Chapter 126: Obsidian Wing

Skyark-Class Transit Vessel airport was simply a vast expanse viridescent land, with a huge circular cement road in the middle where the Obsidian Wing rested.

Connected to the huge circular cement road were paths coming from the gates with its walls surrounding the airport, where countless cars could be seen driving through.

There were many people, at this moment, entering the Obsidian Wing, guided by the crew members.

At this moment, Felix and others had just left the car and were now staring at the massive, heavily reinforced transport aircraft.

The mayor stood beside him, admiring the Obsidian Wing like Felix.

He said, "This is designed by the Clark City, two centuries after the Clark City was established, not for speed or luxury but for survival above.

At that time, the Clark City suffered catastrophic losses whenever they attempted to travel to Russel and Miller City.

Not only it’s slow to travel through the land, but the beasts were also more rampant. Even the beast at the skies could take advantage.

With the Obsidian Wing, you’d only have to be wary against flying beasts, lessening the travel time. Just have a Lord Beast Tamer to protect the vessel, then everything will be fine."

Felix was amused by the mayor’s confidence.

He asked, "I read this in the textbook before, but I want to know, had this vessel been almost destroyed?"

The mayor solemnly nodded. "That’s right. But that’s simply because the Lord Beast Tamer at that time was weaker than Sky Marshal Kaelor. So, you don’t have to worry."

Felix continued to gaze at the Obsidian Wing, recalling the information he had about it that he read in the textbook before.

95 meters in length. 120 meters wingspan. It can carry 300 civilians, all carry responsibility to the next travel. It has 40 crew members, 12 armed escorts, and a Lord Beast Tamer. It can also carry beast materials, weapon shipments, medical supplies, rare ores, and more.

From the outside, it’s intentionally bulking and intimidating.

Really, a work of art.

The mayor said, "It only has a steel, rune arrays, beast-core engines, reinforced propellers, and shock-resistant structure. There are no advance missiles, laser canons as what you might read in fiction, and even hyper technology. You can really only survive by relying completely to the Lord Beast Tamer."

"Then, what if the Lord Beast Tamer can’t be relied on?"

The mayor smirked. "That hasn’t happened ever since the Obsidian Wing was delivered here. I guess, we would never know."

Hearing the confidence from the mayor himself, the Hill family was assured. It was inevitable they felt anxious flying in the aircraft, where it would be certainly attacked by terrifying beasts.

Sky Marshal Kaelor was fluttered by the mayor’s compliments. Despite hiding his reaction, his cheeks reddened for a bit.

Doctor Eleanor, on the other hand, was searching for Master Shen. She opened her phone and saw a message that Master Shen was already inside.

Hence, she turned towards the mayor and said, "Should we go enter now?"

The mayor nodded. He bid farewell to Krisha first before allowing them to proceed in the aircraft, where a crew member assisted them to enter with the help of their flying beasts, carrying the Hill Family.

The aircraft was massive and didn’t have a long stair. It was more convenient to carry the passengers through their aerial beast pets anyway.

After they entered, Sky Marshal Kael also bid farewell to the Hill Family as he has a designated seat personally for him in the Beast Tamer Command Chamber, located at the top rear of the aircraft.

It contains aerial surveillance maps, beast radar arrays, spiritual communication runes, and launch platform for aerial beast deployment. No civilians were allowed to enter, except the pilots and the head of the crew.

The crew member led the Hill Family, Doctor Eleanor, and Krisha to their assigned seats.

Surprisingly, except Doctor Eleanor, Master Shen was already seated beside Doctor Eleanor’s seat.

Felix and Krisha greeted him warmly, to which Master Shen responded with a few words. He was then preoccupied by Doctor Eleanor, who chatted with him.

The seat was then arranged like this: Master Shen at the window seat, then Doctor Eleanor, Felix, Krisha, Mia, Sarah, and Noah, with three more seats for others.

Noah was conversing with the other passengers and was surprised how they also admired Felix during his duel against Jayden.

What was even more surprising was the status of the individual he was chatting. It turned out it was the head manager of the Beastore.

