Limited Time Marriage: Nice to Meet You Mr. Foster
Chapter 165 - 164: Nathan Foster’s Nightmare
Fiona Grant couldn’t sleep, so she got up and took a stroll in the courtyard.
That’s when she encountered the still-awake Old Butler Keller.
When Old Butler Keller saw Fiona Grant, he smiled kindly and asked:
"Miss Grant, still not asleep?"
"No, not yet. Why isn’t Sir Keller asleep?" Fiona Grant’s words were always pleasing, and when she spoke, it was with a sweet smile that made it hard to refuse and instinctively drew people closer.
"Getting old, I sleep less. When I can’t sleep, I just come out to take a look," Old Butler Keller replied with a smile.
"How many years have you been with my grandpa, Sir Keller?" Fiona Grant inquired discreetly about The Foster Family’s affairs.
Old Butler Keller thought carefully, then shook his head and said:
"I can’t remember, it’s been many years. I’ve spent my whole life with the general. That year a flood hit our hometown, and everyone in the village drowned. The general’s father was the commander against the flood that year. Seeing that I was the only survivor in the town, he took me to be with the general. It’s been over 50 years now, I suppose."
Fiona Grant was indeed surprised to learn that a butler had such a deep connection with The Foster Family.
No wonder Old Butler Keller follows Harold Foster, and his son Ivan Keller follows Nathan Foster.
They’re all confidants.
"So Sir Keller has been with Grandpa for so many years. You must have watched Uncle grow up," Fiona Grant turned the conversation to Nathan Foster.
When Old Butler Keller heard Fiona Grant mention Nathan Foster, he smiled broadly and said:
"Indeed, Nathan was someone I watched grow up. He was quite mischievous and adorable as a child."
In front of others, Old Butler Keller called him the general, but in private, they addressed him by his name.
Fiona Grant’s face now showed a look of grievance, and she sighed, saying:
"Ah, I don’t know why, but Uncle doesn’t like me. I’m a little afraid of Uncle."
Old Butler Keller nodded predictably after Fiona Grant finished speaking.
"It’s normal. When Nathan was young, he experienced something, and since then, no girl has been able to get close to him—no exception," Old Butler Keller said. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Fiona Grant was somewhat surprised, not knowing what the event Old Butler Keller referred to was, that left such a deep impact on Nathan Foster?
"What happened to Uncle?" Fiona Grant asked.
At this point, Old Butler Keller just shook his head, smiled, and didn’t say more.
Fiona Grant didn’t continue asking, but kept thinking about Nathan Foster’s situation.
Nathan Foster doesn’t let others get close, so why is South Grant allowed near?
Could it be because she currently holds a male identity?
Does Nathan Foster not know, which is why he’s permitting the closeness?
Fiona Grant was determined to find out what Nathan Foster had gone through, only then could she target the problem effectively.
Fiona Grant chatted with Old Butler Keller for a bit more before going back to rest.
Tonight, Nathan Foster was sleeping in the courtyard next to South Grant’s. Was it because he wasn’t used to South not being by his side, or was it the old house that made him uncomfortable?
He had a dream.
In the dream, there was a box. When he opened it, he saw a pair of jade-like pale hands with slender fingers.
However, these hands were just a pair of hands, without arms or a body because they had been severed.
The place where they were cut off was bloody, and Nathan woke up with a start.
Only then did he realize that the light blanket covering him was soaked with sweat.
