A-WOOO!

Prince let out a disappointed growl and vanished into the darkness with his two beloved sons. Princess, meanwhile, cautiously backed away.

"That’s a fine white dog," Big Beard said, his eyes gleaming.

"That’s a wolf. A Taiga Wolf," Wawa corrected him. She then announced that the supplies had been unloaded from the plane and they were clear to depart.

Meanwhile, the supplies were brought back to the camp, sorted, and stored in the warehouse.

Feng Shan was about to take a new tent outside the camp to test it when a series of wolf howls grew closer, echoing from the distance.

’Why is the White Wolf Pack here?’

Ever since the camp had been moved from the RV site to the riverbank, the White Wolf Pack had kept its distance, disliking the noise and bustle of so many people. With the arrival of the snowmobiles, the wolf-pulled sleds had also become obsolete.

With Feng Shan’s permission, the White Wolf Pack had been living freely in the Moonlight Forest.

But there was a trace of anxiety in their howls. It sounded like something was wrong.

Feng Shan strode toward the wooden bridge.

The second batch of camp employees, unaware of the White Wolf Pack’s existence, rushed out of their log cabins at the sound of the howls. They stared warily into the darkness-shrouded wilderness.

"There’s a wolf pack this close to camp!"

"Oh my God, they’re not going to attack the camp, are they?!"

"Quick! Radio the boss! We need to set up a defense!"

"Didn’t you see? The boss is already on the bridge."

The employees broke into a flurry of discussion. Some were curious, others were afraid, and a few even started looking for makeshift weapons.

Jenny appeared with Erica and a few others. Seeing the panicked employees, she quickly explained.

"Don’t be afraid. Khilla raised all these wolves. They won’t hurt anyone."

"Exactly. What’s there to be afraid of?" Erica scoffed. "Khilla used to use them to pull sleds."

’The boss raised a wolf pack?’

’To pull sleds?’

The new employees exchanged glances. They had never heard of anyone using wolves to pull sleds before.

Nash and Yves walked up to Feng Shan’s side. "Khilla, why is the White Wolf Pack here?"

"I don’t know. Something must be up," Feng Shan said, shaking his head. His gaze pierced the distant darkness.

A moment later, over a dozen white wolves appeared. Feng Shan put his fingers to his lips and whistled sharply.

Hearing the whistle, the pack immediately changed direction and ran toward Feng Shan.

They moved with swift agility, their white forms streaking through the darkness like flashes of lightning.

The pack skidded to a halt two or three meters from Feng Shan, then obediently sat down as one.

"Lao Liu, what’s wrong?" Feng Shan asked, looking at the mature-faced white wolf at the front of the pack.

Lao Liu, the white wolf, turned and disappeared into the pack. When it reemerged, it was carrying a fresh reindeer leg, fur and all. It approached Feng Shan subserviently and laid it at his feet.

"Bringing me meat? You think I’m short on food?" Feng Shan grinned, bending down to pick up the reindeer leg. But then his brow furrowed. He turned to Yves. "Have you guys been hunting recently?"

"We haven’t sent out a hunting party in a long time. The last time was when you went into the Tundra yesterday." Yves was confused by the question.

"Take a look at this." Feng Shan handed him the reindeer leg.

Yves took the leg and saw the bullet hole. He probed the wound for a moment, his expression turning grim.

"It’s a .300 Magnum round. From a Remington M700 sniper rifle," he said. "We don’t have that model in the camp."

"Exactly." Feng Shan nodded. "How long ago do you think it was shot?"

Yves examined the leg, checking the freshness of the meat. "It was a young reindeer. Shot no more than twelve hours ago."

Feng Shan sneered. "In other words, someone used a Remington M700 sniper rifle to kill a young reindeer inside the Crown Territory within the last twelve hours."

"Khilla, someone has trespassed on the Crown Territory," Yves finished his thought.

The Crown Territory was private land.

Its borders were marked with signs, and the boundary line itself was painted to warn strangers that this was private property and entry was forbidden.

Alaskan law is clear: once a border is properly marked with paint and designated as a private property line, no one may cross it. Doing so is a violation of property law.

As the landowner, he was entitled to use any weapon and any means to repel trespassers, with no liability for injury or death.

And that was exactly the situation at hand.

The White Wolf Pack had discovered a poached reindeer while on patrol, torn off the wounded section, and brought it back to camp.

