The two people of the Twilight Council looked with cold eyes at everyone present.

As soon as they saw that both sides had the same expressions, they realized that they would each blame each other.

This would become troublesome.

"Who killed our Vice-Sect Master?" the Sect Master asked with anger.

"It was him!" the representative of the Lost Wind Sect shouted as he pointed at Silver Seer. "He killed him with his Heavenly Lightning!"

"What bullshit!" Silver Seer shouted back. "Yes, he died to my lightning, but you have all seen that the will on my lightning has already been destroyed after he pushed it to the side! How am I supposed to control willless lightning!? It was obviously that whore! She manipulated it from a distance!"

"And how am I supposed to do that!?" the representative of the Mortal Sect shouted with an offended tone. "I also can't control attacks that have no will on them!"

"Oh yeah?" Silver Seer shouted. "Then, how did our Law Comprehension Area for Heavenly Lightning suddenly leave its place to attack me!? Because of that, my entire Sect is now destroyed! Look around yourself! Everything has been turned to rubble, and nearly all my Ancestral Gods died! You can't honestly think that I did that, right!?"

"Maybe you did!" she shouted back.

"Are you retarded!? Having an incredibly powerful disciple is nice, but I won't sacrifice my entire fucking Sect for that!" Silver Seer shouted back.

"Disciple?" the representative of the Eternity Sect repeated with a disregarding voice. "You mean your weapon. You only wanted to use him until he is of no use anymore."

"Oh, and you're so different?" The representative of the True Life Sect said with a giggle. "Don't act like you're the nice guy in this scenario. You wanted to do the same."

"Yes!" Silver Seer shouted as he agreed with her. "Additionally, why would I destroy my own fucking Sect? Who would benefit most from my Sect being destroyed!? You three, obviously! So, if you can control a Law Comprehension Area like this, you can also control my willless lightning!"

"Are you insane!? Why would we destroy your Sect while being inside it?" the representative of the Lost Wind Sect scoffed. "You only lost your buildings, your two Law Comprehension Areas, and some Ancestral Gods. Your foundation isn't even threatened. You think we would risk our lives for something as insignificant as that?"

"You obviously did! After all, it happened!" Silver Seer shouted. "You know that it would have been too obvious, which is why you did that. The fact that it is so obvious that you did it would make people think that you're too smart to do something like that, which is what you're banking on!"

"Are you even listening to the words coming out of your mouth?" the representative of the Lost Wood Sect sneered with disdainful laughter. "Then, why did we supposedly kill the Vice-Sect Master of the Twilight Council? That would be even riskier!"

"Because you wanted to finish us off," the representative of the True Life Sect scoffed. "By killing the Vice-Sect Master, you want to pull the Twilight Council to your side while severely weakening us."

While the two sides were arguing with each other, the two people from the Twilight Council had already turned back time to watch what had happened.

Gravis had eradicated all traces of time when he had killed the Vice-Sect Master of the Eternal Fire Sect, but no one had eradicated the traces of time when the Vice-Sect Master of the Twilight Council had been killed.

Because of that, the two leaders of the Twilight Council could see the entire incident.

From what they were seeing, the Vice-Sect Master of the Lost Wind Sect had initiated the confrontation, and Silver Seer had clapped back.

Then, their Vice-Sect Master blocked the attack to stop the fighting, only for the lightning spears to suddenly turn around and incinerate him.

The two leaders of the Twilight Council looked at the reaction of everyone involved, and absolutely everyone looked shocked beyond compare.

There was no one that reacted suspiciously.

They also saw the argument that happened after that, but as soon as the fighting broke out, the images became unreadable. The forces generated by the clash threw time into disarray.

The only thing the two people noticed was that the fighting had gone on for way too long.

Under normal circumstances, a fight between such powerful Cultivators should have long since ended, but for some reason, they fought for an incredibly long time.

Did not one person manage to land a killing blow in such a long time?

Unlikely.

So, what was going on?

