I'm in Senior Year, and the System Says I'm Going on a Blind Date with My Childhood Sweetheart
Chapter 123 - 109: Just You Wait, You’ll Be Even Angrier (2)
As for that girl of Yang Shuai’s, all Li Zhi could do was wish her good luck—she was going to need it.
While Li Zhi was left speechless, Shen Yuan was feeling what could only be described as exasperated disappointment.
His eyes were wide with disbelief as he stared at Yang Shuai, as if trying to peer past his dense exterior and see what he was really thinking.
"Don’t you get it?" Shen Yuan’s voice rose an octave, laced with disbelief.
Yang Shuai, however, just looked blank. He stared at Shen Yuan in confusion, clearly baffled by his friend’s reaction.
"Get what?" he asked, scratching his head with an innocent look.
Shen Yuan’s temper instantly flared at the sight.
He suddenly grabbed Yang Shuai by the shoulders and shook him hard, as if trying to shake some sense into him.
"Let me ask you this!" Shen Yuan’s tone was unusually stern. "What was she wearing today? Did she make any special effort with her appearance?"
The question made Yang Shuai pause for a moment, and he seemed to be trying to recall the afternoon.
After a moment, he slowly began, "She was wearing a skirt, ummm..."
He scratched his head again, trying to recall any other details. "Anything else... I don’t think I really noticed."
Hearing Yang Shuai’s answer, Shen Yuan deflated like a punctured balloon and sighed weakly.
He cursed inwardly. ’How can Yang Shuai be so dense?’
’If that girl were here right now,’ he thought, ’I’d tell her without a second’s hesitation: "Hey, just give up. This dumbass really doesn’t deserve you!"’
Shen Yuan took a deep breath, forcing down his frustration, and continued to interrogate Yang Shuai. "Okay, let me ask you this! A girl is mad at you! But you casually ask her to come out for a meal, and she actually shows up! Not only that, she comes wearing a skirt! Think about it! What does that tell you? I’m telling you, she definitely has something else on her mind! And you? You have the nerve to tell me you ’didn’t notice’?!"
After listening to Shen Yuan, Yang Shuai blinked, nodded, and said, "Yeah!"
"’Yeah,’ my ass!"
Shen Yuan finally snapped. He roared, "Do you even have a brain?!"
"Hey, why are you yelling at me? I did exactly what you told me to do!" Yang Shuai looked utterly lost and wronged. He stared wide-eyed at Shen Yuan, completely unable to understand why he was being chewed out.
Shen Yuan’s eyes widened in sheer disbelief.
’He couldn’t believe someone this stupid could actually exist in the world!’
"Just go back to your seat for now," Shen Yuan said, waving his hand listlessly. If he had to talk to Yang Shuai any longer, he felt he was going to die of sheer frustration.
"Wait. When Ah Jie, Teacher Hou, and the others get here, you’re going to tell them exactly what you just told me."
Although Yang Shuai didn’t quite understand, he nodded.
Shen Yuan watched him go, shaking his head helplessly. He sighed to himself again, ’Oh, that poor girl. This dumbass really doesn’t deserve you.’
Over the next half hour, Zhou Shaojie, Yang Ze, and the rest of the group who had eaten together in the cafeteria all started to arrive.
The moment Zhou Shaojie walked in, he saw Shen Yuan sitting at his desk with a dark expression. The atmosphere around him was incredibly tense.
"What’s wrong, Yuan? What happened?" Zhou Shaojie asked, curious.
Shen Yuan looked up, glanced at Zhou Shaojie, and said irritably, "You’ll find out in a minute."
Once everyone had arrived, Shen Yuan gathered them all together, and they surrounded Yang Shuai, who was sitting at Chen Mingyu’s desk. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Shen Yuan looked at Yang Shuai. "Tell them. I refuse to be the only one who’s this pissed off."
Hearing this, Zhou Shaojie laughed. "Ah Shuai, what did you say? You managed to get our Lao Yuan all worked up?"
"Just wait," Shen Yuan said irritably. "You’ll be even more pissed off when you hear it."
Ah Jie laughed and puffed out his chest. "Lao Yuan, I’m not a low-def, low-atk scrub like you. My tolerance is way higher than you think."
Shen Yuan gave a faint smile and said to Yang Shuai, "Go on, tell them."
Under the group’s scrutinizing gaze, Yang Shuai looked a bit fidgety, but he still gave a firm nod.
"Today, I did what Yuan said and asked her out..."
A short while later, Ah Jie was sitting dazedly in his chair. His gaze was vacant, his mouth hung slightly open, and he looked as if all the life had been drained from him.
His expression was one of profound weariness with this absurd world, as if he had completely disconnected from reality.
And Ah Jie wasn’t the only one. Every single person there who had listened to Yang Shuai’s story felt the situation was utterly, absurdly ridiculous.
"Ah Shuai, you really still don’t get it?" Sun Xiansheng asked, his eyes wide with disbelief as he stared at Yang Shuai.
Yang Shuai went, "Ah?" then nodded hesitantly.
"Are you guys saying... she likes me?" Yang Shuai’s voice was laced with a hint of confused disbelief.
Hearing this, Ah Jie suddenly jolted as if he’d been shocked, coming back to life.
’Thank God, he finally gets it!’ A collective sigh of relief went through the group; they all felt immensely gratified.
However, just as everyone thought things were finally about to move on to the next stage, Yang Shuai suddenly blurted out, "But... is that really true?"
His words were like a bucket of cold water, mercilessly dousing the flame of hope that had just been kindled.
"Guards! Drag him away! Drag him away!" Ah Jie suddenly shrieked hysterically, as if he’d gone mad. "We do not wish to see him! We do not wish to see him ever again!"
