Infinite Dungeon Evolution in a Game-Like World
Chapter 43: Dungeon Break
When Kael was told what would happen to William due to him not spilling information about him, a certain form of respect and rage formed in his heart.
He respected the man that William was, but he was enraged at everyone else who wanted to take down William. He had already known that the upright stance of William would land him in some trouble going forward, but he never thought that it would be that soon and also because of him.
The rage he felt now somehow blinded his view. He had killed a random adventurer to heal Violet and then proceeded to ask for another to be brought to him. He acted as though he did not care, and yes, in that moment, he did not.
Kael sat on the chest, tapping it with his fingers as he waited, and not long after, Guu walked in dragging a bound adventurer. He hurled the adventurer at the feet of Kael.
"This human has an exceptional sword ability," Guu said and took a step back.
The reason why Kael had not gone to search for one himself was because he feared the body would collapse if he did it a second time. So now that Guu had brought a human, he hoped that this human did indeed have a good ability.
The adventurer struggled to get back on his feet. He staggered a few times, and his blurry sight cleared up as he looked around. He saw Guu, he saw Lilith and Violet, with his gaze landing lazily on Kael.
Out of instinct, he grabbed his sword, pulled it, and pointed it at Kael.
"Stay back!" the adventurer yelled.
Kael propped himself off the chest and began walking towards him. ๐๐ง๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฃ๐ธ๐๐๐.๐๐๐
"I said stay back!" he yelled.
"Iโm really sorry that this has to end up being your fate," Kael said. "Iโll be needing your ability, and sadly that means you have to die.
Iโll give you a fighting chance. Come at me, and if you can force me back, youโll have your life. Else, I take it," Kael spoke in a straight tone.
Violet, who was watching, did not know exactly how to feel about this, but she choked it down her throat. After all, Kael was doing this so he could go and save William.
"You can talk?" the adventurer said in shock.
"Sigh, I donโt have the time for this," Kael said. He raised his hands, and a magical formation formed. An explosive blast ripped from above. The adventurer reacted fast. He pulled his sword and slashed upward. His blade met with the explosive blast and sent it back up. It slammed into the roof above with so much force it blasted huge chunks of rock off.
The adventurer was breathing heavily after that, as if that move alone had taken all his energy.
Kael looked at him.
"Interesting, now I definitely want what you have," Kael said and then charged forward at full speed.
[.....]
Kael stood at the entrance of the dungeon as a new hobgoblin, decked in full light armor from head to toe and a sword by his side.
Beside him were Lilith and Guu, along with Violet.
Behind them were tons of glowing eyes peering into the forest, and in the distance were adventurers running away from the forest with all their might, eager to get away from the monsters that had sprung out of nowhere in the dungeon and had killed many adventurers already.
"I guess this is it," Kael muttered.
[Dungeon break has begun, good luck]
The system rang out soon after, telling him that the time had come for it to start.
He raised his hands and then brought them down, and instantly the monsters ran out, bursting out of the gates of the dungeon with all their might and speed. Five hundred monsters all moving at the same time, the forest trembled. Every living thing around was aware of their ground-shaking presence.
"We will be going behind. We are going to find William," Kael said and then began walking in the direction of the town. Lilith and Guu followed behind, while Violet, who was feeling a bit guilty about what would happen to the town, followed behind.
At the same time in Raven Town, William was tied to a pole at the center of town, stripped down until only his underwear remained, his body covered in bruises and heavy wounds.
His face was beaten to a pulp and swollen beyond recognition.
Standing beside him was the culprit, Robert, with his head lifted high and the entire town square filled with people watching him.
He grabbed William by the hair and raised his head so all could see his face.
"Take a good look at the person who decided to trick all of us. He lied to us all the years that he had been here. He worked with the Blood Moon Cult and plotted for our destruction.
I took him as a son and I groomed him, yet he was only a snake lurking in the grass and waiting for his time to strike."
His words pumped up the crowd, and everyone immediately began chanting for death. They hurled slurs at him, and some threw food at him.
Robert could barely hold in his smile as he watched it all unfold, every step that he had planned out working perfectly.
"Under the permission of the Baron, I hold the right to pass judgment. But this crime was not committed against me alone, but rather against the entire town, so I give it all to you. What punishment do you want to inflict?"
"Death! Death!"
"Kill him!"
The shouts were loud, as if paid to shout. Robert smiled in contentment as he reached for his sword.
"Dungeon break, itโs a monster wave!" a voice screamed so loudly that it cut through the noise and managed to reach every single person.
Heads turned, murmuring started.
"Did they just say monster wave?"
Robert looked into the distance. He could not see it yet, but he could sense the trouble that was headed their way.