Additionally, both sides kept claiming that they were innocent while framing the other side.

People of that level all knew the Law of Honesty, and everyone kept using it.

Both sides were apparently speaking the truth.

"Why did you kill the audience?" the Sect Master of the Twilight Council suddenly asked Silver Seer.

"Because I know that I would be framed," Silver Seer said with a calm voice.

"Yet, you didn't erase time?" the Sect Master asked.

Silver Seer looked embarrassed to the ground. "I was in a panic, and I didn't think much. I knew that I had to do something, so I killed everyone. I knew that the suspicion would fall on me, which is why I tried to kill every unreliable witness."

"However, you have to believe me! I genuinely didn't kill your Vice-Sect Master!" Silver Seer implored.

"Your attack killed him," the representative of the Eternity Sect said coldly, "but if you are so hellbent on playing the victim, why don't you swear to Heaven? If you're innocent, that shouldn't be an issue, right?"

Silver Seer's body shook.

Swearing to Heaven was not something that could be taken lightly.

A single wrong word, a small mistake, an imperfectly spoken statement, and he would die.

He had no fault in ending the Vice-Sect Master's life? That would kill Silver Seer since the person probably wouldn't have died without his attack.

He had never wanted him to die? Was there a moment in Silver Seer's life when he wanted the Vice-Sect Master to die? Probably. He just never acted upon that desire.

The leaders of the Twilight Council looked at Silver Seer.

"Based on the current circumstance, your probability of being the perpetrator is the highest. Therefore, you need to swear to Heaven if you want to prove your innocence," the Sect Master said.

Silver Seer became nervous.

Swearing to Heaven could kill him!

One mistake, and he was done for!

After some seconds, Silver Seer took a nervous breath.

"Shortly before, while, and shortly after launching that attack, I had no intention of harming or killing the Vice-Sect Master of the Twilight Council. I swear to Heaven," Silver Seer said quietly.

The three opposing representatives sneered.

Silence.

As time passed, their expressions became shocked.

What!?

The three of them had been certain that Silver Seer had killed the Vice-Sect Master of the Twilight Council!

How was he still alive!?

This could only mean one thing.

Silver Seer didn't kill the Vice-Sect Master of the Twilight Council!

After realizing that he was still alive, Silver Seer released a deep breath.

"See!?" he shouted as he pointed at the opposing three representatives. "It wasn't me! It was them!"

The two leaders of the Twilight Council concentrated on the opposing side.

The three of them fell into a panic and confusion, and the representative of the Mortal Sect gritted her teeth.

"I have not touched, manipulated, or interacted with that attack in any shape or form. I swear to Heaven!" she proclaimed.

Silence.

Now, it was the time for the opposing two representatives to become shocked.

What!?

The two leaders of the Twilight Council furrowed their brows as they inspected everyone else.

"In the last hour, I have done nothing to harm the Vice-Sect Master. I swear to Heaven," the representative of the True Life Sect said with a bitter smile.

"I had no hand in killing the Vice-Sect Master! I swear to Heaven!" the representative of the Lost Wood Sect proclaimed.

"I had no hand in killing the Vice-Sect Master. I swear to Heaven," the representative of the Eternity Sect proclaimed.

With each new oath, everyone became more and more shocked.

None of them had killed the Vice-Sect Master?

Then, who had killed him!?

Eventually, all eyes fell on the Sect Master of the Heavenly Divine Sect.

"Was it you?" the Ancestor of the Twilight Council asked. He had to be the one to speak up since the Sect Master of the Heavenly Divine Sect was too powerful for his Sect Master.

"No," the Sect Master of the Heavenly Divine Sect stated.

"Then, swear to Heaven," the Ancestor of the Twilight Council said.

"No."

The eyes of the Ancestor narrowed. "Why not?"

The Sect Master of the Heavenly Divine Sect looked at the Ancestor for the first time.

"Why should I do the bidding of someone weaker than me?"
