Chapter 51: Should we join

Thaedric was poisoned three times that day. Once more Lady Arachne shot an annoyed look as he maintained eye contact while drinking it again.

And by another person he didn’t know. They would have stopped if they knew poison didn’t work on him, not the weak ones they were using anyway.

His bloodline makes him Immune to most poison. So he cared little as he drank away the day one cup of alcohol at a time. His immunity is not specifically for poison since it also makes it hard for Thaedric to get drunk.

"One of them will be your opponent next time," Urlk said. He chooses not to drink anything. He had little trust for the crime lords, not after one betrayed his clan.

Thaedric looked around at the opponents that remained. Gorvo wasn’t drinking anything, he sat alone with his eyes closed looking as if as if he was asleep.

The two remaining ones, are Kaden and Flynn.

Kaden is a lean man with an athletic build. He has short dark hair and piercing blue eyes. His right ear is a mass of torn tissue that has scar over.

Flynn is petite and had curly brown hair, her eyes were the sharp color of her eyes.

They both showed little of their bloodline technique during their fights and right now they were accessing their opponents the same way Thaedric was doing.

And unlike Thaedric, they had been drinking the same cup of alcohol since the beginning of the party. He tried to get information about them but they were new to the slave fighting.

One thing Thaedric knew was that they were strong, they defeated their opponents with just one attack.

"Just enjoy the drink!" Malak shouted. Drinking more. "Don’t think about the fight. It’s not running away and neither are you! You will meet on the stage!"

Thaedric frowned and looked away from the supposed sleeping Gorvo. "I suppose."

Oros collected them before midnight. Malak was drunk and had to be supported by guards as they walked out. The moon was especially bright tonight and a bit of a chill was in the air.

"I should have monitored him but the deals....." Orso smiled as he entered the carriage after they dragged Malak in.

Thaedric and Urlk entered next. Even the win that Oros had today was an avenue to more deals. More money and the slave master was in a good mood, he even threw a praise at Thaedric as the carriage started moving.

Thaedric turned all that out, he was sitting by the small barred window, watching the bustling street pass by. Then saw a dark blur pass by his window and seconds later, the carriage rocked to a stop, its passengers colliding.

Thaedric held on to the window bars to stop himself from slamming into the armored guard sitting opposite him.

"What..." Orso began.

More dark blurs passed by. "Intruders," Sandskar growled in his head.

Thaedric didn’t need the warning. He heard them atop the carriage.

"Prepare for an attack," Thaedric said.

Oros blinked. Then he swings to action. "Protect me and Thaedric!"

’Touching’ Thaedric thought dryly. Just then the roof of the carriage screamed as the roof tore, a metal rod pierced in straight at Orso who reacted like a striking cobra and slapped it away.

"They are trying to force us out," Oros growled.

Sometimes Thaedric forgot that Orso was a tier three. His speed might be slow compared to others but there was no denying his power.

He stood. The carriage was too small for his height and that was exactly what he was aiming for. His upper body shimmered as he stood and then he punched the roof clear off.

"Well, shit." Thaedric was right when he said he didn’t want Orso’s hands near him. He just tore a metal roof off a carriage.

Then he jumped out of the carriage while the guards opened the door and poured out.

"You’re fighting?" Thaedric asked Urlk.

He nodded and showed his dagger.

Thaedric smiled and jumped on the edge of the broken roof, his mace held with one hand.

"Wait! I’m supposed to be protecting you!" The lead guard said standing up.

Thaedric looked at him and then he looked at Malak who was sleeping. "Why don’t you babysit him instead? He’s too drunk to be useful."

He didn’t give the lead guard any chance of saying anything else as he jumped out. He landed lightly on the ground and looked around, they were ambushed right there on the busy street but the people of the Crumbs were no stranger to street fighting. The street was clearing rapidly.

"What is going on?" Urlk asked.

Thaedric pointed with his mace. Orso and his guard were fighting some people in black clothes and masks. He took a second to study Oros.

Orso’s upper body glowed a dull red and the fur covering his body bristled. He moved like a wrecking ball. His slap and punch broke bones and tore flesh. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Thaedric grimaced. "The difference between the tiers..." The assassins were below tier three. Unmatched for tier three Oros.

"Should we join?" Urlk asked.

Thaedric shook his head. "We should worry about them instead," They came out of the alley and surrounded the carriage. "So the tournament isn’t just about the arena. You have to bring it outside."

Two groups of assassins. One to keep Oros and his guards engaged while the others faced Thaedric.

’They must have known that Malak was drunk’ Thaedric counted them. Five tiers two, rank one. The same tier but lower rank than him and their bloodline is weak, nothing special so they might not pose much threat in bloodline technique attacks.

And he had Sandskar.

"Try to keep up." He told Urlk as he lunged forward.

The assassins met him with their sword and the street rang with the shrieking sound of metal on metal. Spark flew and then a body flew sideway.

"One down." Thaedric smiled. He twirled his mace. "Let’s get this done."