Fuck!

’I don’t even dare to hunt reindeer on my own damn land whenever I please.’

’But you people just waltz right in, uninvited.’

’And you don’t even spare the young ones.’

’They’re tearing out the very roots of the Crown Territory.’

Feng Shan’s eyes went cold. "Yves, Nash, Gunpowder, Bat, Scar! You have ten minutes. Grab your badges and weapons. We’re going to go entertain our guests. Wawa, you stay here and hold down the camp."

"Nash, don’t forget my MG42."

At his command, the men sprang into action. When they reappeared, each wore a Crown Territory badge on his chest and carried a weapon—all of them fully automatic.

"Lao Liu, take me to where you found this," Feng Shan said. He took the MG42 from Nash, mounted it on the handlebars of his snowmobile, and held up the reindeer leg.

The white wolf rose, threw its head back with a howl, and led the pack into the darkness.

Feng Shan and his five men followed close behind on their snowmobiles.

Once they left the area warmed by the tribe’s Fire Seed, the temperature plummeted to more than thirty degrees below zero.

The biting cold was like a thousand sharp blades, relentlessly assailing their bodies.

Even though Feng Shan and his men were wearing thick, fur-lined parkas, they could still feel the cold seeping into their very bones.

Frost quickly formed on their eyebrows and eyelashes, and the skin on their faces grew numb and stiff.

The White Wolf Pack sprinted across the snow, their hot breaths instantly condensing into white clouds in the frigid air.

They crossed the Melting Ice River, leaving the riverbank behind.

Upon entering the Moonlight Forest, the snowmobiles’ limitations became apparent. Navigating through the trees was extremely difficult.

Thick trees were scattered everywhere, and the tight spaces made it difficult to maneuver the snowmobiles.

Branches constantly scraped against their frames, making an unsettling racket.

The tracks slipped on the snow and dead leaves, drastically reducing their speed.

「Half an hour later.」

The wolf pack leading the way came to a stop, gathered around a disturbed patch of snow. Lao Liu pawed at the ground, letting out urgent whimpers.

Feng Shan and his men dismounted, grabbed shovels from their snowmobiles, and began to clear the snow.

In the silent forest, the scraping of their shovels was jarringly loud.

When the snow was cleared, all six men were instantly grinding their teeth in rage.

The sight before them was enraging. Several reindeer lay in pools of blood, their bodies mutilated. They had obviously been slaughtered, and the heads and pelts of the adults were gone.

The snow pit was stained red with blood, and the air reeked of its coppery tang.

Yves inspected the carcasses in the pit and said furiously,

"Five reindeer, adults and young. It’s the work of poachers. They hunt illegally, and to save weight, they only take the valuable hides and heads, leaving the meat to rot."

Hearing this, Feng Shan clenched his jaw, a muscle twitching in his cheek.

He stared at the gruesome sight in the pit, his heart aching with regret.

Five reindeer were a precious asset to the Crown Territory. Adults produced fawns, and those fawns would grow up to continue the line for generations.

In other words, these bastards had inflicted a devastating loss on the Crown Territory.

’They even went after the young ones.’

Fire blazed in Feng Shan’s eyes. He walked over to the skinned carcass of an adult reindeer, pulled off his gloves, and took out a grass rope he hadn’t used for a long time to perform a divination.

He placed one hand on the carcass, feeling for its residual life force, while his other hand rapidly tied knots in the rope.

The rope danced between his fingers as if weaving the very threads of fate.

A moment later, the result of the divination appeared in his mind.

None of the men, aside from Nash, had ever seen Feng Shan perform a divination before. They were baffled by his strange actions.

The divination complete, Feng Shan stood up. His gaze fixed on the northwest, as if it could pierce through the vast, snow-covered forest.

"Four men, two snowmobiles. To the northwest."

Hearing this, Yves and the three veterans froze, a chill running down their spines.

’What kind of skill is that?’

’He knows how many there are and their exact location just from a single touch?’

’But right now, all they could do was trust him.’

The wind howled through the trees, as if urging them to hurry.

The six men quickly mounted their snowmobiles. The roar of the engines shattered the silence of the forest.

Feng Shan looked toward the White Wolf Pack and pointed at the carcasses in the pit. "Don’t let this food go to waste. It’s yours."

With that, the six snowmobiles sped off to the northwest.
