Chapter 98: Top 5!

Thankfully, his Galefang Wolf had already closed in the moment he and Felix were about to collide. When the Galefang Wolf saw a compressed water energy, turning into a snake, slithering out of his master’s vision and was about to strike at his master’s nape, he instantly pounced at it.

His master evaded one of the most dangerous situations that could endanger his life.

Instructor Frank was shaken, as well. He had not expected Felix to be vicious.

He gazed at Felix and wondered if he indeed intended to injure Isaac.

Felix’s expression didn’t show a hint of surprise after his River Strike was blocked. It seemed it was within his expectations.

Instructor Frank heaved a sigh of relief, but he summoned his fastest beast pet nonetheless at the 2nd Tier Rare rank.

The Zephyrtail Fox.

He ordered her to keep at close proximity and made a move to defend either of the disciples who were in the perilous situation.

Felix, on the other hand, repositioned himself and attacked again in every different direction.

The impact wasn’t as serious as before, but, with his extreme speed and consistent power of his wooden sword, Isaac could barely keep up.

They exchanged five strikes instantly, while the Galefang Wolf, who was supposed to help his master, was busied by Moon.

Moon adapted to the Polished Stone faster than Galefang Wolf, causing the latter to struggle.

Isaac was distracted after being surprised by Moon’s strength. Not only she was as agile as his beast pet, she even wounded Galefang Wolf every time they exchanged strikes.

He was shaken. He had not expected that Felix’s beast pet grew stronger as he was.

If it wasn’t for his Skyhand Monkey, intensifying his attack at a distance to keep disrupting Felix and Moon’s movement, the fight wouldn’t have been dragged longer.

Isaac gritted his teeth, wanting to surrender already. Gazing at Felix’s face, seemingly wearing a serious expression but the way he acted made it seemed he wasn’t pressured at all, left a bitter taste in his mouth.

Just how did he grow stronger so fast? I can’t defeat him even after I worked so hard and with the experience I have.

Isaac lamented. He had lost most of the motivation to keep fighting, but he didn’t just want to end it early.

He wanted to keep his reputation and honor as long as possible.

Just as he was getting his momentum and energy back, Felix suddenly distanced himself away from him.

He was able to take a breath. But he held his breath immediately when he heard a thud echoing beside him and felt a faint connection from his beast pet.

He turned towards his Galefang Wolf, and his heart ached when he saw him struggling to stand up.

His Galefang Wolf didn’t want to surrender, yet he had already felt like that way long ago.

He turned towards his Skyhand Monkey and understood that even he could barely produce a compressed air anymore.

Isaac glanced at Felix. He understood that facing him was his biggest mistake.

He sighed and dropped his wooden sword—his honor instantly vanished, as well.

Instructor Frank didn’t wait for Isaac to be completely swallowed by bitterness of the defeat as he instantly shouted, "Felix wins. He has now taken the Top 5 spot."

The disciples exploded with thunderous applause. The inner disciples wore a heavy expression.

Seeing Felix’s winning without facing difficulties against Isaac made them conclude that it would only be a matter of time before Felix overtook the first spot in the ranking.

They smiled bitterly. They understood now that Felix’s bold claim wasn’t just presumptuous. It was a fact and a motivation for himself to achieve greater things that was considered as ridiculous into the mind of an ordinary individual.

Felix, on the other hand, stared at Isaac.

After hearing Instructor Frank’s announcement, his expression didn’t change.

It remained heavy.

Seeing Isaac lowering his head while running to his beast pet that was injured, he said, "Raise your chin. Be proud. I didn’t take you lightly at all."

His tone was serious. He wasn’t lying at all.

Isaac was surprised, he glanced at Felix and smiled bitterly.

He believed Felix was only comforting him.

Seeing his reaction, Felix didn’t bother to explain. He shook his head and walked towards Krisha.

He pondered. If I didn’t take him seriously, the Rooted Horizon might actually work.

The Rooted Horizon simply meant intercepting the opponents attack at an angle while following up with a counterattack.

If Felix took him lightly and his attack was intercepted, he might suffer an injury.

If it wasn’t because the River Strike was actually dangerous for what meant to be a simple spar, Felix wouldn’t have taken him seriously. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

One thing he realized after executing the River Strike was... it could actually kill Isaac.

Thankfully, he could still control the flow of his compressed water energy and managed to hold it back before Isaac’s beast pet saved his life.

Afterward, Felix relied mostly on his Wave Step while compressing water energy just enough to increase the strength of his attack.

He didn’t execute the River Strike at all afterwards, his heart skipped a beat after realizing he almost murdered Isaac.

While he was lost in thought, he finally arrived in the perimeter and Krisha was within his sights.

The Guide’s voice echoed in his mind, startling him.

[Only Krisha’s sword technique can stop the River Strike.]

Felix agreed with her internally.

He thought the same after recalling Krisha’s duel, where a defensive layer of chilling qi stopped a beast pet’s attack.

If it was maximized, then his River Strike would surely be stopped.

"Why aren’t you happy?" asked Krisha.

Felix smiled.

Before he could reply, Krisha further added with raised eyebrows.

"Is it because you feel guilty that you’ve humiliated Isaac?"

Felix shook his head.

"Not that."

He meaningfully swept his gaze around the outer disciples, who didn’t bother hiding their gaze and ears directed at him.

He said, "I will tell you, later."

The outer disciples didn’t force him to spill out the truth as they hastily changed the subject by congratulating Felix genuinely.

Krisha smiled and took a step back, letting them celebrate Felix’s achievement...
