Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!
Chapter 679 - Drama before the wedding
The scene wherein I walked along the hallways of the temple with an unconscious Darth in my arms quickly spread to all the members in a span of minutes. As we know, idle people love gossiping and it is not like this place has TV or internet to spend your free time on so such juicy news would be the talk of the town soon.
As expected, it reached Clarence’s ears even before I even reached the pharmacy hut and way before I placed Darth on his own bed inside his own home. Because of this incident, I saw another side of my soon-to- be husband. It was his not-so-fun petty side.
After leaving Darth’s hut, I simply went back to my quarters to take a relaxing bath. I took my time soaking myself in the warm water in my oversized bath tub to soothe my tired body and mind. It is still early anyways so depositing my spoils to the food storage can wait for now.
At this time, I did not know that the previous instance where I was carrying an unconscious man in my arms has already been known to everyone. I also did not think that my soon-to-be husband is waiting for me in his quarters for some coaxing and an explanation.
I did not leave the bath until after an hour or so. I dried my body up with a simple magic spell and then I continued walking back to my bedroom to lay for a while.
I still have about an hour before the wedding ceremony starts and you wouldn’t blame me if I wanted this time all to myself. Though I have always went with the flow, went around and met people then even ended up married more than I originally thought would be possible, it doesn’t mean that such changes don’t stress me out.
I can’t help but think about what my relationship with Darth would turn out to be after all of this. Though I have never touched him inappropriately and did not accept his advances as I know that he is doing it to mostly anger Clarence, I have touched his inner consciousness and even his soul when I entered his mind. That is honestly as intimate as it can get between people. I feel that this fact would create more complications for my overall relationship to the Church of Lumienere in the near future.
After that my thoughts move to the fact that I also miss my husbands and my adorable babies. I can’t wait for all my academe courses and my life as a student at the academe to be over with so I can have more time doing the things and being with the people that I loved.
Just when I was enjoying my personal time while reflecting, a loud and kind of hurried series of knocks on the door paused interrupted me. I simply replied "Come in", not caring who might be at the door and whatever they would need to say.
After a few seconds, I heard the door open followed by the sound of footsteps towards my bedroom which suddenly stopped right outside the door. This made me realize that I totally forgot that no one in this temple, not even Clarence or the pope, would dare to enter my bedroom without my permission for whatever reason.
I lazily stood up and put a robe on me then walked towards the door. I used a simple spell to open it, keeping several steps of distance from the door and whoever was standing outside.
When the door opened, it was one of the paladins named Ned (the leader during the first foraging mission). He bowed his head, not daring to meet my eyes as he spoke, "Saintess, the high priest is refusing to come out of his room without you fetching him. He demanded that you personally carry him in your arms from his room to the wedding hall for everyone to see."
At first I was confused as to where this whim came from then realized that the news of the unconscious Darth being carried by me to his hut for healing has been known to the whole temple. Ugh. The jealousy of men.
I chuckled and replied to Ned, "No worries. I will pick him up when the designated time comes. Thank you for letting me know. Go and tell him my response."
I saw the tips of Ned’s ears turn red as he nodded obediently and then excused himself to leave after a short thanks. He almost ran away from my room as if I was chasing him or even did something naughty to him. Aren’t the men in this world too adorable?
I closed the door and went back to lay on my bed, just staring at the ceiling letting thoughts come to my mind one after the other. Not really minding whatever topic or person comes to me. For some people, this activity must be tiring but for me, it is relaxing since it helps me plan properly for the future of my huge family.
After about an hour of rolling around the bed while doing nothing, I felt that familiar connection in my head buzz. It seems that Mr. Purple Dragon found me again. It must have taken a toll on him these past few days, trying to find someone who is constantly on the move from one place to another. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
I will let him peek a little bit for now but I will need to forcefully cut the connections he made to me eventually right before the wedding is about to commence. I don’t want him to figure out who I am marrying and where exactly I am since I would need to stay here for a few more days. I can’t afford to be tracked down by another race or for any other distractions and complications to happen during my honeymoon.
After another half an hour, I finally stood up and used magic to dress myself up and finish my hairdo for the wedding in a matter of seconds. I repeatedly refused to be assisted or be assigned any attendants since all of the staff here are male priests technically. The whole idea just doesn’t sit right with me, honestly.
After dressing up, it is finally time to pick up my little petty groom from his room. And also, carry him like a princess like he requested.
