Kind-hearted Grim Reaper
Chapter 55 - 15 Magic Test_2
Feng Ping frowned, "What’s so urgent that it needs to be done right now?"
Ah Dai lowered his head, "Master Uncle, please don’t make things difficult for me. These are all Master’s personal matters. He asked me specifically before his death to do them as quickly as possible."
Feng Ping sighed, "Well then, follow me." Saying that, he led Ah Dai into a room at the back of the Mercenary Guild. The Red Lion Mercenary Corps that Feng Ping belonged to was a first-class mercenary corps, with a small reputation on the mainland. He wanted to recruit Ah Dai, but seeing his current state, he had to give up the idea.
Feng Ping took out a small cloth bag from the cabinet, handed it to Ah Dai and said, "Use this on your journey. After you’ve taken care of your master’s business, come back and find me. I’m usually here, but even if I’m not, I’ll definitely be back within a month. Then, I’ll take you back to the mountains. Be careful on the road, the mainland is not very peaceful now."
Ah Dai held the heavy cloth bag. Having been a thief before, he knew just by touch that this was a bag of money. "Master Uncle, thank you, but how can I take your money?"
Feng Ping’s expression darkened, "Why are you being polite with your master uncle? We’re all family and should help each other. By the way, Ah Dai, don’t you have a formal name?"
Ah Dai shook his head, "Ever since I can remember, I’ve always been called Ah Dai."
Feng Ping sighed, "You must have suffered a lot when you were young. Ah Dai, although I only sparred with you twice just now, I feel that your True Qi isn’t weaker than mine. Which level have you reached now? It seems you’re even better at cultivating incessant True Qi than I am."
Ah Dai scratched his head, "I’ve cultivated the fourth level of True Qi and should be close to the fifth level."
Feng Ping was shocked. He had only cultivated to the fifth level of True Qi last year. How could this seemingly naïve kid make such fast progress? Progressing each level after the third is difficult in the cultivation of True Qi. Among his master’s generation, only one or two had reached the eighth level. The highest ninth level was attained only by his master’s master. When he was the kid’s age, he had just barely entered the third level of True Qi, and his master was very satisfied.
"The fifth level is already quite good. Work hard, and I’m sure you will expand the reputation of the Tian Gang Sword Sect."
Ah Dai nodded, "Master Uncle, I will." He had already made up his mind to train hard for a few years after finding Master Goris.
Feng Ping said, "Since you’re very busy, I won’t hold you up. We’ll catch up when we get the chance." Feng Ping escorted Ah Dai out of the Mercenary Guild before stopping. Under his concerned gaze, Ah Dai didn’t dare to go directly to the Mage Guild, but walked a long way, lingered around a corner before returning. This wasn’t because Ah Dai was smart, but because he instinctively felt it wasn’t right letting Feng Ping see him enter the Mage Guild.
"Boy, I think you got the wrong place," came a deep voice.
Ah Dai had just stepped into the Mage Guild. His mind was still filled with thoughts of his warm Master Uncle. He looked around and saw a large magic hexagram painted on the floor in the middle of the hall. On the wall in front were several names classified from top to bottom. The highest title was Magus, but it was vacant. Below was Great Magician with one name, followed by Senior Magician, Intermediate Magician and Junior Magician, with the most names following Junior Magician. There was a counter underneath the wooden sign and an old man in a yellow magic robe behind the counter. The voice was obviously from this old man.
Ah Dai scratched his head and tentatively asked, "Isn’t this the Mage Guild?"
The old magician was still sitting there, "Yes, this is the Mage Guild. Please leave. We don’t have any magicians willing to become mercenaries."
Ah Dai was taken aback. The old magician apparently mistaken him for someone from the mercenary corps. He quickly waved his hands, "No, no, I’m not a mercenary. I’m here to take the magician test and receive rewards." He had finally found the Mage Guild. He wondered how he would look in a magician’s robe.
The old magician blinked at him, "Are you kidding? A samurai learning magic? That’s very rare." 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Ah Dai blinked, "Why can’t a samurai learn magic? Besides, I am indeed a magician! My uncle said that I should at least be a Junior Magician."
The old magician frowned. The boy in front of him who was dressed as a samurai didn’t look like he was joking. But considering he was carrying a wide sword from the Tian Gang Sword Sect, he should be good at martial arts, right? How could he possibly learn magic? Magic isn’t something anyone can learn. It requires high talent. After practicing for so many years, he himself is only an earth system Junior Magician, and because he doesn’t have a noble title, he can only act as a gatekeeper here. Looking at the naïve boy in front of him, he probably wouldn’t be stronger than himself, right? He waved at Ah Dai, "Come here."
Ah Dai moved a few steps forward and stood in front of the old magician. The old magician looked at him carefully, "No matter how I look at you, you seem like a samurai. But since you want to take the test, you need to pay the fee first. If you pass the test, the fee will be returned to you. If you don’t pass, the money naturally goes to the Guild."
