Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!
Chapter 678 - The last foraging task (Darth’s Nightmares Part 2)
As for what the things those comments and whispers were about, they are mostly talking about Darth being a pitiful orphan and being an unwanted child of his father. They even said that he should have been nothing without his family backing him up so why was he acting so aloof and haughty. Some even called him useless since his eyesight was worsening year after year even though he has always done well in academics and other things throughout his childhood.
As I heard those comments, I could help but shake my head of how evil adults can be at times to children. Darth was not haughty or aloof when he was young based on the memories I have seen. He was extremely shy and socially awkward, even insecure at most situations if you think about it. He grew up in a household that never praised him for things that he had done well since they think it was what was expected of him to begin with. His grandfather was a perfectionist and his father was stuck in his own heartbreak and world of negative thoughts.
Others did not say anything but their actions were still making the young Darth feel bad. Most people simply choose to avoid him or pretend to not see him. They even started calling him weird after some time because he liked to be alone and rarely talks. The worst of all the comments was when someone said that his father was crazy and he will most likely become just like him, sick in the head, saying it was a hereditary thing.
Him being from a previous pope’s family has undoubtedly made most of the people in the church wary of him but it did not stop them from making side comments or talking about him behind his back. Nobody approached or befriended him out of their own accord. Some did but they had ulterior motives like trying to use him to usurp the pope position or getting monetary gains. These people wanted to turn him into a puppet leader while they control the church in the background.
As for why some people avoid him, it may be out of fear, respect or they just do not want to be seen as supporting the previous leadership. With all these things happening from the time he could understand things as a young boy, no wonder his aura seemed dark, gloomy, aloof and with a hint of dislike for everything and everyone. It was such a huge contrast with the other members of the church when I first came here.
Realizing that all the noises have been bombarding the child’s ears (Darth’s consciousness is the little boy), I quickly ran towards the sobbing child and hugged him. I carried him by the armpits like a little kid that he currently is and took him away from that noisy place forcefully. I ran back to the area of his consciousness where I first appeared in. Like magic, I noticed that the more we ran away from that noisy place, the more light spread throughout Darth’s mental world.
As I opened my eyes to exit Darth’s consciousness, the body of the man in question has finally stopped shivering. He slowly closed his eyes and fell into my arms in an unconscious state.
I am not sure if there is something peculiar about my presence but it seems like he has started a habit of passing out whenever he was with me. He did the first time when I healed his eyes and this is the second one.
Now, I am confused if I should bring him with me in his current state or if I should instead put him back inside his house at the back of the temple like last time. With a heavy sigh I eventually made the decision of bringing him along so I carried him like a princess and I started to speed float towards the western forests. I could run but I do not want to shake the unconscious scaredy cat too much and bother his rest.
I thought that Darth would wake up after a few hours but he stayed sound asleep throughout my short trip. I guess his body and his mind has been screaming for rest for the longest time but he must have issues falling asleep with all that noise in his head.
An hour before I am set to return to the temple, Darth’s body temperature suddenly shot up. His body suddenly became feverish which must be caused by the scare earlier which was then followed by his nightmares. Fortunately, it was about time for me to go back to the temple. I also have the habit to always keeps common medicine in my storage since I am always with humans that are very delicate.
I gave Darth some heat reduction medicine and wiped his body using some cool water. I shortened my trip outside by half an hour so that the healers from the temple can tend to him the soonest. I also have a demanding soon-to-be husband that is waiting for me to wed him.
I did not bother to float, much less run. I simply teleported back to the space right in front of the main door of the temple. Well, I did not consider how weird it was to appear with an unconscious man in my arms. If I knew at that time that it would cause such a fiasco, I should have just teleported right in front of the pharmacy hut instead.
As I appeared in front of the temple, I walked briskly through the main door, passing through the corridors and members that are passing by. I continued till I was in front of the pharmacy hut and told the people inside to send somebody to tend to Darth who has a high fever in his home.
The trio inside the hut hurriedly opened the door then took some bottles of medicines and their notepads with them. They locked the door of the hut and hurriedly followed me to Darth’s house.
Inside Darth’s house, I systematically went inside his room and laid the unconscious man on his bed. When I looked back, the pharmacy hut trio are looking at me with confused eyes. I looked at them and asked, "What?"
Rafe, being the more we expressive out of the three asked directly, "You seem to know around Darth’s house?" I simply replied "Hmm".
I simply left instructions on what they have to do for Darth’s condition then simply left the hut. Who would have thought that a simple act of saying "Hmm" instead of explaining properly would cause a misunderstanding real soon.