Noah learned more of the status of the other passenger and was in awe. He felt out of place.

Surprisingly, the passengers didn’t ask about his status since they were already aware because Felix’s story had already spread even outside the Chambers City—of how his parents were simply an ordinary corporation worker.

Even so, Noah was being treated by them like friends, causing him to be flattered and at the same time immensely proud at his son.

At this moment, the Obsidian Wing took off. Sarah and Noah, experiencing their first time traveling in the aircraft and being only at the Awakener Rank, felt nauseous and dizzy. Thankfully, a crew members noticed and gave them a drug to alleviate their sickness.

The massive TV above at the front suddenly showed a moving image of what was outside the Obsidian Wing.

The Obsidian Wing was after all enclosed, not even the window seat has a window at all.

By showing the moving image of Obsidian Wing outside, covering every angle, the passenger’s attention was on it.

Sarah and Noah were in awe. They saw the Chambers City landscape, a place where they were born and grew up with. Not in their lifetime they would expect to temporarily leave the Chambers City, even more so in gazing at it in the sky.

My son has brought us to this height. Sarah and Noah simultaneously thought.

They still weren’t aware that Felix wouldn’t let them retire at the Awakener rank.

Felix, on the other hand, was intrigued by what was being shown at the TV. Seeing the Chambers City at the sky evokes a different feeling to him.

Not once I have expected to reach the sky, either. He thought.

Even if he reached the Commander rank and had an aerial beast pet, it wasn’t enough for the latter to reach such an altitude like the Obsidian Wing.

The TV then continued to show the outside view, from circling around the Chambers City until it finally left the Chambers City.

A crew member grabbed the microphone and said, "Our destination is the Clark City. It will take two days to reach the city, the Skyveil Cliffs.

Rest assured that the Obsidian Wing has everything you need. Thank you for your attention and we hope you have a wonderful flight."

...

For the next thirty-six hours, the flight was unexpectedly smooth. Although it was boring to watch at the TV where it only showed the white skies and the blue horizon, when night arrived, the constellation of myriads of stars caught their attention.

In the Chambers City, it was difficult to gaze at the stars at night due to the light population. Hence, what they saw intrigued them.

While they were gazing at the TV in awe, a crew member, who studied astronomy, began providing knowledge, elevating the experience for the passengers.

Even Felix felt the same. However, his experience was spoiled by Guide whose knowledge surprisingly surpassed the crew member.

Felix interrupted by Guide, "How do you even know about the stars?"

Guide replied, "I actually don’t know. For some reason, I have knowledge about the stars and how they were formed due to a certain individual reaching immortality."

Felix’s eyes widened. "Does that mean there’s immortal in my world?"

[Your world is a planet, not a star. Hence, it only has a sentient or possible just a spirit lacking enough consciousness yet.]

Felix’s heart skipped a beat. Tonight, he learned a fascinating and significant knowledge.

He was even more intrigued in learning the star.

Krisha, on the other hand, couldn’t help but lost her focus at each of the star that the crew member was pointing out. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

She recalled the Absolute Winter Sovereign and wondered if his place was a star. She wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case.

How can I reach the star?

Such question compelled her to ask Felix, confident that the latter had answers. Yet, she restrained herself on the last second.

She did not want him to know about the Absolute Winter Sovereign and the secret that she has about him.

She could only clench her fists tightly.

She could only continue gazing at each of the stars until dawn arrived. The piercing gaze of the sunlight was reflected by the TV.

The crew member then announced, "We are reaching the Skyveil Cliffs, known as the Open Sky Corridor. It has the highest concentration of airborne beast activity, unstable wind currents, and exposed aerial routes. Facing a common flying beasts are common. However, Sky Marshal Kaelor is here to guard the Obsidian Wing for a reason.

If you see a beast horde at the TV and are threatening the Obsidian Wing, please avoid screaming. Rest assured that Sky Marshal Kaelor and the twelve-armed escorts will do their best to avoid even a single scratch at the Obsidian Wing.

Please sit back, relax, and watch as they protect us."

The passengers then stared anxiously at the TV, until a horde of drakes appeared...
