South Grant made a decision.

From now on, whenever Foster starts talking, I’ll take a detour.

I’m not as devious as him, nor as corrupt.

For the healthy development of my young heart, I need to stay away from Foster.

Suddenly, South Grant wondered why Nathan Foster was here at this time.

She would usually be at school during lunch, and Nathan Foster would only come to pick her up after school in the afternoon.

"Why did you come to pick me up at noon today?" South Grant asked curiously.

"I happened to be nearby, so I thought I’d take you to lunch," Nathan Foster said casually.

South Grant looked at his clothes. He was wearing a camouflage uniform; how could he be nearby?

"Did you come just to have lunch with me?"

Nathan Foster glanced at her sideways, and just as South Grant was bracing herself for another round of jabs, she heard him softly say, "Mhm."

Oh my!

Uncle, are you serious?

Did you really come just to have lunch with me?

If it were someone else, they might be flattered, their surprise mixed with joy.

But for her, it was pure shock.

She initially thought Nathan Foster would choose a fancy place to eat, but instead, he took her to a noodle shop in an alley, located in a small courtyard, quite secluded.

There weren’t many people here; it was just the two of them in the courtyard. Business didn’t seem to be good.

Nathan Foster ordered two bowls of beef noodles and two simple side dishes.

Something like stir-fried bean sprouts with vinegar and a dish called "Pear Blossom Drop."

Nothing complicated. South Grant glanced at the menu, noticing prices weren’t listed, but she guessed it wouldn’t be expensive. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

When Nathan Foster put down the menu, he saw South Grant sneaking peeks at it and said nonchalantly:

"There’s no papaya or breast-enhancing porridge, no need to worry."

South Grant: "..."

This guy can’t go a moment without his snark.

"It’s just bean sprouts or beef noodles, so stingy," South Grant muttered under her breath after his quip.

With excellent hearing, Nathan Foster caught her words despite her quiet murmuring.

Nathan Foster put down the menu, crossed his arms, and looked at South Grant.

"Why don’t you treat this time?" Nathan Foster said casually, giving South Grant a chance to shine.

South Grant, seeing his slightly disdainful look, couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.

Underestimating who? I can handle paying for stir-fried bean sprouts and beef noodles!

"I’ll treat, then," South Grant said, still having her monthly allowance, and the card Nathan Foster gave her hadn’t been used yet.

Besides, such a small noodle shop would at most cost a couple hundred bucks.

South Grant reached for the menu, then pointed to a row of dishes and said to the waiter standing by:

"One of each, please."

South Grant confirmed that these were all vegetarian, so they shouldn’t cost much.

The waiter, after hearing South Grant’s request, stared at her with a slightly baffled expression, then looked uncertainly at Nathan Foster.

Nathan Foster’s expression didn’t change, and he said lightly, "Do as she says."

After the waiter left, Nathan Foster asked South Grant:

"Where’s the card I gave you?"

"I didn’t bring it; it’s at home."

"Mhm."

South Grant was puzzled about the meaning behind Nathan Foster’s "mhm."

They sat, waiting for their food. South Grant began talking to Nathan Foster about her morning at school.

After a while, the dishes started coming one after another.

It could be described as a full vegetarian feast, not a speck of meat.

In the morning, South Grant had been put off by a breast-enhancing porridge and hadn’t eaten much, so she was starving.

Seeing the dishes now, she immediately started eating.

Perhaps it was because she was so hungry, but the stir-fried bean sprouts tasted exceptionally delicious.

Even though it was just bean sprouts, it tasted incredibly good.

"How did they make these bean sprouts taste so good?" South Grant asked in wonder.
