Chapter 2912: Show of Hands
“This is a forbidden area. No asura is allowed here,” Tushan Yu explained.
Zu An saw stern guards stationed before the only passageway. It was unlikely that he could sneak in unnoticed, even with his Myriad Transformations. Fortunately, there was no need for him to do so, since he could just strut in with Tushan Yu with him.
Armed guards rushed forth and encircled the two of them. At the same time, large siege weapons in the distance began shifting to target them.
Tushan Yu didn’t bother uttering a word. She simply took out a peculiarly shaped token. The guards hurriedly stowed their weapons, bowed respectfully to the duo, and stepped aside for them to pass.
Tushan Yu calmly led Zu An into the passageway, leaving him amazed. It’s so much easier when you have connections.
The two of them stepped onto a little boat, which automatically navigated into the sea. Some time later, the boat abruptly stopped.
Zu An noticed the sea region they were in was ink-black. The deeper the sea, the darker its color. The sight of such a dark sea stirred his fear. Is this the Abyss of Eternal Night?
The sea in front of them whirled. The seawater converged to form two huge asuras, who inspected the two of them with ferocious gazes. In response, Tushan Yu took out her token once more. The two huge asuras returned to the sea and formed a pair of double doors, which opened to reveal a staircase descending into the middle of the sea.
Tushan Yu turned around and smiled. “Big brother Zu, let’s head down.”
Zu An nodded. He looked at the smooth walls of the descending passageway—they were all made out of seawater. Even though he could accomplish the same feat through his Crown of the Ocean Deity, he still wondered which great power in this world had done this.
It was unknown how long Zu An and Tushan Yu walked for; it felt like ages before they finally reached the bottom of the long descending staircase. They were now deep in the sea, a space that ought to be devoid of light, yet this place wasn't dark. Glowing jellyfish and corals floated around. It wasn't as bright as the outside world, but it was enough to see everything clearly.
As Zu An ventured further in, he couldn’t help but frown.
“What’s wrong?” Tushan Yu noticed his expression and asked.
“This scenery looks familiar.”
“Familiar? But you shouldn’t have been here before.” Tushan Yu was perplexed.
Zu An took another good look at his surroundings. It didn’t take him long to trace where the feeling of familiarity stemmed from. While the buildings were different, this place greatly resembled the Tomb of Ten Thousand Dragons en route to the Netherworld in the future. Hold on, this place is also known as an abyss. Could the Abyss of Eternal Night be...
He rushed ahead and soon arrived at a cliff. Ahead of the cliff was a pitch-black abyss that looked as if it would devour everything. It evoked a sense of familiarity and intimacy. It was the same abyss he had encountered in the future Tomb of Ten Thousand Dragons.
He explained the situation to Tushan Yu. The latter widened her eyes in amazement. “Big brother Zu, won’t you take me to the Netherworld for a tour when we return to the future?”
“Sure,” Zu An replied with a smile. He wondered if the world beyond this abyss was still the Netherworld. Lady Houtu’s Underworld should be the previous form of the Netherworld, though. Guessing was futile, so he decided to head into the abyss to take a look.
“I’m a bit scared,” Tushan Yu hesitantly spoke up. “The Abyss of Eternal Night looks like a beast that devours humans. It’s also rumored that the Asura Progenitor Demon God is buried here.”
“Don’t worry, I’ve been into the abyss before. Wait here. I’ll be right back.” Zu An planned to head down alone, but Tushan Yu didn’t want to part ways with him.
This wasn't Zu An’s first time bringing someone into the abyss, so he wrapped her with his divine energy before the two of them leaped in. The abyss was different from what he remembered, though. It was suffused with bloodthirst and malevolent intent. The gravitational pull was also stronger than before. Were it not for Zu An becoming stronger, he would have been ripped into shreds in an instant.
“It looks similar on the outside, but there are significant differences. Something must have happened in between that resulted in the abyss becoming tamer in the future,” Zu An murmured under his breath.
Just then, he landed on sturdy ground. He first turned around and saw a swirling pitch-black door behind him—it was the Abyss of Eternal Night’s exit. Then, he surveyed his surroundings and noted that he wasn't in the Netherworld, but a completely different world. This place was monotonous, with no noteworthy features other than the meandering mountains in the distance.
Zu An felt uneasy; he had been feeling this way ever since he descended the steps. He hadn’t been paying close attention on his way here because he was too focused on checking out the Abyss of Eternal Night. But now that he looked back on it, this place seemed to be shrouded in an eerie formation. And this world was likely the formation core.
He was about to look around when he sensed something. “Someone’s coming.”
Tushan Yu was taken aback. She looked around in a panic. “There aren’t any hiding spots.”
But Zu An remained calm. He embraced her and turned incorporeal, disappearing from sight.
Right after they disappeared, the pitch-black vortex door behind them stirred, and three figures emerged from it. Zu An recognized two of them—they were Lozento and his vice-commander, Tologa. The last one emanated an aura that was on par with Lozento.
Tushan Yu wrote words on Zu An’s chest, informing him that the third person was First Elder Pimosh.
Zu An was forced to admit that Tushan Yu was indeed a vixen. Even her gestures seduced him. If not for the inappropriate occasion, he would have had a passionate time with her right away. But he quickly reined himself in and focused on the situation at hand. Why would the Asuras’ powerhouses appear here at this time?
Lozento asked, “Pimosh, how do you intend to revive the Asura Progenitor Demon God? I heard you’re preparing a ritual, but what is the tribute?”
“Who told you that?” Pimosh was surprised.
“It doesn’t matter who told me that. Is it true?”
“As expected of the War God. You have your sources. You even uncovered such a confidential secret. Yes, I’m planning to hold a ritual to revive the Demon God. The tribute is, of course, the Asura King,” Pimosh replied.
Lozento frowned. “I don’t understand rituals, but if it’s possible to revive the Demon God by sacrificing the Asura King, why hasn’t anyone done that yet?”
“What are you trying to say?” Pimosh asked.
“I sensed a devil aura from your envoy. Are you working with the Devils?” Lozento coldly glared at Pimosh.
“The Devils are from the Celestial World, but we have a common enemy. There’s no harm joining hands with them,” Pimosh calmly replied.
“Devils are treacherous beings who beguile hearts. Working with them will only bring destruction upon the Asuras,” Lozento said grimly. “If my guess is on the mark, you intend to sacrifice my Blood Sea Army as well. Am I right, my beloved vice-commander?”
Tologa’s eyes widened in horror. Without any hesitation, he unleashed his full prowess and attempted to launch a preemptive attack, but Lozento was much faster. He grabbed Tologa’s neck with a swift swipe.
Tologa’s hands immediately fell limp by his sides. He didn’t dare fight back anymore.
