Infinite Rebate: I Get Richer Every Time I Spend
Chapter 10: Trouble at the Barbecue Stall
Although Lucas told them to order whatever they wanted, the three roommates didn’t really go overboard. Each of them only ordered twenty or thirty dollars worth of food, and no matter what dish it was, they only picked a few skewers at a time.
Seeing them being so hesitant, Lucas said to the server nearby, "Erase everything they just ordered. I will order myself."
He snatched the menu from Max’s hand and took a casual glance at it.
"Give me one hundred skewers each of lamb, beef, squid, and kidney," he said. "Also, bring me a large plate of crayfish, a grilled fish, and add 100 dollars worth of vegetable dishes. You handle the rest!"
Afterwards, he looked at his dumbfounded roommates and asked, "Do you want to drink beer or soft drinks?"
Max finally snapped out of it and asked incoherently, "Lucas, why... why did you order so much? Isn’t that too wasteful?"
They had just looked at the menu. The dishes Lucas ordered added up to at least 2,000 dollars! That was almost as much as their monthly living expenses!
"It is fine. If we cannot finish it, we will just pack it up to go and heat it up for breakfast tomorrow morning," Lucas replied nonchalantly.
He then looked at the group and continued asking, "Beer or soft drinks?"
"With such a great barbecue, how could we drink soft drinks? Bring on the beer!"
Seeing that Lucas, the one paying, did not care, Max spoke up generously. Ben and Luke nodded excitedly.
Their family situations were only slightly better than Lucas’s. They rarely had the chance to enjoy such a lavish barbecue!
While excited, the group was also surprised by Lucas’s sudden generosity. Even if Lucas had won the lottery, he would not be generous enough to treat them to such a good barbecue, right?
Since Max had a closer relationship with Lucas, he was a bit more casual with his questioning. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"Lucas, did you really win the lottery?"
Lucas certainly could not tell the truth. Even if he did, they definitely would not believe him. He replied half-truthfully, "I did not win the lottery, but I made a little money trading stocks these past few days!"
According to the explanation provided by the Infinite Rebate System, the nearly one million dollars he earned today was traceable in the stock market, so he was not afraid of anyone suspecting anything.
The system had even opened separate accounts for him in several major global financial markets.
Of course, this small amount of money would not attract anyone’s attention for now.
But when his capital reached billions or tens of billions in the future, if he did not have a reasonable explanation, someone would surely come to investigate the source of his funds.
They were all finance majors, so they were all too familiar with the stock market things Lucas mentioned.
They dabbled in it a little themselves. They could not lose much, and if they won, it was just enough for a couple of packs of cigarettes!
But Lucas spent over 2,000 dollars on a single barbecue meal, so he must have made at least tens of thousands. How much capital would one need to earn that much money?
They were all secretly curious about where Lucas got his capital. Of course, everyone has their own little secrets, and no one was foolish enough to probe further.
Before long, various types of barbecue were served one after another, and soon a large table was completely filled.
Looking at the aromatic and appetizing barbecue skewers in front of them, Max and the others all swallowed their saliva.
Seeing this, Lucas smiled and said, "Dig in! Fill your stomachs a bit before we start drinking beer!"
Facing so many skewers, the group did not stand on ceremony. They each grabbed their favorite barbecue skewers and started eating!
Because Lucas had ordered so much, when the crayfish and grilled fish were served, there was not enough room, so they had to add another table.
Lucas was not hungry at all, so he just ate a little bit and kept them company, drinking and chatting.
The topics university guys talked about were nothing more than which girl was how pretty, and so on.
As they chatted, the conversation drifted to Lucas’s ex-girlfriend, Jessica.
"Lucas, is Jessica going to find a job in your hometown after graduation too?"
Max asked while peeling a spicy crayfish.
"Max, do not mention that woman anymore. She and I have absolutely nothing to do with each other now!"
Upon hearing this, the three of them looked at Lucas in shock!
They had all seen how Lucas had taken such meticulous care of Jessica over the past few years. They had thought this golden couple would have a happy ending, but who would have thought that just before graduation, they would hear this news from Lucas himself.
"Lucas, are you okay?"
Max asked, feeling a bit worried.
Lucas chuckled!
"Do I look like I am not okay? I just regret that I was blind for the past few years. Forget it, let us not talk about that bitch anymore. I have finally escaped from misery now. Let us all have a drink!"
Seeing that Lucas did not seem upset, they still had many questions in their hearts, but in the subsequent conversation, they intentionally or unintentionally avoided the topic of women.
As they were chatting about a ball game, suddenly, a loud burst of laughter came from nearby.
"Hahaha! Lucas Gray, it really is you, you bastard! I was just worrying about how to lure you out of campus. I did not expect you to dare to come out for barbecue!"
Lucas looked up and saw five or six people had arrived nearby at some point.
The one laughing wildly was none other than Zack Moss, with whom he had a conflict earlier that afternoon!
The few people next to him were clearly street thugs. Their hair was a mess, and they had tattoos on their arms, as if they were afraid people would not know they were gangsters!
It was quite a coincidence. After being slapped by Lucas today, Zack felt angrier the more he thought about it. He was eager to get revenge as soon as possible, so he found a campus thug from the next class and asked him to introduce a few street thugs to discuss how to get revenge.
Of course, hiring people from outside definitely required paying a price, and tonight he was planning to treat these thugs to a full night of entertainment.
First barbecue, then karaoke, and then sauna and massage!
Who would have thought that before they even started the first activity, he would run into Lucas!
"Blaze, is this the guy who slapped you this afternoon?"
A yellow-haired guy asked arrogantly.
"That is him, Blaze. Make sure he learns his lesson. I will fund your operation for the next two days."
Max and the others had no idea what was going on. Seeing that Blaze and the others did not look like good people, they could not understand why Zack would call such thugs to deal with Lucas.
They hurriedly stood up to mediate. "Zack, what is going on between you and Lucas? Everyone is a classmate. Is it necessary to make things so awkward?"
Although they were in the same class, Zack and Max’s group had no friendship whatsoever.
Seeing Max stand up to mediate, Zack became even more arrogant and said, "Max, and you two as well, I know you are all from the same dormitory.
I advise you not to meddle when we start, otherwise I will have Blaze take care of you all together!"
Upon hearing this, Ben and Luke stood up involuntarily and took two steps back. It was clear they did not want to get involved in the matter between Lucas and Zack!
But Max did not back down. He held up his phone and said, "If you dare to make a move, I will call the police immediately. There is surveillance..."
