," Nero spoke and stood up, she looked at Ken with a cold gaze. "You have done a lot for us today and for that I respect you, but regardless, I cannot allow you continue to speak to the princess that way." After she said that she turned and looked at the princess.

"Your Highness, I’ll need you to come down from your high horse and focus on surviving, whoever leads does not matter, as long as he is able to take us out of here, and so far he has proven pretty resourceful."

’Nero, you are a pretty simple to understand lady, no, that’s what you make it seem like, you are interesting I have to say,’ Ken thought as he looked at her.

He had come across many of her type during his days on Earth, fighters that won based on the type of information they fed you, some led you to believe they were men of justice, and then in the ring they unleashed the most underhanded tactics and won the fight they needed to.

Nero was like that, she had a lot that she could do in this position, but she chose to stand back and allow Ken take the lead.

’She is sizing me up.’

Ken could not help but smile when he thought of that, he had no issues with playing along though, it’s not like anyone could fully understand him.

"Our best bet would have been the flying ship, but I’m sure they must have thought of that already from the way that they planned out things. There are no horses anymore, so we only have our feet, the best course of action would be a misdirection."
